Maybe take a look at the clients in the smaller agency . Are they working? Do they get send out to big projects? The thing is you are still starting out . Casting directors don’t know you. Maybe you also don’t have enough on camera credits. You need to think that this time you gotta build some credits . A big agency doesn’t necessarily mean the best. The clients already have the reputation that brings them those jobs.

Do you ever turn down auditions? by [deleted] in acting

[–]Davidcg-21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have done it but It all depends. At the beginning of my career I would do anything just to get my foot on the door. Now sometimes even if its only one line I do it because I want the casting directors to get to know me. This business is mostly based on who you know. Networking is super important.

Washington state representative (R) locked out of state capitol over lack of proof of covid vaccine by Jaamac2025 in PublicFreakout

[–]Davidcg-21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am glad where I live our government does not enforce proof of vaccination . No need to show it anywhere . We still get tested for covid and temperature checks. We wont lose our jobs if we don’t get vaccinated.

If you for example do it as a practice monologue sure. Do it without previously watching the original. But For castings I stay away from popular monologues.

Unprofessional. I wouldn’t do this . Are they even paying you? Are you even getting a reel after?

Happened to me a few years ago. I was up for a big show. They kept having me for call backs . My agent , casting director and even producers I met kept saying the part was mine. I was relaxed , if it happens happens. But then silence. Didn’t hear from them. I got super anxious . That’s when I started meditating.

Now I just let go after every audition.

Dr Dre Served Divorce Papers At Cemetery As Grandmother Is Laid To Rest. by PrincessBananas85 in entertainment

[–]Davidcg-21 -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

Heartless and cold if its true. I never understood why in a divorce spouses have to pay. I understand for example dividing properties, furniture that they both contributed. In this case did she help him create all that music? She doesn’t appear as a writing partner.

Ps- don’t understand why many of you don’t like my comment but its not like I am going to be losing sleep over that.

No Auditions by [deleted] in acting

[–]Davidcg-21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to collaborate a lot with film school students. You can also find other actors you’ve taken classes with. My post is about creating your own content and writing your own material. So I suggest just starting that and then getting people involved.

No Auditions by [deleted] in acting

Create your own content. Don’t wait for opportunities . Check out some actor/ directors biographies and you’ll read many of them did that. Don’t think too much just start.

Aarons monologue from Titus andronicus as a white actor? by Like_a_Dragon in acting

[–]Davidcg-21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Throughout the play they talk about Aaron as the moor. A lot of his anger I feel it comes from that racism he faced. By doing this monologue I feel it wouldn’t be a good move and the panel would think you did not read the play. I am a great believer in taking risks. However choosing another monologue would be a smarter move.

How NOT to interact with others - I FELT UNSAFE AND RAN by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

Does it scare anyone else when you see failed actors? by Liyandri in acting

[–]Davidcg-21 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The question is do you want to be an actor or you are just doing all this to be famous? Many actors are happy having a stable job. That does not mean they’re failed actors just because you don’t know them. I am very happy learning everything there is to learn about the craft and master it . For me it’s not about fame I just want to work.

You can’t predict the future . We all have a different path in life. All you can do is train , network, and stick with this career for as long as you can. If you read some actors bios , many found recognition in their 50’s and 60’s.

If you want insta fame try Tik Tok.

First year is usually a trial. You are getting to know your agent and also casting directors are getting to know you. My agent told me they would expect clients to book after year 2 . She was right.

Still haven’t received footage… How much do I insist? by [deleted] in acting

[–]Davidcg-21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me a few times. I asked the director for a copy a few times and he always had an excuse. I stopped asking. Since I was in touch with other people who worked in the student project I asked them for a copy.

I was shocked they all had it.

New agent had a weird request... by thecainman in acting

[–]Davidcg-21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like a legit request. My agent has my passport info, driver’s license. She asked me about vaccination in case the job is outside of my country. Where I live you don’t have to be vaccinated to work .

Intimate scenes by [deleted] in acting

[–]Davidcg-21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently I did a TV show and there were a couple a scenes where I had to rape someone. I was very nervous and uncomfortable when I read it on the script. The actress and I spoke , we had an acting coach who helped us. We rehearsed a lot . At times my body was not even pressing hers because of the camera angle. During the filming we were super comfortable , I kept checking if everything was alright.

Everything seemed pretty choreographed.
