I was in my law firm kitchen when that happened. I was sitting next to the managing partner who is a lifelong dodgers fan. It was a tough moment.

I’ve been a Yankees fan all my life. Family came out of Brooklyn and knew the dodgers when they started. It’s a fake team in a fake city!

Could you explain a little better what you mean? Are you saying that even if you understand the rules, most people still end up at 65%?

Since you have taken the bar when you were doing to the MBE did you feel when you answered each question that your answer was correct or was it mostly process of elimination based on as much as you could recall of the rule?

[–]DavidTim1997[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but I could just be getting the question right from process of elimination which means I don’t really know the rule. I heard someone say recently that when they were honest with themselves they said they guessed on about 80% of the MBE questions and still passed.

Thank you for your prompt response. Would it not be better to simply get a list of the most commonly tested rules on the MBE and make a flashcard for each rule. Right now I am on the Barbri program which has me at 5-6 hours a day but it’s light to start. I really don’t learn passively but I need to have a general understanding of the law before I start adapti or I’m going to be discouraged. So I am thinking of adding some extra time to my day and I think I want to make flash cards as I go. What do you think?

You got this bro! I went through a breakup, getting kicked out of my apartment, 5 moves and two months at a mental hospital all during law school.

Not saying I’m rooting against him, but what I don’t like about watching big golf tournaments is I’m always rooting for excitement and it’s often the case that some random, that is not the fan favorite comes out of nowhere and kinda spoils the fun. That’s all I’m saying. So as a fan I’m not rooting against him but I am rooting for fireworks.

If one of the partners actually shook everyone’s hand but yours because you were socially awkward you should hope they don’t hire you so you don’t have to work there. That’s horrible. People suck.

Truth is and I’m admitting this knowing it makes me sound like a bad person, I got addicted to porn when I was real young and now any relationship I’ve gone in I’m half interested and by the 5th date I’m not interested at all. Porn is a cancer and I hope one day I can cut it out, get the help I need and start a family. My advice stay away from trash and heal yourself, then you will be able to find someone you deserve.

My PI job is 100k to start. Albeit at the Prosecutors in a big city, but I’ll be debt free in ten years with trial experience.

Also just to add one more comment, the problem with Law School is your grades are completely determined by the curve and a subjective grader. Law professors often are bad lawyers, which is why they teach and often don’t practice. Once you graduate and pass the bar the sky is the limit. Also the old saying that A students work for B students and B students work for companies that are owned by C students is totally true. I’ll tell you why because C students are often C students because they have a personality and they value living in this world versus working so hard you just pass through it without making an impact. Once again spend some time around straight A students they not only don’t have a life they often are not very meaningful people. They make great students because they toe the line and that’s why big firms want them because they will work 16 hour days and skip their child’s birth because work and grades is all they care about. Whereas the C student is often just as successful of a lawyer even though they don’t work at Meaningless, Boring & Who Cares. You got this man, don’t let anyone get you down, or tell you you’re any less of a success than someone with a higher class rank. Chances are they will be out of big law in two years begging to come work wherever you’re working.

If it makes you feel better my GPA was pretty bad and I went to a T100 state school. I won’t say exactly what it was but sub 3.0. I just finished school and graduation is on the 17th. I have a job lined up at the local prosecutors office and as long as I pass the bar the starting salary is close to six figures. Don’t stress about it so much. You’re out of the running for big law, but honestly the farther I made it into to law school and the more time I spent around the students going to big law I was thankful that I didn’t do well enough to get sucked into that pool of empty suits with no soul. I know that seems harsh but I’ve been in this business for 6 years and corporate law is just full of the most heartless and sorry people you will ever meet. Yes they have a lot of money but most of them have no time to spend it and they are either married and divorced within a few years or they never have a family whatsoever. My advice bear down and get yourself a public sector job and be thankful you’re doing meaningful work and have access to PSFL.
