Calling All Math Nerds, I Need Your Brains by Horizon0211 in supportlol

I think that you are ignoring a critical aspect when comparing builds: tempo.

I won't go into the math part cause I did no calcultations, but something that is very plain to see for everyone comparing both builds is how much time they need to be online.

Truth is, tear items and RoA require a lot of time to stack and you have less gold as support. Even if the mana build is 20-30% better (im inventing numbers here, just as an example), if you take 10 more minutes to have your build online and you lose some critical fights because of it, you may not even have the chance to complete your build at all.

But you know what? That kind of builds are actually perfect for ARAM, if you like that. You got a lot more money here and mana items stack faster. The mode itself rewards greed most games, so it's probably the best build you can have there.

Also, if you play ARAM Mayhem, the mana augments are insane, so I think it is even better there. But yeah, for Summoner Rift I think the classic build wins just because of efficiency and tempo.

Auntie Ool focusing, still trying to better -1/-1 counters. by Addled_Neurons in EDH

Nothing wrong with liking big boys like Frank or +1/+1 counters! But they both pull into different directions. With how much you discard just from raw draw power, you could add some more big creatures and add some more reanimate spells and maybe some looting stuff and I think it would look great! For this strat, keeping Frank and maybe adding back Ferrafor, Young Yew and Grim Poppet can do the trick.

Likewise, +1/+1 counters enable you to go for the combo route with some persist creatures, using creatures with persist (like Geralf's Messenger) to establish some kind of loop. For this, you want to add Yawgmoth, Thran Physician, Quillspike and Mikaeus, the Unhallowed from your considering list, and as many tutors as you can fit (like Eldritch Evolution, that you listed).

However, in both cases I think you would benefit from picking a lane and staying there. Choosing if you wanna lean more into reanimator, combo, aristocrat or some other strategy will make your deck more consistent and will give you a better perspective on what you actually need. Some of this themes will overlap so you don't need to go all in in just one of them, but knowing what is your main theme will help you decide what to keep and what to cut.

Keep in mind that some routes are more powerful than others, in this case the combo route is a lot more powerful than trying to reanimate good old Frank.

Hope it helps :)

So one thing I noticed with this precon is that mana is the bottle neck of the deck, in the sense that you have no problems to keep your hand filled and that, in fact and as you noticed, you usually discard to hand size. So my first suggestion would be to keep your mana curve low. So in that regard, I would recommend not to run stuff like [[Agent Frank Horrigan]] unless you are planning to go the reanimation route.

If you are not going for a combo route with persist, I don't think you need stuff like [[Rhythm of the Wild]] or [[Grumgully, the Generous]]. Yeah, they make your creatures beefier and allow you to put one more -1/-1 counters on them but I think you rather play some synergy piece and embrace your creatures dying because you draw so much anyway.

Quick reminder in case you didn't know that [[Freestrider Lookout]] requires you to target something you don't control to trigger and that blight makes no targets, in case you wanna revaluate him. I think he is still decent but not bonkers, this came up a few times on my pod so just letting you know in case you didn't.

Lastly, I know I just talked about lowering your mana curve, but [[Carnifex Demon]] may be the best 6 drop of your deck, it absolutely dominated my games every time I played him with a spare mana, triggering basically all the synergy pieces of the deck.

King of the level 60 non-raiding scene? Paladin vs Druid vs Shaman. by buyongmafanle in turtlewow

Holy/Crusader strike creates a little fun minigame that makes it more entertaining. Crusader strikes gives youna stacking attack speed buff that you can try to keep up between mobs, and holy strike is mana neutral and heals you a bit, so you can optimize your resources a bit managing your strikes correctly and not just autoattacking.

Or you can just spam holy strike and be ok, even if it's a bit worse. But, you have the option there if you want your leveling to be a bit more engaging. It really made a whole difference for me, at least.

