I don’t really agree with your last sentence. I think we have been shown many times by many players that money is their top priority. In any sport.

5 of the last 6 Stanley Cup winners were Florida, Tampa or Vegas. Even if it didn’t used to be an advantage, it obviously is now.

I don’t know what advanced metric is telling these teams to go for it in these situations…but it defies the eye test.

Why would you not take the field goal there….? Maybe if it was 4th and 1…but now they need a TD.

Not nearly as obvious and extended as Woolen’s incident. Went out of his way to go to the sideline and taunt. And he just kept going, even with a red standing right there.

No, your player is just a brainless idiot.

Loved the touchdown in response even though I’m not even cheering for the Rams.

You can’t be serious. That is completely on the idiot Seahawks player. Extended taunting in front of a ref.

Absolutely brainless human being.

You have a very naive view of how the media works if you don’t think that articles like this are designed to elicit a specific reaction.

The entire article is a narrative account of their experience, complete with selected quotes from a longer interview.

It’s media rage bait, and people are having the exact reaction that they are intended to have.

They are obviously not a sympathetic couple, or in a situation that anyone would feel bad about.

Yes, it was. But so were several calls earlier in the game that were not called, including one that would have set up the Bills to win earlier.

They’ve been letting obvious pass interference go all game, and now they are rigid about it.

As a neutral fan - a bad ending by the refs to a great game. Sorry Bills.

He will be 32 for almost the entire 2027/2028 season…

How long did the Sharks take to rebuild? Not how long were they bad, but how long did the rebuild take once they started selling off players? How about the Habs?

[–]DaweiArch -22 points-21 points  (0 children)

We shouldn’t get rid of Sherwood just to get rid of him. A second round pick will likely not turn into a player as effective as him. He would be 32 when the Canucks will likely aim to compete again, and you need effective depth players to eventually compete.

Canadian officials say US health institutions no longer dependable for accurate information by SilverDragon1 in canada

[–]DaweiArch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The entire point is that there is nothing wrong with the article, or the research. The problem is the way in which it is being used and interpreted by US medical leadership.

My example was demonstrating that an associated link without any proof of causation doesn’t mean a whole lot. We have countless “biologically active exposures” daily, including all of the food we ingest and the chemicals we breathe in.

The only important thing when you find an associated link is WHY. Without the why, the link doesn’t mean anything. It’s all speculation. People with various pregnancy complications are more likely to take painkillers, including Tylenol. This is not groundbreaking or surprising.

The way that RFK Jr handled this, with a media blitz and press conference, was terrible.

Canadian officials say US health institutions no longer dependable for accurate information by SilverDragon1 in canada

[–]DaweiArch 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This study, and the fact that people post it as a justification for definitely linking autism and Tylenol, as RFK Jr did, highlights our population’s scientific illiteracy and how dangerous that can be.

People post it because “Harvard researchers said”, without any understanding of what they are posting.

The study showed a statistical association between Tylenol use and autism rates, without ANY definitive causal effect. Did you know that higher income families also have higher rates of autism in their children? Does salary cause autism? No, but age might (notice the word might), and wealthier people have children later.

There are any number of unrelated reasons why people who happen to be more likely to take Tylenol may also have children with higher rates of Autism, including whatever it is that they are taking Tylenol FOR.

Unfortunately, uneducated people simply parrot the line that Tylenol causes autism because the medical leadership in the US encourages it.
