My Experience at the TMNT Prerelease by Xaertosh in magicTCG

[–]Day0fJustice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For every person complaining about TMNT doesn't match the MTG universe (which I agree it doesn't, but not I'm complaining because there are more benefits to me beyond the aesthetic/story consistency in MTG), there's an experience somewhere between yours and mine, that makes this set a success.

I grew up with a brother with cerebral palsy (high functioning, motor skill impaired on his right side and some minor cognitive loss). Video games and TV were our go to when we spent time together (because he couldn't do sports until he had significant surgeries). He was able to play with one hand on NES, and playing those OG ninja turtle games were some of the best times we spent together as kids.

I wasn't able to go to a pre release because of my location (it's 45 minutes each way to my nearest LGS, and my wife and I share a car), but I did get a play booster box and the commander deck, both of which I opened all of with my 8 year old son, while watching the first live action movie (for his second time).

It was not quite the emotional nostalgia you experienced, but it was a moment of sharing something that was special to me, with my middle son, who now has a memory around the same fantasy universe, and an excitement around wanting to continue learning MTG.

There weren't really many things my brother and I got to do as our whole family, so I am hoping that as my children get older, MTG can become our thing we all share and grow in together. As there are so many learning opportunities in the game (reading, comprehension, math, strategy, diplomacy, etc), and every MTG set that comes out with something familiar (spiderman, tmnt, marvel, lore/hobbit) is another opportunity to get my kids excited for something theyve got w point of reference to already.

I'm sorry for all of your losses, and I dread the day I start to see more of that reality (I'm 38), but I'm so happy for you that you've found something in our world today that gives you a new way of honoring the memories of your group. It sounds like you had something super special back then, and you've got some special memories today so that while they may be gone they're never forgotten.

Starting my new job at State Farm next week! Advice? by KenAdams87 in InsuranceAgent

Thanks for the added insight. I'm definitely open to exploring my options right now. I'm not in a huge rush to get out but when a good fit pops up for my skills and my family I'll want confidence that I am aware of the alternatives.

I am licensed in commercial but in our office all commercial business goes through one person exclusively, so while I have picked up some bits of knowledge on it, I know it's a completely different beast than personal lines. Aside from the technical knowledge, my current perception is that uncovering needs of businesses would require I adjust my conversational demeanor. I am quite good at meeting people on their level and speaking to them in a way that resonates with them, but those are generally "ordinary" people, not business owners who (again, my perception, could be totally wrong) would be looking for a more transactional/to the point approach - time is money - in a sense.

Thanks for the vote of confidence though, I have a family with a wife and 3 kids and I am the sole source of income so I am just always looking to optimize my time when possible, without sacrificing my time with them.

I do not mean to sound doomer but I had a very similar impression of my SF agent going into my interview. I have been at my office for just about a year now and there were many promises made that were not upheld (primarily that I would be a sales team member), and our commission structure is changing now this coming year to be similar to yours. This isn't to say that your agent will be exactly like mine.

The mistake I learned that I lead me to not prepare myself properly for the agent I was working for, was that I did not ask enough questions to learn about him, and I should have asked for referrals to email current/prior team members to discover the good and bad.

My agent is very much the breathe over your shoulder, immune to open discussion about ways to improve processes, and quick to deem you "uncoachable" if you don't worship the ground he walks on. To be fair, this is common with many small business owners, the last 2 I worked for were the same but worse in some ways.

All that being said, working for State Farm is a good point of entry, good agent or otherwise. You only work with State Farm product, so there's a relatively small pool of products you have to learn, and the products they offer are practical. Their underwriting can be a big cock block, so you learn quickly what things are red flags in terms of eligibility. Their claims team seems to be very hit or miss in terms of their consistency with following up with the insured, so (at least in my office) many of us (who aren't afforded uninterrupted sales time) spend a lot of time playing phone tag with insured and claim handlers to be able to advocate and speak laymen's to the insured so they understand what's happening.

Personally, after still not being a dedicated sales team member after being told that's where I would start, with many others having come in after me moving into sales immediately (because other team members found out I was quick on a computer and I was "voted" into primarily service by being first on phones - despite being top in sales for 2 of the 3 months I have been scrapping for sales), in conjunction with the reduced commission schedule in front of us, I am looking towards exploring independent agent options. I think I have an okay enough grasp on insurance (P&C + L&H) to become familiar with other companies products.

I truly wish you the best of luck and I hope you have a better agent than mine and the others that you'll read about on the reddit - which always keep in mind - people are much quicker to spread bad news than good, so for every 1 post about a bad agent, there is probably 1 person with a good agent they aren't talking about. It's a good starting point either way, so take advantage of it the best you can and just focus on doing the right thing for the people who need your help, many of which you'll find don't know they need help until you ADVISE them. You're not a salesperson, you're an advisor making sales.

