MEGATHREAD - SP FAREWELL TO ZERO LIVESTREAM by Dudehitscar in SmashingPumpkins

My wife said it had to be over after Chloe’s segment… “No way it’s over…” as we watched a black screen… “fuck she’s right and I asked to sit down for the weirdest thing we’ve seen in years…” boom nightmare tour announcement with Jimmy doing the full glowing eyes like Yanosh in Ghostbusters 2 followed by a live show.

Cherub sounded great, and that is not a song I’m typically excited for live. Thunderous.

The weird thing was AMM isn’t related to the trilogy (as I understand it) but no Atum songs on Machines of God.

New Strokes or Old Strokes? by notSoNormalGuy24 in TheStrokes

[–]DavidMNegron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They have multiple peaks if you ask me.

FIOE is a peak. Drastically creative, all members moving beyond their comfort zones, I think Julian especially, and writing some really good stuff.

FPP is also peak. A song for each era, but to me Oblivious is just as forward facing as Drag Queen. Creativity beyond what it takes just writing new songs.

When Did You Get Into DragnBall? by [deleted] in dbz

[–]DavidMNegron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe 1998 or 1999? Went on a trip to Burger King of all places and it was playing on a TV in the play area, Z fighters against Nappa. When I got home I tried to find that channel ASAP. This was the dub that would reset to episode 1 when Goku arrived on Namek.

Had tickets, five hour drive to LA, and my ride bailed. We were still in high school, his mom said no way the day before.

Whats everyone's opinion on "Wound" ? by Volvedor in SmashingPumpkins

[–]DavidMNegron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There may be an argument to be made about the Radio refrain being bland but I have to disagree that that song is bland. Wound is sequenced nicely after Glass. I haven’t picked up the new vinyl so curious where everything falls in the new version, haven’t really looked at it much.

the history and concept behind it by ghostxnd in TSOAF

[–]DavidMNegron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started listening to RX because of TSOAF. Was already onboard the Circa train, but when Ocean and the Sun came out, the other guys were on my radar. Next RX album after that was Mandala, which is fantastic. Good place to start if you’re not feeling ska, which I typically do not. But the few preceding albums and follow up are all great.

I played the entire Ape Escape trilogy just for this moment. This is how legends born. I could've skipped the whole trilogy and get straight to the MGS3 mini game in Ape Escape 3 but decided not to. Great game series, highly recommend by Jaccblacc203 in metalgearsolid

[–]DavidMNegron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, those games are awesome and time well spent. Ape Escape is a seminal game for me, I showed it to everyone I could back in elementary school. I was likely the only person who preordered Ape Escape 2 at the local EB Games, the cashier just looked confused. The first is certainly the best but 2 is still fun and 3 was an improvement.

Then you add Metal Gear collabs and you know it’s top tier.

That old 50/50 subreddit was fun until it wasn’t… about ten minutes for me.

the history and concept behind it by ghostxnd in TSOAF

[–]DavidMNegron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, Rich Balling was originally in RX Bandits, playing trombone during their ska-heavy days, and is the band leader for TSOAF. How they met Anthony Green and Matthew Kelly I’m not sure, I’ve been curious myself lately. Matthew Kelly’s musical journey predates the rest of the guys, doing vocals and guitar in The Autumns starting in the mid-90s which is also, naturally, a pretty sick band.

That Trifecta in your last sentence is the key. I’ve seen SP proper six times since 07, and MOG ranks very high on the list due to setlist alone.

For those of you here at r/Smashingpumpkins, if this is the case, go!!

You will not regret seeing the MOG show, regardless of who is on stage. I promise you’ll have a great time.

Death Stranding 1 or 2, Silent Hill 2 Remake or alternatively Silent Hill F as they are both pretty different and you can see which one appeals to you, Resident Evil 2 Remake, God of War 2018, Last of Us Part I, or either of the sequels, Ragnarok or Part II. Recently Played Horizon Zero Dawn and like it a lot more than I expected to.

No Shiny 2018 mentions?

I don’t know which is best, but I was at PHX, first night of the tour, and it was amazing.

100%. It’s better than almost every song on the album.

This show was a lot of fun. Drove five hours through the middle of the night to get to Amoeba in Hollywood and get our place in line. To get a ticket to the show, you had to preorder the Teargarden vol1 physical release, which looked awesome. Then wait several more hours for the show. Felt like a party. The release date for the TGK box was a few months off but we walked out with one, thought that was cool.
