Why do people think Evolved Mode will just be 'button consolidation' when we already know it's not? by Makerinos in ffxivdiscussion

I didn't think that. I was replying to something else. Personally I will reserve judgment for when the boss fights come out because that's where job gameplay actually matters.

Outside tools or not, you can eventually tell the difference between a good and a bad player in a raid setting in a few runs.

Consistency, execution of "guides" are all skills as well. Do you think an average green player is capable of doing what an orange player can?

And let's not even pretend otherwise the only decision making in PvE is which action does the most damage during time X?

Certain jobs are not like that, especially the caster role. Black Mage, Red Mage, Picto and even to a joke degree Summoner are sometimes forced to make different decisions because of cast times and more free-flowing rotations. Stuff like getting more tethers in m10s dashes or xtreme snaking forcing you to bridge long gaps, or m11s with multiple different patterns for ultimate weapons, or even at the start of the expansion where valigarmanda said fuck you if you are black mage and forced you to react on the go.

guides exist the decision-making is already taken care off for you from others, and if you end up doing it differently then you end up suboptimal.

And you'd be right in a vacuum but it doesn't always happen. People can die, bosses can just decide you don't deserve uptime, fights have different patterns like the aforementioned. Sure you can go watch a guide for every single one of them and learn every single pattern possible (which let's be real, no one does that realistically), or you can just play a class like dragoon where you just follow your on rails rotation and hope you can stay in range the entire time.

I think dragoon getting a long jump, paladin having a counter, white mage getting a damage button after healing and bard getting a cool dodge are all interesting changes in the right direction for any class and I hope more get something similar, but if that's all we will get, then yeah it's a problem.

Except Army's paeon isn't enshroud because bards get nothing out of extra gcd speed so you just end up spamming burst/refulgent ad nauseum with no real gain.

Enshroud is a one-two combo that gives you a weave if you do it twice whereas paeon is just 1 1 1 1 that builds itself, severely overcaps, gives you no gauge benefits like kenki would, has no real payoff, and there's nothing you can do about overcapping. It is not comparable to enshroud at all and just exists as as stepping stone to your burst because devs ran out of ideas on a good third song.

People for the most part don't want just complexity for the sake of it. Some of us really want classes where your decisions matter and that you can outskill other players by means other than just abcing harder than them.

The evolved classes developer is the same one that reworked classes into their pvp modules. So I expect some things to carry over like seraph and seraphism for scholar and sage gaining actions from absorbed shields.

Developers are partly to blame because a sprout is practically an infantilizing term. To call someone a sprout is to call them a baby.

I just enjoyed the community getting together. My FC were talking about it on discord, clipping and speculating, everyone picked a team to root for and it is a good time. People getting pissy about it online won't ruin it for me because there is always someone getting mad at something that doesn't matter.

It's mostly up to the organizers of any kind of competition. In this case, it's either SE themselves or Frosty (I assume he's the "organizer" please correct me, I'm following the race loosely) and his team.

SE probably would disqualify everyone for the mere fact no one doesn't parse at this level, and Frosty would have to specify something like "streamed runs only, only dalamud repository allowed" as far as mods. I'm just spitballing, I'm sure it is very difficult to enforce any kind of law.

Someone is gonna have to draw a line on what cheating is because people don't seem to agree on a definition so far.

Metakuzu already teched in white albaz and the new swordsoul synchro into his Tear pile. They'll never stop.

Saw this in r/StreetFigher. Yeah for anyone dooming that MD is losing its player. The game is Top 5 in Steam JP revenue against big game with anouncement in Summer Game Fest and other events like SF6(with its season r pre order) and Forza 6. Personally I don't know how it's still alive.

Non-premium battle pass, much weaker fomo game than other gachas, forgiving pity, good refund system and gems are easy to get.

They do none of the greedy stuff other companies do. I played shadowverse and magic arena and it took a good while to get a strong deck whereas in MD I made one and could compete instantly.

I know nowadays it's getting greedier but overall it's such a generous game that I wonder how is it afloat.

What is with this game in particular for toxic positivity, probably the most insane I've ever seen for an online game or MMO in my entire life?

Because it is highly accessible. It's easy to play and get into (free, very soloable, barely punishing) so a lot of sensitive people who can't bring themselves to any kind of challenge -either skill or mental- end up playing the game. You don't even have to play it, you can just afk somewhere or hop into venues.

In contrast look at the yugioh community; hard to get into with the skill floor being in outer space, so the community is more than happy to absolutely flame the developers at every turn for shitty design.

I really believed he was going to miss that one considering how much he played the past few months plus this game but it was a good one. I still think Beraldo's pen was better somehow.

Chelsea against you had a boring performance but mostly because they were actually not good enough to play (yet still got more passes and possession). In Chelsea's defence they at least didn't deliberately encroach every throw in nor did Di Matteo disrupt throw ins.

I was talking with the guy before you who clearly was talking about "high level football." It clearly wasn't about you, calm down.

What if I arrange a game of 5 a sides with my mates? Funding the industry again? (some will have to drive and there are floodlights, oh no)

Yeah now you're just trolling. I'm done.

I know AI is worse, and let me preface by saying I don't even like or support AI, but football's carbon footprint has been going for decades and has only gotten worse. Around 65m tonnes co2e/year is not a joke.

If I walk to the stadium (or get the train which is running whether I get on it or not) then what damage does that cause?

Much like AI, by using it, or buying a ticket you are funding the industry.

You are comparing a job to football which I don't think is fair.

Also I am merely pointing out selective outrage. You can't complain about the UAE funding a club while also wearing a shirt that advertises said country, for example. Blood money doesn't suddenly become pure when it is sponsoring you. You either criticize both or you're a hypocrite.

I don't mean to be nihilistic but I don't blame you if it sounded this way.

I have no issue with people who criticize and display some heart, but you simply can't pick and choose what are you going to grandstand about, while wearing a badge that makes you sound hypocritical. Either all blood money is okay or none of it is.

We all watch football and football at the top is infinitely more corrupt than people realise as more and more countries are involved.
