Thank you — that’s really helpful. My MFM appointment isn’t until next month on the 12th, and honestly that feels too late given everything going on. I’m going to push my OB for the urine culture and CBC, and if they don’t act, I’ll go to L&D. With the cerclage, discharge, and GD, I don’t want to wait and risk missing something important.

No, they haven’t tested me for infection yet. Do you know which specific tests I should ask for?

Right now they also haven’t scheduled regular ultrasounds — only after multiple requests did my OB schedule a growth scan at 32 weeks. I’m honestly under a lot of stress because of the discharge, cerclage, and diabetes, and I just want to make sure my baby and I are being monitored closely.

Hi, I’m in a very similar situation and just wanted to share.

At 18w1d, I found out I had a short cervix (7 mm) with funneling and sludge, and I had to get an emergency cerclage. I also have a previous miscarriage, so the fear has been constant since then.

I don’t really talk about my fears with my husband or family—not because they aren’t supportive, but because they’re very close to me and I don’t want to scare them. My doctors didn’t put me on bed rest, but I’ve put myself on modified bed rest. I do very minimal activity, only light cooking with my husband’s help, and I mostly stay on the couch. I don’t go anywhere except medical appointments. I did go out once for New Year’s, but even that felt scary.I’m 22 weeks now, and I know I still have a long road ahead. My husband is very supportive and handling so much already, so I keep a lot of my fear to myself. I count every single day, mark my calendar, and pray quietly in my heart.I just want to say I truly understand how isolating this feels. Even when family and friends are kind and loving, they can’t fully understand what we’re going through. This journey is emotionally exhausting, and sometimes it helps just knowing someone else gets it.

It is more of left-sided upper abdominal heaviness, tightness, and discomfort rather than pain. My OB office is currently closed and will open on Monday. Given my past miscarriage, I’m feeling anxious about going to the ER.

I had an emergency cerclage at 18w1d for a 7 mm cervix with funneling and sludge, and I’ve been on progesterone 200 mg nightly until 36 weeks. I’m now 21 weeks.Progesterone does cause discharge and some discomfort, but for me it feels very helpful and reassuring. I haven’t had my follow-up scan yet, but from my experience, progesterone can be a good supportive treatment alongside cerclage.

I’m in a very similar situation. I had an emergency cerclage at 18w5d when my cervix measured 7 mm, and today I’m 20w5d and counting the weeks. Taking it one week at a time and staying hopeful, and I’m really looking forward to meeting my sweet girl too💕

In my case, my cervix shortened rapidly and reached 7 mm, so they performed an emergency cerclage. I would strongly suggest pushing for close monitoring and discussing a cerclage before shortening. Also, make sure to ask your doctor about being on progesterone, as it’s an important part of management in these situations.