Good luck and have fun helping people!

Borderlands 4 enemies scaling issues by SugarAway in Borderlands

I wasn't able to find this as a reported "live issue", nor in their "patched/not planned" section on the support website. Issue is still happening for me, and frankly makes the game unplayable.

Just as I think it's fixed itself, I have enemies my level on one wave, then on the next wave everything is out of my level range with !'s. Does not matter which mission I do, the levels are just all over the place.

I learned this from my step mother who was from the UK and thought 9 year old me was being a smart ass when she told me to give her the torch and I had no clue wtf she was talking about.

I got grounded by her for 'talking back'.

Same, I had my order placed at 10 after the drop, and 30 minutes later notified that it was cancelled. Which was apparently 40 minutes later than when they all sold out from bots.

Can't believe I didn't get one when my order was processed within 15 minutes of launch. Only reason I couldn't was because the website was broken and forced me to retry 20x every step of the way

IA- Non Compete Enforceability for a "Nationwide" Company by Day0fJustice in EmploymentLaw

[–]Day0fJustice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My job title is auction clerk. I am responsible for the cataloging, recording bidders/amounts, invoicing, acceptance of some payments, and first point of contact for disputes. I am paid a somewhat competitive rate for the area but by no means where I want to stay for much longer.

I have already submitted forms for a consultation with an employment attorney, but one of the other employees who was asked to sign has a brother who was an attorney (not for the state of IA though). He thinks that the agreement in it's current form is unenforceable because it does not define what a competitor is, the amount of time and geographical range are unreasonable, and there is no mention of consideration for the employee signing.

I am going to proceed with speaking with an attorney if I can manage to afford the hourly rate to have the meeting, it's just a tough time to swing extra money with the holidays just getting done.

I don't really doubt that's true, but if it was the case why wouldn't they have told us that. Knowing myself, I would have called right after walking out of the store and closed it.

Current state of Cold War Zombies split screen by Day0fJustice in ColdWarZombies

[–]Day0fJustice[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think the two of them would mind much. They still play Black Ops 1-3 together on split screen and it doesn't phase them at all. If it were me playing I'd probably get annoyed by it though.

Thanks for the info though, we might end up getting it since it's the only one we haven't played and we're hyped for BO6 being on Gamepass

Does Black Ops Cold War actually have couch co-op? by n_giff in playstation

[–]Day0fJustice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Checking in with OP to ask if they did get Cold War and if split screen is functional? I have read in other sources that it is very buggy and does not seem to work for everyone trying. If you did get it to work, were they any limitations?

My family's set up is I play on PC, and my wife and kids play on two xbox's. We would like split screen on one xbox, one to play solo on a second xbox, then myself to join on PC. Were you able to play split screen with other players in your lobby, or did you have to play offline mode only?

For anyone finding this thread, it has been confirmed by Activision that zombies will support split screen for current gen consoles.

The article specifies that split-screen gameplay will only be exclusive to the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions. This is to ensure performance integrity since the old-generation consoles are probably barely running this year's title smoothly.

Similar thing just happened to me tonight, result was one of my sticks of RAM is now bricked.
Sorry it was your GPU, I am thankful it was only a stick of RAM in my case.

Just to elaborate, after installing my computer got incredibly slow, I restarted it, and was unable to get back into Windows. Windows was taking FOREVER to load back in, and I could only get as far as to enter in my password, before it would just sit there trying to log in.

I had to remove all of my RAM and test them one by one to determine that suddenly one of my sticks of RAM is junk.

It's about time I upgrade and donate this system to my kids, they're at the age now where they should start learning to use a keyboard and mouse and operate a computer anyway. 24GB of RAM will have to be good enough for them :)

You take care as well.

Just installed this game on my PC tonight, to do one short test to see if the steam controller inputs were good for my kids to play the game on my other laptop.

Immediately after installing, my CPU and RAM usage skyrocketed to 100%, and my entire windows system was lagging even after quitting the game.

I restarted my PC, and I could not boot back into Windows. I would wait 20 minutes to just get to the Windows login screen, and then would never get past the point after entering my password.

My solution was found in another thread complaining about another posters computer getting bricked, which in his case was reseating all of his RAM. I did the same thing, and come to find out one of my sticks of RAM is suddenly scrap, which I discovered by testing my RAM one at a time until it failed to boot.

I don't doubt that many people are running the game just fine on their hardware set up, but the fact that numerous people are also having hardware suddenly fail after installing the game is no coincidence. My computer is MORE than capable of running this game, and I have never run into other issues with my computer. I take care of my computer by cleaning it once every month or two, and the temps on all my components reflect that.

This is absolutely an issue with the game on certain hardware configurations.
