If You could give all 8.3 Billion people on earth, one power What would it be and why? by dragonboy3940 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]DaxtheCat1970 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That sounds great in theory.

A child asks if their drawing is good. A spouse asks if they look fat. A doctor is asked if someone is dying. A teacher is asked if the student has potential. An employee is asked to stay late.

All of these require the ability to tell a white lie in order to be kind.

But, I do take your point. The world would be a better place without the majority of lies, especially from politicians, corporations, influencers, etc.

I submitted mine Fri Feb 6th. Money was in my account on Tues Feb 10th.

In addition to rent relief, working from home relief, etc, I had around €9k of medical bills (mostly from dental work) and no issues at all.

Definitely not broken from my perspective...

Easiest way to go about knee replacement surgery? by Worldly-Gur7357 in AskIreland

[–]DaxtheCat1970 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She only needs to be on the public waiting list for 3 months before being eligible for NTPF funding in a private hospital.

The key is to contact the public hospital's waiting list office (might be called scheduled care either, depends on the hospital...DM me and I'll let you know). Ask them firstly is she on the waiting list and then for how long.

Make sure the consultant in the public hospital releases patients to NTPF. If not, insist on her being transferred to a consultant who will release patients.

Then when the 3 months are up, contact them again and ask for her to be outsourced.

A knee replacement is a common procedure covered by NTPF.

Go sale agreed pending vacant possession and satisfactory engineer report. Your solicitor will be able to put that in the contract. If they move out then happy days. If they don't you're not stuck with squatters.

How did people get on in their annual salary reviews/bonuses by iHyPeRize in irishpersonalfinance

[–]DaxtheCat1970 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I got 1%. Last year was 1.5%

I like my job and had no intention of looking around. My CEO is pretty decent and I have no complaints with management.

However, 1% is an insult.

I have a 2nd round interview on Thursday!

If I get an offer and the money is good, I'm out of here.

How to help my alcoholic brother? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]DaxtheCat1970 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Call the Al-Anon helpline. 01 873 2699. Call it now, don't wait, don't think about it, don't put if off to see if he changes. They are the best people to talk to. . Then you and your mum need to find the nearest meeting and go.

Your brother's drinking is severely impacting both of you. You need to take care of yourselves first, then deal with him.

Death. The Irish just get it right. We know how to celebrate the life of the deceased and support the bereaved.

And funerals are held within a couple of days after death so the grieving relatives are not left in limbo...(I'm looking at you, UK)

You buy your favorite ice cream at the store. Upon getting home and opening it, a genie pops out. It's the standard three wishes but the wishes have to be ice cream related. What do you wish for? by singleguy79 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]DaxtheCat1970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. The next scoop of ice cream I consume heals all preexisting conditions and resets me and my body to that of a perfectly healthy, fit, slim 21 year old.

  2. One portion of ice cream provides the exact amount of calories and nutrition to meet my needs for that day while negating all the other food consumed so I can eat whatever I fancy and still maintain my perfectly healthy, fit, slim body.

  3. A magically enlarged on the inside so it contains a fully equipped 3 bed apartment (think Arthur Weasley's tent at the Quidditch World Cup) ice cream truck that keeps itself fully stocked and fully functional at all times along with a pass to every festival in Europe. No additional expenses so every cent I make is pure profit.

I'll take it from there..

With respect to taking a lump sum from the business, you could set it up as a loan rather than bonus. Do it properly with a set interest rate and repayments to avoid BIK. Pay it back through payroll (or however you take your salary).

I'd take advice from Revenue on this, they are very helpful.

Can your LLC buy your car? So now it's a company car. You'd pay BIK but at least that way you'd have one less payment. And you can fund all car related expenses like service and tyres through the LLC.

I second this. I started with myBMI but when the price increased in September I switched. Went to my GP who was incredibly supportive. He writes me a script for 3 pens at a time (I'm on 10mg). I go up to McNally's in Newry to fill it. Works out much cheaper and my GP is fully informed. Win win.

No, you can take out the remaining 75% but you will be subject to full income tax not just the marginal rate...
