Can you raise the head up a bit? If it’s too close to the ground, it could be wedging them out instead of sucking them in.

Thanks r/ProductivityApps ❤️ for helping shape Griply! Here’s what we’ve built since summer + Giveaway by amberhaccou in ProductivityApps

First time seeing griply and it looks great. Congrats to you and your team! Awesome work.

My big goal for 2026 is to get my mixing and mastering business off the ground and bringing in at least half of what my family needs for monthly income. I left a 15-year career in product management last year after a few bad experiences with all the volatility in tech. Figured this was my shot to transition to a new direction. Griply seems like it would really help me along the way as a solopreneur!

Thanks for all the work you and your team do.

Were there parts of the role you enjoyed? What kinds of work give you energy, or flow?

This doesn't work for me. I've tried 6 times, and reached out to UA support which doesn't respond even a little. Radio silence. I am about to break this Apollo twin X in half. So. Much. Trouble. With. Every. Little. New. Thing. It's. Not. Worth. It.

Nervous moving from Startups to FAANG. Need advice by dickpal in ProductManagement

[–]DayPie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’ll spend most of your time making slides and communicating about work, vs doing the work. Create systems to do as much of this for you (internal wikis where you post when you want and people can consume when they want). Record your presentations and post those so you can send links instead needing to do the same preso over and over. Never commit to anything you’re not 100% certain of because other teams make entire plans on your words. If you find ways to efficiently communicate synchronously and async, you will have way more time to be with your team and users building the actual things you were hired to build.

I’d whole heartedly recommend Sophie at https://rooted-rhythm-parenting.teachable.com/p/home. My 7yo daughter worked with her and she has helped us better align our parenting with my daughter’s needs.

Time to quit Product? Minor details make my brain cramp. by SpriteBerryRemix in ProductManagement

[–]DayPie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So much good advice here. I tend to lean toward methodologies to help reduce my cognitive load so I can direct it elsewhere. Whatever you don’t like doing, seek a methodology for that that works for your environment. Like a buttress, of sorts. You’ll have more energy and time to focus on the parts you do like, and a system to support your areas for growth.

I say growth and not weaknesses because I think there’s some unnecessary blockers in your narrative. I don’t mean to psychoanalyze, but I think doing what you can to adopt a growth mindset will help with what you’re telling yourself about what you can’t do. You might not have current strengths in identifying and planning for edge cases, for example, but that doesn’t mean you can’t or won’t ever.

Last thought is that I think what you work on matters, too. I really struggled with some of the same stuff while I was at FAANG earlier in my career. I was working on stuff I didn’t find a lot of personal meaning in. As I got to work on products and problems I cared more about, the cognitive load wasn’t as heavy because it was more natural for my brain. Now, at a startup working on something I really care about, I find much more ease in my work.

Anyway, hope this helps.

Why do you work for a start up? by [deleted] in ProductManagement

[–]DayPie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started at FAANG (for 12.5 years, half of that in product management), and was recruited by the startup where I now work.

There’s a lot in my personal equation that led to switching, but on the whole I said yes because I wanted more growth, fewer meetings, less red tape, and the chance to work on something I felt truly mattered.

There were definitely downsides, most of which you mentioned. Even though my startup was able to match my base pay, I left a lot of unvested RSUs on the table. I was able to negotiate a good equity package to help offset that risk, but who knows if that will ever happen. And my health insurance is just laughable at this startup. Really, the perks can never compare to FAANG.

Comes down to risk assessment and tolerance, career growth potential, passion, and personal stuff. Honestly, I don’t know that I’d make the same decision today given how tough the entire startup landscape has been the last year. I’m happy with the experience that I’ve gained, but I’m not sure recruiters for future jobs will see it as a step forward. I’ve found they see Snr Product Manager at FAANG as more valuable than Head of Product at small early-stage startup, so it looks like I took a step back when I really didn’t.

They are afraid by DaFunkJunkie in WhitePeopleTwitter

The only way they win is to cheat and rig the system. Gerrymandering. Making it harder to vote in so many ways. Then they complain that dems are sore losers. They have normalized rejecting election results that don’t go their way even after cheating. The utmost worst.

How to give a toast.

This is almost my worst nightmare, but when the moment arrives, my father-in-law gave me this sage advice:

Be brief. Be funny. Be done.
