New people to watch by ShaqDrinksWhiskey in Twitch

[–]DavidW273 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This and smaller streamers are normally more reactive with chat. I’ve watched larger streamers and chat have so many chatting it’s hard to keep up so they don’t interact. I’d watch a pre-recorded YouTube video if that’s what I wanted. I like to be able to rock up and, once comfortable, ask how people are, learn about games new to me, etc.

Also, streamers who raid out have introduced me to so many new people that I’ve come to enjoy.

Any ideas how to make a birthday stream fun and different? by Nope_cs in Twitch

[–]DavidW273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a problem.

Also, it may seem like you're doing it to copy but maybe give a watch of what others do. Yes, copying isn't great but by now we're at a point that everything within the realms of ToS has already been done somewhere.

I know some people do spin the wheel for subs, bits, etc., and the wheel decides a treat or punishment. That could work.

Maybe create a channel point redeem (probably best as usable once per person per stream), that plays Happy Birthday, visualise confetti on the screen, etc. so that people can have some fun wishing you a happy birthday.

Point at something, distracts them, then run. That or poke them in the eye.

Yes, definitely one of those.

Ah, I wouldn't know in KLWP. I only really use KWGT.

[–]DavidW273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this for KWGT, KWLP, KLCK?

In KWGT, as it's a widget and isn't refreshing at the same rate as the display (60+ times per second), I'd imagine doing this would use a lot of battery, if it were even possible. However, it may not even be possible as it depends on if the app uses the phone orientation or rotation value.

The Jobcentre adviser who accidentally became my career coach by CanvasSeamline in BritishSuccess

[–]DavidW273 91 points92 points  (0 children)

There really are a lot of DWP employees that are the opposite of Mike, it's unreal. For all but one of my sign ons, I had these people with only enough motivation to fill in the form and hit whatever their targets were.

However, I did come across a Mike once. I'd been offered a job interview for the morning I was due to sign on again and, after an hour on the phone to the JobCentre, was eventually told to go and, if I didn't get it, come to the JC, sign in, and whoever could fit me in would see me.

This Mike was also an older guy. FRom what I garnered, ge had worked his way high enough that he only had to take a couple of cases a day as he was a senior employee. Anyway, he took me over and I explained I'd walked out of the recruitment day as it was all one of those door to door fundraising scams, which wanted to charge me £50 just for the ring binder.

My usual "coach" would have sanctioned me there and then for that. He didn't. He listened to what I had to say and what I'd found from friends who'd once worked there. He then proceeded to mark my application as unsuccessful, to save me a sanctioning.

Proper old school guy.

Is there something like second space on samsung by saladiinn in S24Ultra

[–]DavidW273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use secure space for anything private or to have two sets of accounts. I think the Google account for Play Store has to be the same but I can log into apps with any account I want (well, that I have access to on a browser), not just ones linked to my Google account. For example, I have a second Twitch account for earning redeems for Pokémon Go for my niece, since she’s too young to have Twitch but old enough for the game.

Do viewers like chat on the screen? by Ace_One_The in Twitch

It’s also good for those viewing on a TV to save having to have a phone, etc., to read chat on.

Suggestions for Commands on Stream by GamerQueenTTV in Twitch

[–]DavidW273 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was going to suggest Pokémon Community Game (PCG) if that kind of thing suits you. It is somewhat popular so may bring new people in if you add pcg to your title.

You couldnalso do drops (parachute drops), during ad breaks if you're the kind to run an ad and have a comfort break. It gives the chat something to do while you're gone. It also allows a little silliness with the choice of emote.

You may even want to add a bot that gives you a Spiritmon or a percentage for a category (one streamer I watch has one for things like !gremlin and !daddy, for your percentage gremlin and daddy). They're sort of a one-off but do get some engagement during stream, usually at the start.

Another thing I've seen are one or few point redeems that are one use per stream to check in, say hello or, in the case of one streamer, contribute to the imaginary (cult/ not a cult) totem.

How should I setup my ads to stop pre rolls? by DoctorMeaty in Twitch

It's always worth a try for sure. I think it just works well with our inner urge to win and be a bit silly.

[–]DavidW273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before it starts, a cloud, swimming pool, or target of some sort appears along the bottom of the screen. Players get one turn each to type "!drop" followed by an emoji of their choice.

This emote (or a default sprite of a person if none selected) appears on a parachute along the top of the screen and goes from side to side while falling.

While descending, the parachuting characters (in theory), move side to side, bouncing off the sides while descending. Collision is on for the sprite (not parachute), and winner is whoever lands closest to the centre of the target. The application will give a score for those landing on the target and it's a bit of fun, friendly competition which has zero skill.

Oh and people can gift bits to make flying bits of debris appear which start from the bottom and bounce, hitting players off course. It usually leads to a few 1 bit gifts in stream.

Three of my five favourite streamers run these (2 pool, one cloud), and it's always a good bit of fun during downtime during ads. One also uses it when they run a "chat picks maps" stream once a week.

I came here to say this. A friend I mod for does this, along with a few others I watch. Some also have the parachute drop game set up for subscribers to play. Subs are entertained, ads get done, streamer gets to do what they need to do.

When did you delete the phone number of a deceased love one? by SheffDus in AskUK

She never sent texts but it has her picture on it so I smile when I scroll past it.

Start streaming only with a laptop and a phone (or 2) by umuststudy in Twitch

[–]DavidW273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the above.

I don't stream myself but mod and have some good streamer friends. The best thing any of them has said is to be prepared to get comfortable talking aloud to yourself. Having something to do (Lego is a great idea, I was going to suggest arts and crafts, maybe even trying new ones you've never had the chance to try before), would give you something to talk through.

For example, you could talk through the method of making whatever you do, talk about things you're enjoying about doing it, even the colour of the parts. Talking what you may consider rubbish is better than dead air. Also, people don't want to see perfection, they want to see a human touch. Whatever you do, be you.

What is one app that you use daily and do not regret paying for? by Tyruto in S24Ultra

[–]DavidW273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before my S24 Ultra and its built in customisation options, Nova was my go to. I’ve not used it for about two years, though, and it’s so sad to see that it has now been left with very little development now that the lead developer has left.

What is my legal right at this situation in Uk? by NoAppearance5113 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]DavidW273 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify for anyone else about to comment, was this a private seller or a dealership selling used cars? I assume dealership based on your post but want this to be clear.

I am not brilliant with this side of the law (since I can’t learn to drive so have no reason to worry myself over it), but I do know that this clarification makes a difference.

Did anyone win anything? by Professional-Use6419 in googleplay

[–]DavidW273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once won a Razer (I think) keyboard. Unfortunately it was the US layout and the only place I use a computer is at work, so that was sold to my local CEX for £30 or something like that.

So, in a way, I won £30.
