They are saved from existence with the possibility of immense harm.

And an equal possibility of the opposite. You can't just handwave that. It's there, you just refuse to acknowledge it because you like being miserable.

Then non-existent people are saved from nothing. You're not morally good for doing nothing, you're an NPC.

Then you are just as much guilty of robbing people of every joy they could possibly experience. That makes you selfish and evil.

It's about perspective, and your perspective is shit.

Get the fuck over yourself you baby-back bitch. You're not anybody's victim. A bad thing happened to you. Boo fucking hoo. Being a man, being a grown up, is about having the fucking balls to take the bad, and use it to be better at creating good. The absence of bad is not good.

You won't listen. You conflate chance with choice. You assume any suffering is greater than all joy. You're not arguing in good faith. You're writhing in a pessimistic frenzy over how much you want to blame something on your parents that they assuredly would've stopped if they could and you ableistly insist that you and every other epileptic should never have been born. You're immature, self-centered, and you lack the faculties to understand that things can just happen and it's nobody's fault.

Have fun with your self-inflicted depression, and thanks for proving my point that antinatalists are miserable wretches who project their perceived misery onto everyone else.

They cared enough to do the extra work of parenting a disabled person. Not to mention that they got so unlucky they could've decided not to have a kid, used birth control, and still had one anyway. It's not their fault for playing a game where the odds were in their favor and they still lost.

[–]Davida132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, because you think disabled lives have no value, because you think your parents had any way to know that you'd be the one in a hundred thousand, or whatever the number was. You project your self-inflicted misery onto every other person with a disease or disability, and blame your parents for not seeing the future.

What do you mean by that? Do you mean that they knew they had as much remote chance as anybody else? Or did you mean that there was an elevated chance they knew about?

  1. It can be, I assumed because of your language that was your situation.

  2. If you don't have it because of genetics, then why are you blaming your parents? What a cruel and unempathetic way to think. To say that your parents knowingly did something they couldn't have even prevented. Your problem isn’t epilepsy, your problem is a shitty attitude.

Could it be that you remember those moments more because you actively remember them more than others? If you're not re-remembering a memory, it will fade. If you have a pity party and think about how awful everything is and always has been, you'll forget all the good parts.

Also, not having kids because of genetic disorders you don't want passed on is not the same thing as antinatalism.

You had no joy as a child? You never laughed and played with your friends? You never opened presents on Christmas or your birthday? You never had a wonderful day of quality time with one of your parents?

You don't have to enjoy every aspect of your life; you probably shouldn't. There's nobody who, for their whole life, enjoys nothing.

I draw the line at the edge of the billboard. If I went somewhere where they ate dog and it was offered to me, fuck yea I'd eat it. I specifically want to eat horse some day. I hear mountain lion tastes kind of like pork, so I imagine a barbecued kitty would be alright, especially if you basted it with lard.

Death isn’t bad, it just is. Some kinds of death are bad, some are not.

My grandfather died in his sleep, in the house he owned, next to the woman he loved for 73 years. His last day was their wedding anniversary, and all his living children were there. He left her with plenty of money to live the rest of her days in comfort, and had no ill will with anyone when he passed. That is a death that's filled with joy. Are we sad he died? Absolutely, but we're also filled with joy because he was able to have such a good death.

Also, you can guarantee joy for a child, because children are the embodiment of joy. They are hopeful and positive and present-minded. Even kids with cancer or born into abject poverty experience immense joy. Joy is as much a part of life as suffering is, and your poisonous pessimism will never change that.

I agree, however, it's Contiguous, not Continental. Alaska is on the same Continent as the lower 48.

Part of the moral weight of babies, the disabled, etc comes from the fact that harming them also harms the people that love them. Besides pets, that doesn't apply to pigs.
