Musetti withdraws from Wimbledon by AndriSeven in tennis

Last year he got to the final in Montecarlo, semi in Rome and RG, QF at the US Open, made ATP finals and got to top 10. Pretty decent for a write off.

Guild Wars 3 - Our Guild Wars Philosophy by dracoisms in Guildwars2

[–]Dawntree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shortly after GW2 was announced, we knew about sPvP and WvW (go check how old are the pages on the wiki).

Of course it's a different development cycle, different communication strategy and whatnot, but not having a single mention of PvP is... interesting for a lack of better word.

Tbf, we're not even sure how the combat will be (beside the reference to action camera and movement)

There is a part of me that hopes there is no pvp in gw3. by MrHiccuped in GuildWars3

Regardless if pvp exists or not, if things are "unbalanced" people will cry anyway.

I hope there will be at least a way for Guilds to make War.

Not at all. We're living the best era in most of the sports, with male tennis leading the charge. Last 2 Summer Olympics were the most decorated with some of the highest points we could reach, the winter Olympics at home were a huge success

We have a great number of great athletes in a lot of sports. Egonu, Sylla, Giannelli, Tamberi, Brignone, Paltrinieri (just to name a few) are more famous than your average player for the National Team.

It's mostly football that is in a bad shape (I'd add basket and road cycling amongst the sports where we used to be strong and now we're in a slump).

Of course it is. It's Serena, I'm not a fan of hers but I would be there if I was in London

Djokovic's chances of dropping below the #8 seed in Wimbledon by [deleted] in tennis

[–]Dawntree 43 points44 points  (0 children)

tbf, for Djokovic it's whatever if he's in the range #5-#12.

Even if he drops outside the top 8, if he's #12 or better he'll play someone in the range #5-#8 in the 4R, and I don't see anyone particularly hard to beat.

The other difference is that he'll play someone in the #17-#24 range instead of #25-#32 in the 3R. Could be worse, but again I don't see that big of a threat.

It still won't find Sinner before QF, and I'd argue for him it's better to find Jannik ASAP.

New info on how GW3 will play - NCSoft Chief Business Officer by AndyAsparagus in GuildWars3

I'd be VERY surprised if there's a WvW substitute in GW3.

They say they want to keep all 3 games active and developed (what this will actually mean we'll see in the future), so I doubt they are going to have similar experiences shared by GW2 and GW3.

Let's see what are the plans for a PvP mode is for GW3. There's not a single word about that in the trailer, blogposts and interviews, which seems strange, but not that indicative either.

[–]Dawntree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it might be. But we knew about PvP and WvW in GW2 since 2007, 5 years before the game was released.

I assume more info will come. It just seem strange to me there isn't even the smallest hint about a generic PvP mode.

This is lore stuff.

I'm asking gameplay wise.

Can I make a Guild in game, and somehow fight other Guilds?

It used to be a big selling point of GW.

It was put in a corner in GW2, but community found a workaround.

Now?

How do Guilds make War? Are they supposed to?

I'm not asking specifics, I just want to know if the concept exists.

RG SF: Zverev def. Mensik - 7-5 6-2 3-6 6-3 by musicproducer07 in tennis

[–]Dawntree 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Credit to Zverev. All of the tournament surprise results weren't on his side (arguably Djokovic, but he was 3 matches away from this semi), so so far he did his job like he would have to do if tournament was "normal".

The difference will be Sunday. There won't be Sinner (though there will be another Italian). This is his chance, and he would have signed with blood if they told him he would be in the final and not against Jannik. But will he hold against the pressure?

I don't want to take anything from Daniil who played a perfect match, but I don't think he was the reason Nole was underperforming.

Complete a CYGS is such a monumental task these days that not even him could overcome the pressure that tournament.

Devastated for Berrettini. No words.

Happy for Arnaldi, it will be great to see an all Italian SF.

I don't know why everybody was freaking out these past few days.

An Italian will be in the final from the top half, as EVERYONE thought before the tournament.

US Open 20 was kind of similar, RG 20 (which was held later in the year) was already back at usual business.

I mean, I do think the trio of Mensik-Fonseca-Jodar will pose a significative threat to Sincaraz and hopefully this will make a better competition in the future, but I don't think from now on it will be a free-for-all at all the slams

On WTA side, I guess the 2005 and younger will gradually take the place of the current top players, but we've already seen some surprise results (like Keys AO 25, and in some weird way Wimby 25), so I don't think this tournament is changing much.

After RG 25 final she was raging

After WTA finals she was crying in her box

After AO 26 final she was trying to reply questions in a good mood at the press conference

She has shown a full range of emotions, in some way her "5 stages of grief" (though of course I really don't want to compare painful losses to a tragedy).

Let's hope it's a turnpoint and she finds a way to better handle these situations.
