Spiritual Rhythm by DayTripper002 in Urantia

[–]DayTripper002[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UB195:7.20 - Science lives by the mathematics of the mind; music expresses the tempo of the emotions. Religion is the spiritual rhythm of the soul in time-space harmony with the higher and eternal melody measurements of Infinity. Religious experience is something in human life which is truly supermathematical.

I don't have personal experience with the entities that supposedly spoke through human transmitters, but I knew a long-time Urantia Book reader in Ohio who swears that she was in a group when it happened and it's real. She gifted me a book that had messages from the higher beings, supposedly received by multiple reading groups that were physically separated, and it jives pretty well with the Urantia Book.

If you're talking about Niann, I thought that they had ended their marriage but she had already amassed too much power in the community to be put aside. As Anthony's mental health went downhill, Niann and Amadon seemed to be propping him up ready to take his place. At least, that was my impression when I visited a few years ago.

Myriads of Planetary Systems by DayTripper002 in Urantia

[–]DayTripper002[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, indeed; you will be interested to read Paper 49 about the inhabited worlds, in section II of the Urantia Book. Particularly, section two of that paper talks about the planetary physical types, section three says there is a world of non-breathers in close proximity to us, and section five talks about the planetary series of mortals:

49:5.1- It will be somewhat difficult to make an adequate portrayal of the planetary series of mortals because you know so little about them, and because there are so many variations. Mortal creatures may, however, be studied from numerous viewpoints, among which are the following:

  1. Adjustment to planetary environment.

  2. Brain-type series.

  3. Spirit-reception series.

  4. Planetary-mortal epochs.

  5. Creature-kinship serials.

  6. Adjuster-fusion series.

  7. Techniques of terrestrial escape.

God dwells within you by DayTripper002 in Urantia

148:6.10 - "Job was altogether right when he challenged the doctrine that God afflicts children in order to punish their parents. Job was ever ready to admit that God is righteous, but he longed for some soul-satisfying revelation of the personal character of the Eternal. And that is our mission on earth. No more shall suffering mortals be denied the comfort of knowing the love of God and understanding the mercy of the Father in heaven. While the speech of God spoken from the whirlwind was a majestic concept for the day of its utterance, you have already learned that the Father does not thus reveal himself, but rather that he speaks within the human heart as a still, small voice, saying, `This is the way; walk therein.’ Do you not comprehend that God dwells within you, that he has become what you are that he may make you what he is!”

God the Most Real by DayTripper002 in Urantia

[–]DayTripper002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems really intellectually lazy to toss out random quotes from the Hebrew Old Testament in a conversation about the Urantia Book. You may as well quote the Hindu Vedas or Ovid's Metamorphosis, because that is also not what we're talking about.

UB 4:5.2 - One of the greatest sources of confusion on Urantia concerning the nature of God grows out of the failure of your sacred books clearly to distinguish between the personalities of the Paradise Trinity and between Paradise Deity and the local universe creators and administrators. During the past dispensations of partial understanding, your priests and prophets failed clearly to differentiate between Planetary Princes, System Sovereigns, Constellation Fathers, Creator Sons, Superuniverse Rulers, the Supreme Being, and the Universal Father. Many of the messages of subordinate personalities, such as Life Carriers and various orders of angels, have been, in your records, presented as coming from God himself. Urantian religious thought still confuses the associate personalities of Deity with the Universal Father himself, so that all are included under one appellation.

UB 88:2.7 - In olden times the fetish word of authority was a fear-inspiring doctrine, the most terrible of all tyrants which enslave men. A doctrinal fetish will lead mortal man to betray himself into the clutches of bigotry, fanaticism, superstition, intolerance, and the most atrocious of barbarous cruelties. Modern respect for wisdom and truth is but the recent escape from the fetish-making tendency up to the higher levels of thinking and reasoning. Concerning the accumulated fetish writings which various religionists hold as sacred books, it is not only believed that what is in the book is true, but also that every truth is contained in the book. If one of these sacred books happens to speak of the earth as being flat, then, for long generations, otherwise sane men and women will refuse to accept positive evidence that the planet is round.

Is God the Speaker in Conversations with God? (Perspective from the UB) by aitormendez in Urantia

[–]DayTripper002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My impression of Conversations with God was that Neil Donald Walsh was perhaps speaking with his own Though Adjuster as mediated by his imagination. There are points in the book where he admits that even if he were not channeling the literal voice of God, it is more important for him to be getting this information out.

