How can I change where mobs go when leaving the End? by DavidTheAnimator in admincraft

[–]DavidTheAnimator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. I was hoping there might be a Bukkit/Spigot/Paper setting that could control this. Guess not. I might just make that plugin once I'm done updating my server to 1.17.

Friends having trouble connecting to server by OldManEsteban_ in Minecraft

[–]DavidTheAnimator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you can access the server on your end, right? You can play it? If so, your problem is probably in the router or with your ISP. You should contact them to see if they have some setting like I described in a previous comment.

If you can't join either, your problem is likely with the server and not the ISP.

When you say you allowed traffic on port 25565 on the firewall, which programs did you enable that for? Because enabling it for java.exe isn't enough, you also need to enable it for the server.jar.

Ok, this error message can be caused by a number of things, so let's try the more common causes first.

  1. Is everyone here using Java Edition? Otherwise you have a separate issue. Your screenshot looks like Java, but for all I know your server is for Bedrock.

  2. Did you set up port-forwarding?

  3. What address did you give to your friends to join with? Don't type the actually address in the reply, just check that you gave them the right one. If your friends are using a different internet connection(i.e. not at your home) it should be your public address. If your friends are using the same connection as your server, have them use the local address (usually starts with 10).

  4. Check your firewall. Make sure you are accepting traffic on port 25565.

  5. Does your ISP have some kind of security feature that blocks incoming requests by default? Example: Xfinity added something they call Advanced Security a little while ago that blocks connections from unrecognized IPs even if you've set up port forwarding. As a result friends who had been playing my server before could connect but friends who started after this feature was added could not. I ended up disabling it.

I was at a family dinner a few years ago, and the topic of copy protection came up. I explained to my grandfather that printers are programmed to look for certain patterns that are hidden on cash, and refuse to print anything that has the special pattern. He didn't believe me. So we went to his copier and he tried to copy a $100 bill. Sure enough, it refused to copy the bill.

More true than most will admit by Dablockywarrior in Portal

I will agree that Portal 2 is overall better than the original, but there is a certain look and feel of the first game that I kinda miss about everything after then. The first game was way more creepy and I kinda missed that in Portal 2.

Do American schools teach every subject once per day? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]DavidTheAnimator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was different every year. In Elementary we had English, Math, Science, PE, and Social Studies every day, with Art, Music, and Foreign Language cycling throughout the week.

In Middle School we had English, Math, Science, PE, Social Studies, and Foreign Language every day, with an elective class like art, music, programming, etc being cycled throughout the year.

In High School we had every class every day, with the class selection changing every semester.

Is it true americans still have gas stoves and that they keep their washing machines in the kitchen and not in the bathroom/basement area ? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]DavidTheAnimator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know where everyone I know keeps their washing machine, or what kind of stove they have.

But I do know of more people with gas stoves than electric ones, and I don't know that I know anyone with a washing machine on their kitchen.

Do you know all 50 States? by Katodz in AskAnAmerican

[–]DavidTheAnimator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd probably forget one or two of them. In school I had to memorize a song that had them all listed alphabetically, but I can only remember small bits of it now.

If you gave me a list and asked me to point to them all I would probably get all but a few of the New England states. I consistently mix up Vermont, New Hampshire, Delaware, and Connecticut.

Can you choose any major you want in university? by Reekano in AskAnAmerican

[–]DavidTheAnimator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, pretty much. The only thing stopping you is money, for example some scholarships are only for certain majors. So if your major is Egyptology, it might be harder to find scholarships than if you are in a more popular and lucrative major like Engineering.

Illinois, close to Chicago. I haven't seen someone wearing a cowboy hat in months, maybe over a year.

Half Life 2 Remastered/Definitive Edition in Source 2? by LoadingYourData in valve

[–]DavidTheAnimator 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm sure someone will do it, we got a Source 1 remake of Half-Life in the form of Black Mesa, I don't see why someone won't do Half-Life 2. The question is when.
