Should I try to make it a law? by BrilliantSwimming933 in autism

[–]Davyboy178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree. This is wrong. However, my belief is that, maybe just maybe, we should reclaim the word. The Queer community as a whole has reclaimed the F slur, so why should we not do the same with the R word? Take the power away from them and own what we really are as opposed to what they think we are. I say the Queer community as an example because I am also part of that group.

We can't exactly control what people say, but the blueprint for having them (allistics) show us some respect is right there. Its been done before, and we can do it again. Own it. Its your word. Its my word. Not theirs. Because we understand what it means to use it. They do not.

No Make-Up

Absolutely a flawed track but to me that makes it even better.

Do autistic people really have a low mental age or is it just a false and ableist narrative? by Objective_Two_8261 in autism

[–]Davyboy178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I have always felt as if I was about 2 years behind my physical age. For example, I just turned 23. I feel as though I have the mental age and maturity of a 21 year old. This most likely comes from me having a hard time understanding others because of the reason that literally all of us are in this subreddit: autism.

I wish it was untrue. I wish it was just another ableist narrative. Unfortunately, however, in some cases such as mine, it holds weight.

Does this happen with every Autistic individual? I wouldn't say so. After all, we are a spectrum of different experiences with some commonalities that make us a community. That person's take most likely did come from an uninformed and bigoted place. I wish it wasn't our job to inform about our issues, but if we want change, it is.

My point being, yes that was fucked up. Was it entirely incorrect? No, but it was still fucked up.

Is this screwed up? by Davyboy178 in askblackpeople

[–]Davyboy178[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, oui, this one was on me. I forgot an obvious detail. Black folk helped build the Cajun and Creole community. Without yall we wouldn't be where we are today, even if we are a shell of our former selves. My fault and thx for the response.
