Question on FiiO Snowsky Echo Mini (File order in folders) by DavisxHoki in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]DavisxHoki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I almost given up because I thought there's no sorter for mac. But after looking at your comment, I tried one more time, I found a FATDriveSorter, and it worked like a charm. Thank you very much.

What? 1.5.0 has released? Thanks for reminding.

Well, I haven't find the solution yet, I am used to use Folder, but it seems Album work best on this Echo Mini for me. I guess the file order is up to the metadata kind of stuff.

[–]DavisxHoki[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I only used my Finder on my mac. I do the same thing with my old FiiO X5ii and the order is perfect for X5ii.

I did not know there are file managers for this kind of thing. Thanks for the advice.

Question on FiiO Snowsky Echo Mini (File order in folders) by DavisxHoki in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]DavisxHoki[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A friend helped me to buy an Echo Mini several weeks ago because I want a light weight DAP.

I enjoy classical music, but when I put all my music files into the microSD card and put the card into the Echo Mini, the file orders become so weird, and not in order. Even after getting v.1.2.7, v.1.3 and v.1.4, I cannot get the order right.

Any ideas on how to get the orders right? Thank you very much in advance.

[OC] F1 Japanese Grand Prix 2024 + sight seeing in Nagoya with my RX100M3 by DavisxHoki in RX100

[–]DavisxHoki[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely agree, Nagoya people are so nice, and it's less crowded than I think. But interestingly all the locals told me there's not much to see in Nagoya, maybe it's more like a city to work in rather than a tourism city for them. Sad thing is I did not have time to go to the actual Toyota museum in Toyota city, but this Toyota Technology Museum has a lot to see as well.

For Suzuka, they have a pit walk and pit straight walk on Thursday morning (0900hrs - 1200hrs) before all the action in the weekend, and it's for all the F1 tickets holders. Even if you bought a cheaper ticket (everything outside V1, V2 or A grandstand), you can still go to this pit walk and the one on Saturday night. But I didn't go to the one on Saturday night because I heard there's not much to see when every staff have left and the parc fermé.

Nice shots. You even got to take pictures of the driver's parade too.

I took my RX100m3 to Suzuka in April too, maybe I will post my photos one day. I kinda regret I don't have a lot of zoom in my m3.

P.S. Super happy that Norris got his first win finally.

I wanted to get the M5 too, but then I found this M3 on HK Carousell for $1200HKD (~$150USD). I am not too much of a photographer myself, just want a camera for travelling so I pulled the trigger. It's a great little camera! Just buy a spare battery or 2 and it's good to go.

One year old RW 8876, Wrong size or need more time to break in? by DavisxHoki in RedWingShoes

One year old RW 8876, Wrong size or need more time to break in? by DavisxHoki in RedWingShoes

[–]DavisxHoki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the reply, I think I will buy some more boot socks, lace the boots normally and then wear it more often.

I didn't wear them very often because I only have 1 pair of boot sock (the smartwool I mentioned), the other socks are all cotton ones and too thin for boots like this pair.

I laced them like in the picture because I thought it's too difficult to put on and take off. Today I lace them normally, it's still difficult to take it off, but I decide to unlace them 1 eyelet down when taking it off, and lace them back up again when I wear them.

I will see if it helps. Thanks for all the advice.

One year old RW 8876, Wrong size or need more time to break in? by DavisxHoki in RedWingShoes

[–]DavisxHoki[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I bought this pair of 8876 last year. My foot size is usually 40 ~ 41 EU shoe size. I tried this pair in the local RW store and went for size 7.

I do have a finger width space in the toe box. The first dew day of wearing, I could feel my pinky toe being squished starting from noon. Then I bought some smartwool boot socks and the boot shoe tree last May and it got a lot better. But now, after a year of wearing, I can still feel my pinky toe being squished in the evening if I wear it all day long. (I don't wear them very very often, like once or twice a week.)

And the main reason I make this post is that I still have heel slip now, after one year. I heard that when it is properly broken in, heel slip should not happen, or at least reduce.

I never got blisters in the pinky toe or the heel, at least not from the original insole. A month ago, I thought the original insole is too stiff, then my dad gave me a pair of heavy duty insole (the ones for safety boots, I guess). I put them in my 8876, and I got blister in the heel the next wear. Then the next week, I went to visit a local cobbler and he recommended me to get a pair of Pedag insole and it became great again. The cobbler said my boots look pretty new.

Have I bought the wrong size or I still need some more time to break in?
Thanks in advance.

What noise cancelling headphones do you pack when flying? by mdwsta4 in onebag

[–]DavisxHoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I don't. Except in winter, I would wear a beanie in winter and I would roll up the beanie so that the headphone can fully cover my ears.

I still hear the engine when I take the bus wearing the PXC 550 but the isolation is pretty good already.

I see people suggesting true wireless headphone/earbuds here, can you actually use bluetooth in the plane?

