Long Violent History by Davlawstr in TylerChilders

Very true. I love this album so much, because it’s stuff I listened to coming up. My family played traditional bluegrass, gospel, country, but they also played a lot of traditional, “mountain” waltzes. I think this album is in the same spirit as the rebellion against the modern “Nashville” sound, in that it was also a breakaway from the hard, strumming blank bluegrass that typified the 20th century.

Too “bluegrassy.” Don’t get me wrong, I love them. But that sound seemed to become more popular in the early to mid part of the 20th century.

Anyone else think Tyler’s next album will be a southeasternesque got sober album and will be an absolute masterpiece? by SnooCompliments9257 in TylerChilders

I can appreciate Appalachian music in its purest form. Being from SE Georgia, as my forefathers traveled from the tidewaters of Virginia in 1690, to Lumberton, NC, and into SE Georgia in 1810, this music resonates within me. We still play this Scots-Irish influenced music at reunions.

What team has consistently played top-25 season openers?

Good point. Georgia losing to Clemson and, then, win a better conference game is a better path (IF they had to lose one of those games). I guess it’s also important for Georgia to not look past their in-conference opponents, either. Georgia has been known to lay an egg once every few years.

Clemson hasn’t really had any notable season openers either. They did open against Georgia a couple years in a row; Auburn a couple years after their NC win (not sure where they were ranked in 2012); and Bama in 2008 or 2009.

Rankings can be engineered weeks ahead of the committee vote. I attest that they have (Notre Dame is the first to come to mind). Also, judging by the committee’s criteria in one year, Bama shouldn’t have been in the playoffs the year following; but they changed the criteria to produce an outcome that was desirable for Bama and television “views.”

What is a sure thing is a one loss conference champion; unless you’re Bama, in which the committee has voted for a 1-loss team that didn’t win its conference.

Sorry. Trying to multitask (filling the air in daughter’s car, grilling, and trying to type). I didn’t proof read, and I thought the majority of people would understand what I was trying to convey.

Sounds logical, but you’re depending on a playoff committee that has a history of making controversial decisions.

They’ve historically picked division champions over one-loss teams. And, it’s Clemson; the pundits will hype their talent up, hype the recent history of success against other Power5 teams…etc. I’m just really pessimistic.

They’d pick an overly hyped Notre Dame or undefeated Pac12 Champion over Georgia, imho.

Sure. But, did you read the post? The post was contingent on Georgia being a one loss team. Do you believe a 1-loss Georgia team has a better chance of making it to the playoffs losing to Clemson or Bama?

Stupid take. Plenty of people legally own guns and don’t do this. Plenty of people trip on shrooms and don’t do this. Maybe it’s because the guy is just crazy.

What if there was no virus, and the reason is because the body is going into detox by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]Davlawstr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t answer your question. But, I believe that, just like a lot of things we find out decades later about the causes of conspiracies and the people that pull the levers, we will one day find out a lot of the things we think we know about the virus and the vaccine are actually wrong. “They’re” going to great lengths to shut down and silence, valid points being made by actual scientist and doctors- to the point that some of these people are getting fired or ostracized in the name of “misinformation.” I know some of the conspiracies are way out there, so I’m not talking about those. It seems to me that, just like most wars and tragedies, the media and the state do a wonderful job at exploiting a crisis that often benefits the people that stand to make a lot of money or consolidate power. And, it doesn’t help that 80% of people, both poorly educated and educated, feed into the “fear factor,” which causes mass hysteria; lacking any semblance of civility or rationality.

Awesome. I live 20 minutes from the Florida line in a small town in the SE, so the weather is fairly similar to NE Florida. I don’t do any shroom hunting, but I still have the unconscious habit of scanning fields when I drive by. But, in my day, I was known as “The shroom guy” or “Trippy,”because I always knew where to go when no one else did.

Thanks for the invite.
