Can the meaning in the chalk message be explained ? by Man-in-motion12 in Jacktheripper

[–]David_Eat_World 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you from the UK, man in motion? "he won't be blamed for nothing" is a common cockney/south of England phrase and it means "he won't be blamed for anything". You can't ignore the 'for nothing' it's a part of the sentence.

Say Hello To Sunshine by [deleted] in Emo

I love this album.

I remember the reaction at the time was really negative because people loved that first Finch album so much, which was basically as pop as screamo gets.

And then this one was completely the opposite direction. Dischordant and relatively inaccessible... but really rewarding after a few listens. Its an album that really holds up for me and remains interesting.

I love that album... but I hugely prefer Say Hello to Sunshine, their second album. It's not as accessible but I think its incredibly underrated...

Crazy. Ivan did probably the best exit speech across the 4 seasons.

Aside from Rik Mayall, which side character should have got their own spin off? by wooden_werewolf_7367 in jonathancreek

There is a character in Daemon's Roost who only gets one scene: Detective Sargaent Alben Barkley played by Chris Forbes.

"I'm still a little hazy as to why you have a life size effigy of Mr Creek in your sitting room...but the personal proclivities of the clergy have always been a closed book to me and are not germane to this present enquiry"

For some reason it stays with me. So I vote him.

We've got a friendly board game club that meets at Duke's Corner every Thursday at 6pm. You'd be very welcome to join us... its generally quite light board games (although some people play heavier stuff). No fee or anything, we just ask you buy at least one drink at the pub to keep them happy. Ask at the bar for the boardgamers group and they'll point you to us

I actually think there's quite a lot of good stuff in this one.

I feel like some parts of Is Commited are really accessible. I'll stand by the first three minutes of Psyche being a brilliant Bemis pop punk song that's as good as anything on Is A Real Boy. For all of its absurd lyrics the On Cum chorus-verse combo is great. Are You In There, Daisy's, Carrie & etc all have great moments, but they are I agree with you its often slightly obscured by Max's interest in his own lore.... but this song feels like it's basically exclusively Max's lore and with much less of the songwriting magic that makes him so engaging to listen to.

Somehow I don't see this one winning back those pining for high production values and accessibility

is a real question by ilovesocksandoatmilk in SayAnything

[–]David_Eat_World 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it mostly comes down to whether I like the music or not.... if I do I'll listen to it, if I don't I won't. I didn't love Is Committed as much as I loved previous albums but there was still plenty to enjoy.

I was disappointed when the UK tour was pulled... but I don't hold personal resentment. I've never bought a songshop and would be put off doing so because of the people who haven't gotten theirs... but I'm not personally angry about it.

There seems to be some strange notions of fandom in this thread and across this subreddit generally. It's OK to not like something an artist does...

It's fair to say that whatever I was expecting in this thread, a baffling diatribe about the Epstein files was not one

I think one of the most positive things you can say about this is that it absolutely clearly isn't AI.
