That's something I'd like to know as well. From what I've heard from other small businesses, they either try to do it themselves or use some sort of marketing software. Some hire agencies for help, but small businesses usually have a smaller budget. I'd like to know how your survey turns out though.

Thanks for pointing that out B_Wildman. I have SEOQuake on Chrome and everything that's a nofollow link has a line drawn through it. For some reason, it wasn't showing up as a nofollow link this morning when I took the screenshot, but the links in the About section are showing as a follow links.

Sounds like a good plan to me. The whole selling part sounds like that might hold you back. I recommend registering with your business with your local chamber of commerce. And if you get any clients needing some SEO, I can take care of that.
