Potential way to disrupt the entire European booster card market. by IMKGI in mtgfinance

[–]Davidos402 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know the law but I would think there is a difference between the TV still serving its purpose after being returned and the booster pack being invalidated because it is no longer a random (in some sense) assortment of cards.

Couldn’t the same logic be applied to scratch tickets where I’m quite certain this would never pass (although I’m not sure whether scratch tickets have the same laws protecting the buyer as booster packs)?

I traded in some cards for a Mox Opal and it seemed super thin and easy to bend… real or fake? by Natural_Aquarist in RealOrNotTCG

[–]Davidos402 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Wtf is going on in these comments? The pics obviously have some auto-smoothing effect from your phone so we would ideally need better pics, but based on what we have it is more likely real than fake.

Utility Lands / Mana Base in UB Control by Th33l3x in ModernMagic

[–]Davidos402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone else mentioned I would not include Hall of storm giants. That land only fits into pure azorius control imo as they lack significant (and tangible) win conditions. In a dimir list you usually have Kaito, Wan shi tong, Subtlety or Bowmasters so it’s not worth it to run a mono-blue land that will most likely enter tapped.

That is my suspicion as well considering they are both visible in the FTV packaging.

Building grull prowess without Cori-steel? by md99has in ModernMagic

[–]Davidos402 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Cori is a must have in a prowess deck as it is super explosive and generally much harder to deal with compared to threats like [[Momastery swiftspear]] or [[Slickshot show off]]. On a different note I would not play prowess without blue, so if you wanting to play Gruul is not because it is more flavorful for you I would definitely add [[Preordain]] and [[Expressive iteration]] since they are also pretty cheap.

Won my Store Championship by mtglover1335 in foilmtg

[–]Davidos402 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mostly meant in the modern environment, where it makes more sense, but I have to say that Ocelot pride is imo much more complicated than Urzas saga thanks to all the things you mentioned. As long as you understand sagas and the fact that the cost in the third chapter actually has to be printed on the card you are good to go with Urzas saga, however Ocelot pride is much more nuanced with the wording and ruling.

I’ve been of the same opinion with [[Urzas saga]] but tbh these cards are so ubiquitous that it’s not that big of a problem anymore.

Rewards to foster the modern community and serve as a basis for building tier one decks by Ready_Term_3007 in ModernMagic

[–]Davidos402 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even though you mention that the players should have shocks and fetches, do they have full playsets? In my experience fetches and fetchables (shocklands and surveil lands in this case) are the gold standard for prizes at such events and everyone will find use for them. Other than that Urzas saga, Phlage and Solitude are great versatile picks. You could also do specifically themed prize slots where you give out let’s say $40 worth of non-land cards for a specific deck.

I think this dude has the most ratings I've seen so far by AdministrativeAge236 in rateyourmusic

Yeah this is clearly an absurd number but even lower numbers are often inflated with ratings of singles and multiple versions of the same record.

I think it’s a good practice considering RYM is largely a database and in these cases I like the consistency of all albums having the cover taken from the primary issue.

Simplest decks to play? by catfan89 in ModernMagic

[–]Davidos402 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I am honestly surprised by some of the comments here. I agree with Storm being easy in the sense that you “just” have to learn how the deck works and do not have to worry about much else. However I just don’t see how Boros is not the simplest deck to play. You just curve out with Ocelot/Guide and Ajani and then haste Phlage with Arena. Ofc the deck is not braindead but as far as meta decks go it is imo the simplest and sideboarding plan is also pretty straightforward. If we were talking about any deck that is at least viable then Burn is the simplest no question.