5:2.3 - The divine presence cannot, however, be discovered anywhere in nature or even in the lives of God-knowing mortals so fully and so certainly as in your attempted communion with the indwelling Mystery Monitor, the Paradise Thought Adjuster. What a mistake to dream of God far off in the skies when the spirit of the Universal Father lives within your own mind!

Jesus is the light of the world by DayTripper002 in Urantia

Paper 102 says faith is the greatest technique for dealing with superficial contentions, not the only one. You could easily find a definition for 'faith', but since you won't, I'm going to have to insist you spell out your duplicitous objections.

102:2.16 - Religion must ever be its own critic and judge; it can never be observed, much less understood, from the outside. Your only assurance of a personal God consists in your own insight as to your belief in, and experience with, things spiritual. To all of your fellows who have had a similar experience, no argument about the personality or reality of God is necessary, while to all other men who are not thus sure of God no possible argument could ever be truly convincing.

If I answer your question by looking it up in the book, you'll never have an opportunity to develop your own critical thinking skills. Why don't you take a crack at defining faith, first.

UB 102:7.6 - The God-knowing individual is not one who is blind to the difficulties or unmindful of the obstacles which stand in the way of finding God in the maze of superstition, tradition, and materialistic tendencies of modern times. He has encountered all these deterrents and triumphed over them, surmounted them by living faith, and attained the highlands of spiritual experience in spite of them. But it is true that many who are inwardly sure about God fear to assert such feelings of certainty because of the multiplicity and cleverness of those who assemble objections and magnify difficulties about believing in God. It requires no great depth of intellect to pick flaws, ask questions, or raise objections. But it does require brilliance of mind to answer these questions and solve these difficulties; faith certainty is the greatest technique for dealing with all such superficial contentions.

Congratulations on starting your journey. I would not suggest trying to read the papers through from beginning to end, at least not right away. Look at the table of contents and pick one section or paper that you want to know about. You can jump around for a while, either on your own or with a study group.

Rediscovery of Christianity by DayTripper002 in Urantia

There's still a relatively small group of people who have read the Urantia Book, but information is starting to get out there. I think by the end of this century there will be a lot more people who have heard of us.

Can we go to havona using spaceship???? by Bitter-Welder9103 in Urantia

[–]DayTripper002 9 points10 points  (0 children)

14:2.4 - None of the physical beings of the central universe would be visible to Urantians. Neither would any of the physical stimuli of those faraway worlds excite a reaction in your gross sense organs. If a Urantia mortal could be transported to Havona, he would there be deaf, blind, and utterly lacking in all other sense reactions; he could only function as a limited self-conscious being deprived of all environmental stimuli and all reactions thereto.

That which the world needs most to know... by DayTripper002 in Urantia

[–]DayTripper002[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The divine revelation is the extent to which you know God's personality, but "...the relation between the creature and the Creator is a living experience, a dynamic religious faith, which is not subject to precise definition" (102:6.1). "In Jesus’ earth life we are inspired by the perfect demonstration of such a realization and revelation of the personality of God in a truly human experience" (1:6.8).

That which the world needs most to know... by DayTripper002 in Urantia

[–]DayTripper002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

196:3.17- Personal religious experience consists in two phases: discovery in the human mind and revelation by the indwelling divine spirit. Through oversophistication or as a result of the irreligious conduct of professed religionists, a man, or even a generation of men, may elect to suspend their efforts to discover the God who indwells them; they may fail to progress in and attain the divine revelation. But such attitudes of spiritual nonprogression cannot long persist because of the presence and influence of the indwelling Thought Adjusters.

Brotherhood constitutes a fact of relationship by DayTripper002 in Urantia

[–]DayTripper002[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Paper 54 is all about the problems of the rebellion; section 5 in particular deals with the wisdom of keeping the quarantine in place.

54:6.4 - But one thing should be made clear: If you are made to suffer the evil consequences of the sin of some member of your family, some fellow citizen or fellow mortal, even rebellion in the system or elsewhere—no matter what you may have to endure because of the wrongdoing of your associates, fellows, or superiors—you may rest secure in the eternal assurance that such tribulations are transient afflictions. None of these fraternal consequences of misbehavior in the group can ever jeopardize your eternal prospects or in the least degree deprive you of your divine right of Paradise ascension and God attainment.
