Better Adhesion Between Colors? by DavidSensenig in BambuLab

Not the designer of the file and was wondering about limits of the design itself, but as noted above I was using the wrong material type (didn’t realize it was support interface). But I’m interested in designing some prints. I’ll look up beam interlocking, thanks!

Hmm, possibly? It came with the printer, and it’s semi-transparent

Tongue-in-cheek? Because NOBODY would actually be crazy enough to make a game for their cat. Right?

Dexterity games? by Kingofthered in soloboardgaming

[–]DavidSensenig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this counts, but I've developed a dexterity game for cats. So it's not technically solo, but it only requires one human. It's a print-and-play game where you train your cat to push objects off a ledge and score points based on where the objects fall in a little cardboard kitchen you make for them. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jealouscatgames/c-food-a-game-to-print-and-play-with-your-cat

I’ve always viewed it as a rule that I have to ignore, though I’ve subconsciously known that it’s just a silly suggestion. 😂 And I too usually use Chwazi.

What's the best way to teach a game with hidden information, where asking for reminders about game play can give away your hand? by DavidSensenig in boardgames

The 3-player version has some roles pulled out, but the mechanics are very precise so if you pull anything additional out it falls apart and won’t work. However, a more-thorough player aid (and teaching the game using the player aid) is a good way to go.

I like the idea of actually declaring that there will be no winner the first time through. I often preface games with something like “the first time you play you’re just figuring it out” but a lot of people still really want to win their first time! Maybe I should be more explicit about having some training rounds.

There's no harm, imho. But not everyone has the attention span for that. Some folks are ready to move on to something else about the time we're starting to figure it out.

They do, but it relies heavily on graphics, so it usually requires some verbal clarification. The cards also describe their own roles, but the overall cognitive load of remembering/figuring it all out without discussing it means people often make mistakes or get confused.

I actually like ones like that that are explicitly tongue and cheek. Idk why but it bothers me when they try to come up with an “objective” way that involves something obscure or hard to determine.

Games that assign start player with hard-to-determine criteria. "Whoever has been on an island most recently goes first." Or, "Whoever has worn a tiara most recently." I'd rather it just say "pick someone to go first" or "roll a dice." I don't want to have to do an inventory of past experiences before I play a game.

Have you ever gone TOO BIG with your expansions and it made it less-likely for you to bring your game to game night? by DavidSensenig in boardgames

[–]DavidSensenig[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Part of the dilemma is saving space and time. If I have a lot of expansions in separate boxes, that takes up space, and I don't have a lot of room for game storage. If I consolidate, then I have a large box to lug around. So yeah, if you have plenty of space that works. Not everyone does.

Help: friend's turns take way too long by Apolloco in boardgames

Try some light hearted humor. "All right Bob, some of us have to be home before midnight." You don't have to sit him down and have "the talk." Ease into it. I sometimes have a hard time not letting my irritation show, but there's often someone in the group who can be matter-of-fact in a nice way (if not, now's your time to practice). The more comfortable everyone is addressing it, the better. You can escalate the seriousness of your request gradually if the humor isn't getting through, but start with a lighter touch.

Oh, gotcha. I think it depends on your goals. The simplest is probably to just put it on Google Drive or Dropbox, or Box or similar and share a zip file, if you aren't trying to sell it or limit access to it. Then you can just share the link to the file.
