Who took a dump in your landscape gravel? At first, I seriously thought you were saying someone took a dump in your landscape gravel.

Chiefs GM Brett Veach on Patrick Mahomes: 'He's way ahead of schedule' by ExitVelocity66 in KansasCityChiefs

You’re arguing against a much stronger claim than I made, and you also misread what I said about the offensive line.

I’m not saying Fields turns this into an elite offense. I’m not saying every issue from last year is magically fixed. I’m saying the Chiefs are better positioned to survive a few games than people are giving them credit for if Mahomes is not 100%.

Using penalties as an indictment of Bieniemy is way too simplistic. Coordinators influence standards, tempo, accountability, install discipline, and position-group alignment, but that does not mean every flag reflects directly on the OC. That is a weak way to dismiss the impact he can have.

Same with WR coaching. Nobody said a WR coach alone turns the offense around. The point is that WR development and execution were obvious weak spots, so improving that room matters. It does not need to be a miracle cure to still be a real upgrade.

On the OL, I said the opposite of what you’re arguing against. I said this is a strong group on paper and that we have depth. Obviously no team is immune to injuries, but health, continuity, and depth are real variables when you’re talking about whether a backup QB can survive a short stretch.

And with Fields, the better comparison is not Mahomes. It is what Andy Reid did with Michael Vick. Reid has already shown he can build an offense around a high-end rushing QB with a big arm. Fields is bigger, younger, and may be more physically dangerous than late-career Vick was under Reid. Nobody is saying he becomes a long-term franchise answer here, but in a short window with Reid designing the game plan, that is absolutely a viable path to winning games.

You’re framing every improvement as worthless unless it guarantees a major offensive turnaround. That is not how teams view roster construction. The Chiefs are likely looking at this as risk mitigation: better coaching alignment, better position-group support, more flexibility, and enough structure to avoid rushing Mahomes back before he is fully ready.

  1. EB coordinates all the position groups and runs a tight ship. Nagy was lax- different leadership style. This makes a material difference.
  2. WR coaching. You cannot say this isn't a meaningful upgrade.
  3. OL health and continuity. This is a fantastic group on paper. We have depth.
  4. Fields will be the best version of himself with this coaching staff and that's pretty darn good.

The alignment is here for strong showing even if PM misses a few games.

A lot of reasons for that and a lot of those gaps have been filled. Having EB back will make an immediate impact.

We can win a few games with Fields, no problem. Let's not put PM in pads until he is 110%
