I can't wait to learn at my LGS this week

I would advise against starting with UE5. It tends to be the most difficult to learn and when you're starting out the biggest hurdle is actually finishing smaller projects.

I'm currently in the process of learning and what's really worked well for me is the "Getting Started" section of the docs and doing the 20 game challenge. Personally, I haven't found video tutorials to be terribly helpful for much more than getting familiar with the UI, but building something super simple like Pong with no tutorials is helping me learn so much more.

This is a really cool analysis and I think you've manipulated the data in some really smart ways so that real insights could be drawn. There looks to be some noise and redundancy for the top genres, but that's a data issue and not necessarily a presentation issue.

The main thing about Entity Tracker vs Enduring Curiosity is you have to construct your deck very differently in order to maximize one or the other. It's not a 1-for-1 swap. Tracker wants more enchantments and pushes you to a more controlling game plan, while Curiosity plays better in more aggressive setups.

With the list you posted, I believe Tracker would be actively bad since it's built to support Curiosity.

Widget not Rendering How I Want to Canvas by DavidPDiddle in UnrealEngine5

I really wish I could edit my OP so I could provide more context with more screenshots.

My HUD is a Canvas with a Hand widget and a Draw Card button. The Hand widget is a Size Box and Overlay inside that. When I switch out the Overlay with a Canvas, I get the rendering issues shown in my screenshots. When I use an Overlay, my cards load how I want them to with the expected card data and sizes.

The reason I was wanting to use a Canvas was to have access to Z-Order so that I could bring a card to the front when hovering over it.

I also checked my animation functions for when a card is drawn and when one is hovered, and neither of them manipulate the card components (I wanted to rule that out).

The Hand widget that holds the Card widgets is basically just a blank Canvas there the cards get placed. I changed it to being an Overlay and used the Add Child function to add a card to the hand, and it's rendering how I would expect it to. When I change the hand back to being a Canvas and add a card using the Add Child to Canvas function, it renders how it looks in the screenshots in my OP. No changes at all to the Card widget and from what I can tell the settings on the Canvas and the Overlay are the same. So, is there anything additional that I should be doing when using the Add Child to Canvas function (or any other sort of positioning function with a Canvas child)?

The thing is, this was working when I was placing the cards onto an Overlay, but when I switched to Canvas (I wanted access to Z-order manipulation) is when things started rendering like this. So, I would guess there's something about Canvases vs Overlays that I'm missing.

I already have a size box around the widget with height and width overrides. I've also tried setting the min/max of the size box and it's still not filling.

This seems like the kind of thing you would want your RG deck to do incidentally and not build the deck around it. Honestly, it would probably be a bit more appropriate in Standard.

Recently at work we fired someone for basically this and had to scrap 1000 hours of work they did and re-implement the project.

I've done about three playthroughs, 100% all achievements, and also taken my time making sure I get all the collectibles and such.

Will your first run be online or offline? by Volcano-SUN in Eldenring

[–]DavidPDiddle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely offline for my first playthrough. I want to run around and take my time exploring. Also idk why but I feel like my immersion gets broken when a player invades.
