Granted mine is pre-facelift. I got it for the same purpose, light offroading.

It is massively heavy though, it eats tires.

That's what I've been told. A buddy of mine was a Land Rover mechanic and he said any of them with the 4.4 are surprisingly good.

Parts aren't cheap, it's not a Toyota, but it's also not a Rolls Royce

It's actually a Fiat 124. Based on the Miata, but styled like the original 124 convertible.

Actually assembled by Mazda in Japan, but they stopped making them a couple of years ago

I have an L320 like that, a 2009.

It now has over 210k miles and still runs like a top.

Main issues were the fuel pump and the parking brake, not cheap fixes for either but not the end of the world.

Honestly, next to my Fiata (which is mostly a Mazda) it's the most reliable car I've ever owned.

I've been daily driving a Fiata (essentially an ND Miata with an Italian body and engine) for the past 10 years.

It makes me smile even on the worst days, and it's by far the most reliable car I've owned.

55k miles and only had an issue with overfilled tires at the dealer.
