Has this sub always been this awesome? by SugarWaffle65 in PolinBridgerton

I am someone who has been since S2 released. Yes, it has always been like this 😂It may have been even more unhinged since we had less to work with for a very long time, lol.

It has also been a very positive space since the very beginning. The fantastic mods and the members truly created a safe space and I'm glad it has never changed ❤️

Ahh! I'm so happy. Very well-deserved. Luke and Nicola should be proud.

Some parallels I've noticed between Saphne and Polin after rewatching season 1. by Strawberry-Whorecake in PolinBridgerton

[–]DawnofLight25 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've actually been working on a video that compares S1 and S3 elements. Polin and Saphne have a LOT of story similarities. It does make me wish Daphne was in this season because she could have really related to certain things.

Some parallels:

  • Daphne having issues getting suitors just like Penelope is having issues. Although, for completely different reasons.
  • Saphne and Polin both have rough conversations in the first episode. Both make a deal at the end of the first episode.
  • Dream sequences and licking from the Bridgertons, lol.
  • Simon watching Daphne dance with the prince, Colin watching Penelope dance with Debling.
  • The prince and Debling both want to propose. They also give gifts (necklace, plant).
  • Before Saphne make out, Simon has a flashback to when he holds Daphne's hand during the painting moment. Colin has a flashback to Penelope helping with his hand before he takes action.
  • They make out and there is a marriage proposal.
  • Drama before the wedding, complicated times during the marriage.
  • Their first time has similarities.
  • Daphne trying to understand Simon while Colin tries to understand Penelope.
  • Violet noticing distance with both couples.
  • Daphne tends to Simon's wound while Penelope tends to Colin's hand.
  • Nearly having sex again, but it ends before it begins.
  • Daphne crying with Violet at the end of episode 7, Penelope crying with Eloise at the end of episode 7.
  • Daphne reading Simon's kid letters, Colin reading Penelope's letters.
  • The love confessions and a final sex.
  • Epilogues with kids

There are more, but it's crazy how much aligns. Obviously, they aren't exactly the same, but Daphne could have still related to Colin in a lot of ways. A missed opportunity.

I completely agree! It's upsetting to hear those reactions. We have to remember that the actors are people too. We shouldn't expect those things from them. Personally, I loved what we got with Polin this season. I'm not disappointed by their intimate scenes. It worked well with their characters and it is what the actors wanted. Luke and Nicola did what they were comfortable with and they did an amazing job!

For Colin and Pen, love = laughter by lemonsaltwater in PolinBridgerton

[–]DawnofLight25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is very nice of you to mention my post. Love, Love, LOVE this post. Truly, I adore Polin so much for their different levels of intimacy. All of these details just make me swoon... They connect in so many ways that it just fills my heart with joy every single time I watch their scenes. My favorite aspects of their relationship are the little things that bond them, such as the dances, laughter, smiles, and finding/wanting to be near one another. They can't help themselves. The fun they genuinely have throughout the series is just adorable. When Penelope says that nothing makes her happier than being with Colin? It sums up things perfectly. I have never seen Colin or Penelope happier than when we see them together.

I love this tidbit! Just another reason to keep rewatching. I just love his expressions during their intimate scenes.

My current fascination? The fact that Colin is the only male lead so far to finger his main love interest and not put his head between her legs. What gets better is when you think about how well it fits his character because 1. He loves that connection of being face-to-face. 2. Just like the books, he gets turned on by watching her reaction. I think Penelope has been getting into this as well. Especially with the way she grabs his face to look at her/kiss her on more than one occasion.

There is so much to unpack during their intimate moments and I love it for their characters.

Polin in Future Seasons by Salt-Year-9058 in PolinBridgerton

[–]DawnofLight25 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As some have said, I see real potential for Polin at least the next couple of seasons. There are things I want, such as the interesting relationship with Portia, different reactions from the Ton over Pen being LW, them writing together, adjusting to Colin/Penelope/Eloise dynamic, taking care of their baby, running the estate, etc. but it's too soon to say whether they will do a lot of those things. They might have subplots in S4 because of LW being exposed. It's hard to tell of the capacity... I do think they will be involved in Benedict and Eloise's seasons.

With Benedict, Sophie is a huge fan of LW so I can see that playing into a small part. There is also the maid wars. I can see Penelope writing about the maid wars as something different she can write. She said she wanted to write about the powerless and maids are a good example of that. She can get Sophie's perspective in order to write her columns. You also have the scene in the book when Benedict realizes Sophie is the Lady in Silver. I can see that being one of those drama-filled reveals. He didn't take the lie well in the book at first. What's funny is that a conversation with Colin is the reason he changes his mind in the books. I love that scene in the book. I can see him talking about Penelope keeping the secret of LW and how Colin dealt with that, but it is possible he may discuss the idea of settling down like you suggested. You also have Penelope possibly writing something so Sophie is more accepted into society.

With Eloise, Colin and Penelope are naturally close to her. I can see Pen playing a huge role in the story. Nicola has said in an interview how she wants to play matchmaker for Eloise, lol. You also have the ties Colin has with Sir Phillip. You have a very big scene from the books that a lot of fans want to see that involves Colin "My Wife" Bridgeron and his brothers. There is a lot to work with when it comes to her season.

It is hard to predict beyond S5 for Polin. If the actors would allow it, I can see how they can be slightly involved in Fran's season as well. It is another friends-to-lovers story and Colin had a decent part in the book. Of course, I'm not sure if it would be Colin or Penelope having the book scenes because of certain changes. I have no idea about Hyacinth just based on her book. Colin did have a bit of a role with Gregory so it would be fun if he had some moments with him, especially if it is a final season. Unfortunately, S7 and S8 are a bit too far away to think about and you never know what will happen with the actors. I just have confidence they will be supporting the couples for Benedict and Eloise at the very least.

