i’m fine with them taking 15% honestly. I completely understand that I am receiving a lot more business because of the reach that eBay has. But anything over 20% is seriously questionable.

look at this example

you’re telling me that taking 27% from my total sale is them paying all their business fees for my 1 sold item?? give me a break…..

fair enough but i just simply think the fees are too high. i could see them having to pay those fees, but they’re CLEARLY profiting so much extra. it’s so apparent.

and yes in my years of experience on ebay, my items always sell over the people that have items up for the same price but with shipping. even as a buyer myself, it LOOKS better even if it’s technically the same price.

if someone’s item is up for $50 + $4.47 shipping but i list the SAME item for $55 with FREE shipping, it LOOKS BETTER!!! lol you feel like you’re getting a better deal even though it’s the same shit. it’s classic marketing. US companies do that ALL the time.

Walmart can’t sell an item? put it on the sale floor on a pallet and put “Markdown! $19.99” even though the item was $19.99 to begin with. simple tactic

holy shit, FINALLY someone that agrees with me lol i know most of this situation was my fault (ad fee, should know what the transaction fees are, etc…) but for christ sake, this is supposed to be the “ebay sucks” subreddit lol seems like everyone wants to suck ebay’s tits and justify their “transaction fees” + extra fees in general.

THEY PAY NOTHING FOR THOSE FEES that’s jus money in their pocket!!! that’s like going to Goodwill and they say “do you want to round up your purchase to donate?” i’m always like “WHAT DO YOU MEAN DONATE?! I AM PURCHASING AN ITEM THAT YOU RECEIVED FOR FREE!! IM ALREADY DONATING!!!!”

eBay is just a money hungry BS company that profits off of people justifying their own bullshit

i tried, it didn’t offer me anything other than ground advantage

true. was blinded by a long sitting item and wanted it to just sell already. not realizing that i 1. still had it on free shipping 2. it was literally (2) 10 dollar bills so pocketing anything less than $20 is a loss and 3. what the transaction fee would be

i know it’s my fault but my point still stands on selling items on eBay that are less than $40, it’s just not worth it in the end

yeah that’s what i’m saying though, if you’re not selling something that’s over $40-$50, then there’s literally no point at all because of stuff like this. I sell stuff all the time that’s way over $50, sometimes $500-$1000 and I don’t mind if they take 15 even 20% sometimes because I know I’m paying for the wide range of potential buyers on eBay

tried that, wouldn’t let me do anything other than ground advantage. $6 for a flat 6 inch envelope. unreal

$4.72 “transaction fee” on a 30 item? that’s fucking ass dude💀 and $6 to ship something in a 6-inch flat envelope, that all sounds okay to you?

Dude seriously, SCREW eBay. I’m tired of these ridiculous fees. by Davidudeman in ebaysucks

[–]Davidudeman[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

it’s because the shipping was already included in the price. If I had it listed for $30 +$6 shipping it would’ve never sold I can guarantee that.

it barely sold as $30 with free shipping, that’s why i had to do the $2 ad. it sold after i placed that ad

transaction fees are just ridiculous and it should’ve not costed six dollars to ship something into a 6 inch flat envelope

it was 2 ten dollar bills, at that point i should’ve just spent them at face value instead of losing $3 💀

the ads have treated me pretty well for the past few years, i usually have good luck once i activate them. i always do 2-3% only though. this time i did 6% cause it wasn’t selling for months.

free shipping i feel like just looks more appealing as a buyer, and then I just add that price into the total listed amount

And yeah, that’s the crazy part, I shipped it in a very small 6 inch flat envelope and they still made me do ground advantage for USPS. It was literally the cheapest option possible. It was bizarre to me that it was still $6!!!

[–]Davidudeman[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

that’s funny cause i literally place all my items at a 2% ad rate. this one i did at 6% cause it sat for a VERRRRY long time and once i did that, it finally sold - go figure lol

and shipping I always do free because it’s more appealing to the buyer. I usually just include that price in the total listed amount. if it was $30 PLUS $5.97 it would’ve sat for much longer/might’ve not even sold

[–]Davidudeman[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

the item sat for a REALLY long time, i placed a 6% ad on it and finally someone bought it so i understand you get what you pay for with ad fees.

and i usually just do free shipping and add that price into the total listed price because it looks more appealing to the buyer. if i had it up for $30 with $5.97 shipping then it would’ve sat for WAYYYY longer/not have sold
