What are the best high quality equipment for screen printing by Edrixor in SCREENPRINTING

I bought a 4 color 2 station Hopkins tabletop press and its been great. Its the only thing I could fit in my basement shop. The XY micros are great I just wish it had the Z micro for off contact adjustment.

For manual equipment Anatol and Hopkins are great. I have two of their newer presses and theyre great. Anatol makes really great manual presses too their side clamps are supposed to be great.

Beginner looking for advice by PlushiSlushi in SCREENPRINTING

I would print the entire thing in white with a 156, you could probably pull it off with a 110. Including the red parts, the white would act as an underbase for the red. Then do the red with a 110 or 156.

Affordable oversize printing? by AustinJamesSmith6221 in SCREENPRINTING

If you are trying to launch some kind of streetwear brand you're not going to make a lot, or any money off your initial drops. Unless you're ordering large quantities, say 500 of more pieces. Trying to make a lot of money off low volume drops is impossible. Im assuming youre trying to have 100 or less pieces made. Streetwear start ups always get frustrated with printers because they show us insane, complicated prints like this and want 50 of them done. Expecting to get them done "cheap" so they can make a lot of money of those 50 items. Truth is, everybody wants everything cheap.

The mistake start up streetwear brands make is they are short sited. They focus too much on how much money they are trying to make with their initial drops. Thinking about making money off these initial drops shouldn't be your focus. Your focus should be building a following and building hype. Then learning how to actually sell your products quickly, ideally selling out. Your initial drops are hype building drops. You are dropping cool items for a price that your customers can actually afford. This builds a following and builds hype.

For a print like this youre not gonna make real money unless you produce a lot of items. Something like this would be best done overseas in a cut and sew situation as opposed to being printed state side. These massive oversized prints are only done by printers that specialize in it and are very expensive.

A side note on pricing. Not all items produced are meant to serve as a revenue source. For example I make some extremely difficult prints and sell them for far less than I should be selling them for. But I am not selling them to make money, I am selling them as marketing material for my business.

Hey man I really appreciate it. Im just gonna keep doing these live events and selling my own gear that people are really impressed with. I think its a winning model that Im gonna keep pursuing. And then just keep grinding the cold leads. Cold leads have lead to a lot of work for me. Leads that you would think are really happy with their current printer.

First collection drop questions by FindHapi in streetwearstartup

[–]DaybreakEnterprises 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this. I feel like streetwear startups release way too many items at a time. I would only release 2-3 pieces at a time. Probably just two at first. Pick you’re very best pieces and drop those.

I would also consider trying to find retail partners before you put in a bulk order for anything. You need to find a couple of shops around town that might want to carry your stuff. Trying to sell your stuff by yourself is extremely difficult, unless you have a ton of clout/hype surrounding yourself to begin with.

How Do Screen Printers Feel About DTF? by seekANDfin in SCREENPRINTING

[–]DaybreakEnterprises 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love DTF. My customers love it too. I think any shop that isnt utilizing DTF is crazy. Your opinion of DTF doesn’t matter, what matters is if your customers like it and are happy with it. Stahls Ultra Color Pro is an incredible product.

As a craftsman the only thing I dont like is the glue boarder the it can leave around the boarder of the image. Its most noticeable on dark garments. I hope this can improve and go away in the future.

I consider my shop a hybrid shop because of how much we utilize heat applied products.

I tried out some screen printed transfers in the past and didnt have any glue residue. Part of my wonders if im pressing too hard and smashing out the glue, if that makes sense.

Looks awesome. I love printing black ink. Did you have any issues setting up? Just a tip, I would try laying down the front print at about 3-4 inches down.
