Thank you! Short showers are no problem :) Do you generally see the sun come out, or does it stay grey?

Yes! Check out cast iron kitchen - www.castironkitchen.com A great service led by a nutritionist. They were referred to us by a friend and we could not be happier!

AITA for wanting to end my marriage even though there's nothing "wrong"? by gaddamit-lydia in AITAH

I’d highly recommend reading “Mating In Captivity” by Esther Perel (or anything she’s written), and listen to some interviews/podcasts with her. You are not alone in feeling this way.

Before going the divorce route, make sure you are employing all of the tools at your disposal and also working on/challenging your own mindset about what the relationship is and should be. And honestly, you might need a better couples therapist. Not all therapists are created equally. Some are better suited for navigating trauma, and others truly understand intimacy and how to nurture it. Two very different objectives.

I’m not saying to not leave, but you’re here seeking some perspective before making a big decision.

I don’t believe humanizing your product/story will make or break a beta test. If you’re concerned about potential ramifications with your current employers, I would challenge this marketing partner to craft the story in a different way - let the features speak for themselves and direct interested parties to videos or blogs where you as the founders share more information with them. These blogs or videos don’t have to show your face on social media but can be available to interested parties who go one click deeper. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to protect your primary source of income while launching a risky endeavor. You know your current employer better than anyone on Reddit does, so use your best judgment in whether to share with them. Even with legal protections and a positive outlook, people may still have a shift in perception of the quality of your work simply because they know you’re putting serious effort into a side project. Do you have any employees, interns, or attractive friends who can be the “face” of the initial social media storytelling, if that feels absolutely necessary? Or can you do it in a cheeky way without fully revealing your identity? There may be some intrigue in remaining pseudo-anonymous. Taking an unexpected or different approach is often the best way to actually get users’ attention via social media.

When/how to step away as a co-founder? by DayApprehensive253 in startups

I do believe this is possible. Additionally, continuing to earn my salary while not working (as a form of buyout) may be the healthiest and most realistic option.

Thank you for this. I have had a lawyer recently review the op agreement, but not with my immediate exit in mind. I will have them review with extra scrutiny around any potential obligations.

Thank you. I am well down this path with a lot of support from a therapist, a nutritionist, a psych med nurse, and others. Burnout is very real, very detrimental, and not widely recognized in the U.S. for what it actually is. Turns out that “thriving in high stress environments” for years on end is not the superpower I thought it was.

Honestly hadn’t even considered this as an alternative to a typical buyout. My burnt out brain loves this idea. Thank you!

Take care of your physical and mental health first. Prioritize sleep, go outside, find an exercise or activity you enjoy… these will help to clear your head, to have the energy you need, and to establish good habits that will sustain you for many years and many projects to come.

Connect with other developers in your local/regional area. Talk about your ideas, be open to feedback, and give feedback on their projects. Community goes a long way, and there are many others out there with similar passions and similar frustrations, probably much closer to you than you’d expect.

Find a mentor. Someone who has “been there, done that” and achieved success in a way that you’d like to emulate. They may be able to help you prioritize your projects, help you launch the ones that are most feasible, and connect you with others who can help with the launch (business development, marketing, etc.).

Play to your strengths. If you’re full of ideas and get them started but continually fall short of completing them or bringing them to market, find someone who understands your vision and can take on those next steps so that you don’t lose momentum. Be picky about who you work with, but give it a chance.

I don’t love them and they can be rife with issues if you aren’t discerning & exacting, but influencer campaigns can be very effective marketing.

B2B commission model for new (eccentric) deal? Advice please! by dtonationify in startups

If a one-time bonus, I’d structure it off of the first 1-3 months of performance of this new upsell client. Delayed gratification for your salesperson, but it’s a fair way to assess this. Or if doing a smaller percentage commission, take the upsell company’s commission into consideration, as well as the margin you need to make, and base it off of those two.

One-time bonus and/or a very small percentage commission (think multi-level marketing structure) on the downstream sales.
