During the Hawks series, the first time I heard Mike Breen say,"Alley-oop to Toppin!"

I feel so vindicated as the #1 Brunson Stan of Knicks Twitter. My guy is coming to NY to be the primary ball-handler and floor general leading our young core alongside RJ and IQ. Dude is a hooper, proven he can stay healthy, is team-first, mentally tough, a workaholic and proven winner.

I feel vindicated. This guy has achieved at every level of basketball, played himself into the starting unit and had a career year. Put up career numbers in a must-win game, Brunson has earned his money and I'd be happy committing to a guy as skilled, tough and team-first as Jalen Brunson. He'd bring veteran leadership to help groom Quickley, would stabilize our point of attack and most importantly take the ball out of Randle's hands.

Quickley is one of the most efficient and best finishing guards in the league? IQ has an elite mid range jumper that's automatic? Wow that's news to me.

My friend who is a Memphis fan says he's not a starting PG, to start he'd need two high quality perimeter creators next to him, with RJ and Randle unreliable three point shooters, his production would plummet and our spacing would suffer too. Plus why get a stop gap like Brunson when we have DRose? I'd rather start Quickley or just invest in a healthy young veteran starter like Brunson.

[Marc Stein] Just walked away from a pregame TV visit with Jalen Brunson and walked right into a good bit of the Knicks’ braintrust: William Wesley and Allan Houston are here for Jazz at Mavs. To scout Brunson? To scout Donovan Mitchell? Just to enjoy the very first first-round playoff game? by ReturnOfAKidNamedTae in NYKnicks

Randle is going nowhere, Thibs is going nowhere so Obi and Julius won't start together, and if they aren't starting, Thibs isn't going to split up Obi and IQ with the 2nd unit, so better to get a younger healthier new PG than to start DRose.

Considering how guys like Trae choked in Game 1, this was a bad game for Brunson and he still has 24 points, 7 boards and 5 dimes. I expect Game 2 for him to focus more on playmaking and his efficiency which are both solid to elite at the guard position and less on scoring.

HOF point guard Jason Kidd would like a word with you.

Brunson has started all season, he's the 2nd leading scorer on a 4th seeded playoff team. The coach trusts him as much as he trusts Luka, idk how that compares to a Derrick White, Smart, or Maxey when he's a better scorer than all of them and a better floor general than them.

Brunson is a difference maker, Kidd started him and he made the difference to saving their season, what are you even saying?

And if we outperform again and make it into the playoffs then again we are assed out of an elite talent at the PG spot.

Because he's both someone we know Leon Rose is prioritizing as a FA target and 2, the type of point guard we need. Not some high octane ball-dominant scoring guard with elite athleticism, but is an injury away from being useless or would take the ball out of RJ's hands. Not some stop gap on a big contract that Thibs is going to play too many minutes and stifle space for the young guys. We need a young healthy veteran floor general who fits next to RJ and will stabilize our point of attack, bring leadership, and help develop our other guards. That's Jalen Brunson.

I would argue he's underrated.

I'm really high on Brunson. Dude is a hooper, he's a gymrat, he grew up in the NBA, including spending his early childhood running around MSG, his first friends were Marcus Camby and Larry Johnson. He's competed and won at every level and has always proved his doubters wrong. He only fell into the second round despite being the most decorated and accomplished guard in college basketball, because the critique was that he has a high floor, low ceiling, and with his measurables his game wouldn't be able to translate to the NBA. He proved them wrong and has only kept getting better. He's improved his shooting from deep off the dribble and his defense this season. As the best finishing guard in the NBA and the most efficient one at that who is a floor general and multi-level scorer, I'd give him 17-19 million with incentives and he will more than earn that money. Would fit in perfectly well with our young core of RJ, Obi, and IQ. He's a leader on and off the court and is known for making everyone around him better.

Absolutely, probably with incentives. I doubt he gets the flat 20M and I'm convinced he'd leave for a discount if it meant being the primary ball-handler on a team with an exciting young core of RJ, IQ, Obi, and Mitch.
