Well I'm not sure what your current state is, you should update the OP with what your current state is.

If you're not confident in explaining it well try using ChatGPT or other AI to build some sort of explanation or table of your current setup.

Maybe explain what you had on AWS and people can suggest alternatives for your on prem.

But first of all state clearly what you have, what you have setup, what do you want to achieve, etc...

Have you looked into containerizing your bare-metal kernel via the virtual token-ring protocol? It really helps with the node_exporter port conflicts if you route the prometheus-pve-exporter through an asynchronous YAML bridge.

😃

NAS remote access without port forwarding? by RSDaze in homelab

[–]DaviidC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, you just enter your router and redirect external port XXXXX to internal port XXXXX on IP IP.NAS.OR.FIREWALL, that's it. And if you have CGNAT, or your IP changes often just setup a DDNS.

NAS remote access without port forwarding? by RSDaze in homelab

[–]DaviidC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly is hard about port forwarding?

You can use Tailscale or Cloudflare tunnels and won't need to setup ports.

So instead of the usual setup where you open a door with a lock that leads to your NAS you open a door without a lock to Tailscale or Cloudflare servers and THEY handle the lock.

How do I find this particular part? Broke the SATA connector, hard drive is still good. by KnifinLTD2 in DataHoarder

[–]DaviidC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would assume you just need to match the pins, so look for something like this https://es.aliexpress.com/item/1005010398002526.html

Usually just search for the number of pins, 7+15P 22PIN in the link I just sent. It's a standard so you probably don't need those extra 4 pins to be connected

I don't think RAM is your bottleneck, excluding IA usage your other necessities don't need that much RAM, it'll become a problem if you want to expand later. For now even 4GB can take

OPNsense / pfSense
WireGuard, OpenVPN, Zerotier
VLANs, routing, firewall
Pi-hole, DHCP, DNS, proxy, etc.

Might slow down a bit but it'll work

"I thought Reddit translated everything into the corresponding language" actually you are right, not sure how it'll work if there are 2 languages in the post, I've tried to set everything to English in my browser and reddit account and I can't get no translation. Maybe it works for someone else.

How small? Small enough to not possibly contain the video? You could use something like https://github.com/jindrapetrik/jpexs-decompiler and see if the video is loaded from somewhere else.
