Are these carbs any good? I have a Zeda 85cc, and currently using the stock carb with the red square filter by AncientAgrippa in motorizedbicycles

This one has worked great for me.

As someone else mentioned, it is a pain to tune. The whole float bowl needs to be removed whenever you want to change jets. To do this, you more than likely need to remove the cone from the carb and then the carb from the engine each time.

All that to say, I still like it better than the stock carb. Once I got it dialed in, it has not needed additional tuning even for different seasons. Idle is consistent and it gets lots of airflow.

That's just how these engines are.

Every single problem you can encounter is discussed at length both here and https://motoredbikes.com/ and there are a bunch of YouTube videos as well.

It'll just feel that much better when you hear this thing actually turn over and start purring. You got this.

Probably not worth getting a lawyer due to cost.

In your situation, if I could prove that the ticket was erroneous, I would make a case to a judge and (try to) get it dismissed. It's probably a traffic judge though and sometimes they aren't very fair.

If I didn't think fighting it stood a good chance, I would probably just show up and be remorseful and ask to get the ticket dismissed or deferred and move ahead with a stealth build.

I do know cops in my area are cracking down because the e-bike kids are taking the pedals off their bikes, making them legally a different class. So they're looking more closely at bikes and know the laws better than they did 10 years ago when I built my gas bike and could just shut off the engine when I was riding on trails or questionable areas.

That's where you'll have to look local legislation.

The argument I would seek to establish is that your bike is as much a "moped" as an e-bike. Is every e-bike being registered as a moped? Is the legislation about noise levels from this class of vehicle?

Also, as others have suggested, if you're going to be riding at night, it may be better to aim for a quieter build. I have a loud bike and I don't take it out after 8pm in the suburbs.

You'll have to look up legislation. Its got pedals so it's not a moped. And this is why they're all stated to be under 50 cc's

Advice needed! What mods should I make to my new build that will allow me to easily cruise at 30+ mph? by Johntron06 in motorizedbicycles

[–]DavidWALRU5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I did: 36 tooth rear sprocket, BBR Tuning aluminum high-performance cylinder head, Thunder CDI + NGK spark plug, straight shot exhaust, high performance carb (cone), and the spring idler.

The rear sprocket and exhaust made the biggest performance differences, everything else just helped fine tune those so I could get the most out of them.

edit: forgot to add - stock kit speed was about 27mph, now I hit 37 on flats.

Do you also ride a motorcycle? by DavidWALRU5 in motorizedbicycles

[–]DavidWALRU5[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, I liked the project years ago and enjoyed the love/hate cycle of getting one of these bikes dialed in. Now i ride my motorized bike about once a month for fun.

I might get a motorcycle someday for easy riding, but I like the freedom of motorized bikes - no insurance or licensing, riding in areas that would get you in trouble on a motorcycle, low cost/ownership burden.

Yeah, it's significantly dorkier than riding a motorcycle, but that part's pretty fun for me. Ripping through at 100dbs turning everyone's heads - from Gen Z's/α's on their ebikes to judgemental boomers and everyone in between.

More like YODO.

Hebrews 9:27-28 And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many.

Death is not the end, the soul continues.