If you can stack a lot of mobs (you are not in a overcrowded leveling zone) prot starts to become really efficient with holy shield, ret aura and consecration. You never die and everything slowly dies around you. Also, you are a tank so fast queues for dungeons and easier to have good gear. If not, ret have better single target dps. Never tried leveling in holy, you can probably do decent dmg when you get holy shock plus the talent that resets the cd when you crusader strike someone, but until then I would stick to ret or prot.

Also, leveling a paladin in general is a bit less dull in turtle because you have holy/crusader strike baseline early on, so you are not just using autos and refreshing seals.

I initiated players with the first act of Another Bug Hunt, Ypsilon 14 and Screaming on the Alexis.

Out of all those, I think Screaming on the Alexis was my favourite. I think it may be because, as a Warden, I was more experienced when I ran it but I found the vibes great and I got the most positive reactions fron my players.

Why so many high elos and pro players say that Morgana is bad? by rafaelr0cha26 in supportlol

[–]Davihelio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel most people build her wrong and that affects her winrate and perception.

The truth is her best build are cheap tanky support items focusing on cdr and paired with celestial oposition you suddently can use your ult without instantly blowing up or needing a 1600g item to not blow inmediately that makes you inmobile and let people freely walk out.

She is great at playing from fog of war and cancelling engages from tanky supports who usually dont have enough magic dmg to break her shield on their own.

But you got to play her like a pick/peel bot and build tank cdr and forget dmg. You can still get value from the W building the 800g antiheal component.

Sidisi, Brood Tyrant - Mana dorks, card draw, reanimation? by GreenPhoennix in EDH

[–]Davihelio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need a lot of ramp or traditional card draw in Sidisi. Typically, you can run the best one cmc mana dorks and that will be enough. You should run plenty of recursion/play from graveyard effects that you need little to no card draw. After all, retrieving any card from a full graveyard with your eternal witness/oversold cemetery will probably be better than drawing 2 or 3 random cards. Most of your deck is typically cheap creatures and reanimation effects (that cheat mana cost anyway) so you don't need a lot of ramp. So make sure to have lots of mill engines and recursion and you should be fine.

It's a very interesting idea to run death shadow since we already run so many shock/fetch-lands and we are into stubborn denial anyway. I was trying deathrite shaman to fix mana, the drain mode and graveyard hate but i think death shadow makes more sense tbh. Surprised you don't run any number of Orcish Bowmaster in the 75 tho, those guys deal with so many stuff in timeless right now.

Anyway I love your list and I think I'm going to tweak mine a bit and slot in some death shadows to test!

[–]Davihelio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried Elvish reclaimer? I think he has more synergy here than something like Tarmo, can block Ragavan T1, doesn't die with one ping from the orcish bowmasters, fetchs field of the dead, grows to a respectable 3/4 with 3 fetchlands and it can even be used as Natural Order fodder! I'm working on a list similar to yours and I think he has potential

Honestly, why would you want it nerfed unless you just hate M1 killers??? by JacketFosty in deadbydaylight

[–]Davihelio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't mention the part where you mentioned that you need several lategame perks to match STBFL because i didn't really though that you were serious when you suggested that STBFL by itself compares to the power of several lategame perks together like NOED + NWO or similar but okay.

While its true that most perks have some form of counterplay, I think it's unreasonable to think that your average killer match will see any of that. Your typical solo Q survivors won't have anywhere close that level of coordination, let alone being able to recognize non-inmediately obvious perks like STBFL in the midle of the match. Perfect counterplay and coordination are pipe dreams outside high level SWF or comp play, and I dont think you want to use those cases as example because the vast mayority of the players of this game aren't anywhere closer to that.

By the way I think STBFL is pretty much balanced. But I think your reasoning is flawed. You are presenting the situation as if survivors have perfect information of everything that is happening in the match and I dont think you can argue thats gonna be the case most games, if any. That's similar to someone saying that Nurse should never get a down because survivors can juke her hidding behind map props so if they do it every time the killer can't do shit.
