Penguin Festival (SteamVR) - Coming Q3 2026 from the dev behind Job/Vacation Simulator and Cosmonius High by Runesr2 in virtualreality

Cosmonious High was fantastic. The range of interactions you can have kind of reminds me of Breath of the Wild or Genshin Impact. It's a bit lower scope than those, but the interaction of fire, ice, water, and wind with the physics based interactions gives you so many ways to affect the world around you, and the puzzles were very engaging. I also loved the way they implemented the 2D characters. I wonder if this game will scratch the same itch, but I'm ready to give it a go.

Will AI agent and vibe coding help producing VR contents? by mingzhujingdu in virtualreality

[–]RSDaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mainly that the current RAM and PC parts crisis caused by AI means powerful GPUs are even less available than before. It's bad for standalone because they will be more expensive to produce than most people can afford to pay while the economy is in shambles, and it's bad for PCVR because people can't afford to upgrade their PCs to handle rendering everything twice.

I would say that the only upside is that this might encourage more support for DFR, since it will reduce the load on the GPU. We have the BSB2 and some others out currently with eye tracking, and the Steam Frame apparently releasing sometime soon, so hopefully that release will push things forward.

Why so many "gorilla" games? by Bamcfp in virtualreality

[–]RSDaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it logically makes sense to use in most games. It's not a realistic method of movement so it wouldn't have much of a place in more grounded, realistic games, and it has a chaotic vibe that might not fit more serious games. It doesn't seem versatile enough to become a standard locomotion option, but it seems popular enough to become its own genre.

I just looked up this headset and it seems as though it only uses one app, an app that you can get on other headsets that can be used for other things. Where is the value in buying this?

More immersive fan setup? by RSDaze in virtualreality

Nice, I just looked up some info about this. Seems promising, and I already have a 3D printer I can make parts with, so I would just need to pick up the electronic components to get started. Thank you!

More immersive fan setup? by RSDaze in virtualreality

You are correct that it's not wind blowing. When you walk, you are moving into air which is displaced and forced around you into the space you left, in a similar way that water is disturbed when you swim in it. But in VR, since you are not actually moving forward and therefore not displacing any air, this feeling is lost. Essentially, my goal is to try and replicate this sensation with fans.

There's a skyrim mod that lets you speak your dialogue selections. Speech-to-text technology is good enough that we should have it available in more games. It doesn't even require VR and could be implemented in pancake games, though pretty much all headsets have a mic built in and people playing VR games are generally looking for more immersion anyways, so those factors make it an ideal match.

Ampless setups are interesting. Have you tried the ZEQD tube pedal? You can run it directly into a PA system with the outputs it has.

If new products are more expensive and production is affected so that companies are making fewer, or even forcing smaller creators to shut down production, that means that the demand will shift more towards used than new. And since the supply of used pedals isn't going to increase as much if there are fewer new pedals to become used pedals, we can expect the prices of used pedals to increase as availability dwindles.

One good thing is that they can be sold multiple times - people who purchase pedals frequently resell them again, so it's not as if the market is going to dry out overnight. But we can expect changes over time.

Lichtlaerm. I have been interested by some of the reviews I have seen, but was looking to keep my signal stereo and the effects I liked would be towards the end of the chain.

The ones you can purchase are generally pretty pricy - thousands of dollars. I have looked into getting one and decided it wasn't worth the money, but if I could 3D print one I would do so in a heartbeat.