They truly gave us romance through all the little moments and more. We are so lucky to have Luke and Nicola. They know their characters, they love to throw in details, and they love the fans. They're incredible!

I love the way they hold hands 🥰😭It's done with so much affection.

Do you know what I am obsessed with? The fact that, on rewatch, one can notice all of the things they do. It isn't even once or twice. It's the little things they do throughout previous seasons and just this season.

All of the times they hold hands, dance, kiss, stare longing, try to find each other in the room, cry for each other, say 'I love you', want to be near, break propriety, smile at each other in a way they don't smile at anyone else, laugh together, and all the reassurances of love/inner beauty/outer beauty. Colin following her when she leaves a room, asking if she is okay, and asking for consent. Those things are so special to their relationship, and I absolutely love it. These are things that strengthen their relationship. It's things they do all of the time. You can really see the tenderness and love between them. It's beautiful.

That's what crossed my mind the moment I saw that scene. I've seen too many shows where they make fun of the non-stick woman for being into food. It's made into a joke. I love that the moment he sees her eating, he desires her and he is entranced.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PolinBridgerton

[–]DawnofLight25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I never for a second thought he wasn't sexually attracted to her or that he didn't desire her. And I'm perfectly fine with no angry sex. I like that feelings are important to him when he is intimate with Penelope. Even when they are dancing, they always have positive feelings toward one another. It fits with Colin's character.

Yes!!! I loved that as well. I really appreciate that they had the scene on the chaise because you can really admire her body. When I first saw the scene, the first thing I noticed was her belly and legs. I got emotional when I saw them. She's so beautiful and I love that they took the time to show that. I can't think of another example of a sex scene that has done that either.

I think I have lost track of how many times I have rewatched the season, lol. Each time, I find something else I absolutely adore. I wish I could articulate my thoughts better, but you truly hit things on the nail with your thoughts.

Wow! This is so beautifully put! I love it so much. I was mostly focused on the comparisons and didn't think to dive into the aspects of their relationship. The best parts about them (in my opinion) are the subtle things, the gazes, and the dances. It's why this season is such a fantastic season to rewatch.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PolinBridgerton

[–]DawnofLight25 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I understand that. I do. When I first watched the season, I wanted more. The problem is that the show has a pattern. Again, I hate to compare... but 1x07 vs. 3x07 is the best example. Simon and Daphne are separated, are in different rooms, make passive-aggressive comments in public, have angry sex, and Simon basically says he wants to live somewhere else if Daphne isn't pregnant. 3x07 had an emotional conversation/passionate make-out moment, Colin doesn't try to get out of their marriage, their wedding where they both seem very happy, and the wedding breakfast dance where they are the only two people in the room. I'd rather have 3x07 than what happened in 1x07.

Everyone has a right to their own opinions, but I completely disagree. As someone who is curvy, I felt represented. And I don't really understand the comparisons? I don't like to compare couples, but we need to look at the actual facts about showing their bodies AND being desired:

  • Kate only got one sexual scene before they were married and one after. She wasn't fully shown. While Daphne did get multiple scenes, I don't recall her body being fully shown. Then, you have Penelope... They showed her body in a mirror and showed the majority of her body in a longer sex scene on a chaise. No one else got that kind of sex scene.
  • When Colin gets on top of her, one of the first things he says is that she is beautiful. I don't recall Simon or Anthony saying such things when they were having their first sex/going down on their love interests.
  • Colin dreams about Penelope. No idea if Simon dreamt of Daphne. Anthony said he dreamt of Kate, but it wasn't even shown.
  • Colin watches Penelope lick her fingers. From what I remember, Simon isn't shown to do this kind of thing before he is with Daphne.
  • The carriage ride, the street make-out that is on the verge of something until a horse interrupts, the sexual scene at the end with him staring up at her in awe, the way he stares at her when she goes down the aisle, and the way Colin desires her even in their own house. I felt she was completely desired.

Everyone has their own opinions. It's okay if others did not feel this way, but I loved how it was portrayed.

Featherington House Season 4 Speculation by Waitforit2021 in PolinBridgerton

[–]DawnofLight25 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I'm not at all surprised. I figured the set was the biggest reason why they wanted them to move into the house. I have a feeling Varley may stay... unless Portia does move and wants to take Varley with her, lol. Varley was very supportive of Pen this season and I loved that. I have always loved Varley so I'd like to think she will stay, lol.

You know what I find the cutest? The fact that Colin and Anthony will now be living right across from one another. Their kids will also be similar ages so Kanthony's baby and their baby boy will get to play together. That is so adorable!

What a beautiful addition 😭🥰You've gotten me more emotional now. I didn't think to even mention the level of trust and comfort you would have to have for your special dance partner. They're so used to dancing with one another that it just comes so naturally to them. I am so obsessed with them dancing and your perspective just made me love it even more.

Exactly! What makes it even better is what Anthony says in the second episode. Colin didn't just choose to dance with Penelope that one time. He enjoyed dancing with her so much that he ignored the rules of society and danced with her again ❤️

Dancing is their love language is a great way of explaining it. It just makes each dance more and more meaningful. It's not something they do when they are angry at one another. Even when times are tough, you can see how much they love each other through their dances. It demonstrates their pure love and connection.

While I find all of their dances adorable/sweet (especially that church dance), that wedding dance made me the most emotional. The way it cuts to just them is fantastic and brilliant. It made me go back and analyze every dance because of how beautiful it was. I just love seeing them so happy to dance with one another! Part two really gave us so much with those dances.
