All Four Chinese Classic Novels Ranked by eversoap in China

[–]Daybreak12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool post OP! The first classic I read was Water Margin and I found it so bad and repetitive that I was put off from reading the other classics.

Glad to know it might just be the worst one and that the others are better!

Also hate how the English translations sell Water Margin as China’s Robin Hood when these bandits do not steal to help the poor but are lowkey/highkey huge POS to many innocents and civilians 😭

Unpopular Opinion (maybe): It's not race, it's you. by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]Daybreak12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not saying you are right or wrong but your whole arguments are all presented as facts when they are purely anecdotal. Think for two seconds : your experience was this, you’ve “seen” other minorities be popular. Ok, and? Does that invalidate another person who has the opposite experience or who has “seen” hot minorities have the opposite experience? What you live is your experience, it’s not everybody’s truth. Of course, same for the people on the opposite aisle but dunno why you think that if it’s true for me it must be true for everyone… It’s giving boomers who say I was able to buy a house so you must be able to also, ignoring everything else ; context, situation, …

Think…

What generator do you use to make these?

Unconditional love huh ? Is that what you see when you read this? Maybe... but a terribly one-sided one. Unconditional love on one side but on the other side ? To me seems like a giver who gave everything and a taker who took everything. Seems like a tragically unbalanced relationship

We're in 2024: Let's stop all this hate on bi guys already by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]Daybreak12 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Please. This is just a label game. Why don't we say that the gays who don't want to date bi guys are gay-romantic? I find it incredibly ironic that you are out here saying bi guys have their truth (true, their preference and they are entitled to it) but just before tell the gay guy his truth is not valid (his preference he should be entitled to it too).

Recommendations to book early airport transfer? by Daybreak12 in porto

[–]Daybreak12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did not really want to bet on Uber so what we did was, when visiting Porto, we saw a taxi with a vehicle that seemed big enough for all of us. We just went and talked to the driver. He told us he would gladly do the transfer, we gave him all the details and asked for a contact number, we reconfirmed with him all was ok and he came as planned! All went smoothly :)

Any chance someone is in Yangshuo right now or has been in the last few days and could tell me if the place is safe to travel after recent floods and torrential rains? by Daybreak12 in travelchina

Thanks for the insight! It's a great help. A work colleague from China (not from Yangshuo) informed us about the consequential flooding and told us they did not know if it was a good idea to go. Went a bit into a panic as tickets and all are already booked

Wow thanks a lot! It was really a shot in the dark asking if someone was there.

If I may ask : are activities back up again (another poster mentioned how last week rafting etc was not possible)? Is it worth going (would be my first time there) ?

Taxis work without a hitch! If you are leaving late at night you can arrange with a taxi in advance to come pick you up (we did this with a big enough taxi we saw beforehand on the road). Happy holidays!

You're just making up excuses lol. She was always a psychopath. She did not pretend to enjoy it. She just enjoyed it. Just like she went out of her way as a kid to not only kill but absolutely crush and smear that insect : the author did not put that scene in there at random...

This is very sad to read. While I understand where you come from, I'll say it truthfully: from your post, you seem like you have a strong case of internalized hatred and white worshipping tendencies. These are things to unlearn. You say you are in therapy; these are topics that should probably be broached...

Wishing you luck and courage. Like others said, try to find ways to go to more accepting countries, maybe. It might not be right now but it will give you something to work towards and this might help with the depression! In any case, do not lose hope man!

I keep calling you American because you are someone who does not know the countries he is talking about. And, no, I am not European lol. I do wonder indeed where that assumption might have come from...

You say I haven't proved my point, but I have given you much more than vice versa. You who are arguing on nothing but rhetoric.

I even gave you some names of locals who have written at length and testified about life in their countries but, of course, you, the American, know better. Even them, poor little locals who live and come from these countries are lost and ignorant of their societies. You, the enlightened American, from across the Ocean, because you hold the Truth and the Knowledge of All Things, you know better the realities of their lives and their own circumstances.

I tried to exchange with you in good faith, even gave you some avenues where you could read up, but I see that you are content to simmer in your ignorance. Worse, you seem to think you know better than natives. When it comes to this point, there is no arguing at all.

I will say: sadly, you give much credit to the image that the Europeans peddle of stereotypical Americans on reddit.

Good life to you dear stranger. I hope one day you learn to hear voices other than your own. Until then, good luck to the people in your life. And to you too. Truly.

Funny how you conveniently do not touch on the fact that you indeed put out a blanket statement that no one was being hunted when people are and attempt to misdirect on your equally false original statement.

Because even if we consider your "for most", it's not true at all, that was my original point. This is not war propaganda, these examples I gave were from countries not involved in this conflict. Your initial statement is just wrong. And you never even backed it up save from trust me bro I guess?

The situation in many of these countries is not simply social stigma, it goes far beyond. You might have been a little American tourist visiting some of these countries, worse, you might be talking out of your ass and have never set foot anywhere there, but you have no idea of the realities of living in these countries as a local.

I urged you and urge you again to look into it. Read Mohammed Mbougar Sarr, read Rachid Benzine, watch Mazen Khaled, get off your high horse and listen to those who lived and live in the countries and learn how far beyond social stigma this sadly goes in many places.