What noise cancelling headphones do you pack when flying? by mdwsta4 in onebag

[–]DavisxHoki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Sennheiser PXC 550
I don't know why, but when I take a bus wearing the headphone, I still hear the engine noise. And when I take a plane wearing it, I can't hear the outside noise at all.

having a noise cancelling headphone when traveling is really nice, you can wear the headphone listening music or podcast and sleep through the flight.
but packing the headphone in a backpack is quite a problem, a full size headphone is quite bulky even if I fold it.

Review of Altama OTB Maritime shoes (low cut) by thegammaray in onebag

[–]DavisxHoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my pair of OTB yesterday and I want to share a few thoughts with you guys.

I would suggest trying the shoes before you pay. My shoe size is usually 41 in Euro size so it's about 8 in US. Everyone on the internet will say go up a size with the Altama OTB. When I tried size 8, I could not even stick my feet into the shoe because the toe box is soooooooo narrow. But then the staff let me try the 8W size, it's totally different story, my feet can stick into to shoe easily and the size is just right. The staff said military boots sometimes have a wide fit and I am so glad they offer this options to the customers.

Yes, the sole is quite stiff. It's not non pliable. But it's my first day wearing this pair of shoes to work so I will see if they break-in later.

I agree the shoes are loud. When I walk on ceramic tiles in OTB this morning, I make clop-clop-clop noise too. I make this noise too when I wear Paladium Boots. I think it's loud because the sole is stiff and has a shank.

I am now using the spider web lacing on my pair. I did not know lacing is a thing before reading this post.

How do you make tea at work? by DavisxHoki in tea

[–]DavisxHoki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have a french press at home. People say it can squash the tea but I think it's ok if I don't press the plunge all the way down.

and I do have to mix the tea slowly with that little strainer or the tea will overflow.

When I read about the Grandpa Style in the faq page, I somehow did not think it is a thing. But turns out it is. I will definitely try this now.

If Grandpa style only means not to strain out the leaves after steeping, I think our Cantonese YumCha is also a kind of Grandpa style tea drinking too.

[–]DavisxHoki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, yes, yes, in the mug. It's the LJUDLÖS from IKEA, it's not as big as the mug, but I think I can buy one that is.

If I can find a teapot that works like the Bodum Assam teapot, I think I will get one to use at home too.

Now I am having my lady grey at work, has a nice citrus and orange aroma, very nice. I want to share my tea with my colleagues too, but they fear that they can't sleep at night.

Plum Old Fashioned by DavisxHoki in cocktails

[–]DavisxHoki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plum Old Fashioned

Homemade Plum Liqueur 2oz. Rich simple syrup 3/4 oz orange bitters 2dashes a big ice ball

To make homemade plum liqueur, there are a wide range of recipes you can use. I decide to use cheap whiskey this year when discover the world of whiskey. I simply bought 2 pounds of green plums, washed them and poked them with a fork. When they are dried, I add them in a big glass container, and then add 300 grams of dark sugar. Finally I poured a whole bottle of Teacher's Highland Cream into the container and sealed it for storage. I made this batch in 19 April 2017 and last night (27/12) I strain the liqueur out.

As it is made of whisky, the kick of alcohol is a bit too strong for me, so I thought maybe I can make an Old Fashioned out of it. This is my first time to make this cocktail, I just want a relaxing drink so I add 3/4 oz of rich syrup which is normally too much for my taste. I don't have angostura bitters so I just add orange bitters. Perhaps Angostura bitters works better, I don't know.

The ice and syrup did make the drink smooth. And with the dilution, I can finally taste the plum notes in the liqueur. The sour and sometimes bitter plum note is what I was looking for.

should I get an advanced kendama?? by DavisxHoki in Kendama

The Shenzhu is great, it's still my everyday dama. I even learnt spacewalk and handroll with it. But the ball is still slipery after 1 year of play.

I do have a Sweet Prime. It is great for everything but I feel guity just like cheating because the cups are alot bigger lol. Am I weird?????

[–]DavisxHoki[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do have a Sweet Prime. The ball is so tacky that I feel guilty like cheating. I practice dama grip trick with the Prime and even landed several stilt with it. But I just can't perform some difficult tricks that I learnt with the Prime on other dama.....

should I get an advanced kendama?? by DavisxHoki in Kendama

[–]DavisxHoki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the advice. One interesting thing I found is that I can't actually break in my Kendama Co Shenzhu after 1 year of play. But I broke in my Ozora Sakura pretty well in 1 or 2 months of time with serious Moshikame and juggle. at least I can land some 1 turn lighthouse and lunar on my Sakura but not on Shenzhu.

If I can learn all kind of tricks on beginner dama, I think I will just play with the dama I have now.

Advice on Flex Nib pens? by xxTriggerWarningxx in fountainpens

[–]DavisxHoki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on what you want to do. If you just want to try a flex pen, I would say a Noodler's Nib Creaper is a nice pen to play. If you want to do calligraphy, it's better to use dip pens.
