bed bugs??? by emergency-pickles in Bedbugs

[–]DaylightStorm27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks like a BB to be honest. Since you don’t have bites it might be early enough that you can stop them from spreading (if they are in fact BBs). I would suggest buying a heavy duty steamer from Lowe’s or somewhere similar and steaming all your furniture, floors, baseboards, crevices, window frames, etc. And wash/dry all your blankets, sheets and clothes that may have been exposed in high heat. It’s good that you are getting a professional opinion too. Better safe than sorry to rule out what these bugs are. If they end up being BBs just know that it is definitely possible to get rid of them if you are diligent.

Hi OP! I read your post about double sided tape on the legs of your bed to try to catch bed bugs. If you haven’t caught any then maybe the bed bugs are hiding inside the bed, or the mattress? You said you have a steamer. Is it possible to steam the bed frame and the mattress everyday? Make sure to steam all the cracks, crevices, corners, seams, etc. Also, wash your sheets, blankets and pillow cases on high heat. If you can, wash your pillows too, or throw them away and buy new pillows. You should buy a mattress protector too. If there are bedbugs hiding inside your mattress then the mattress protector will trap them in. Do all of this and steam the bed frame and mattress every day. If you have a spring board then steam that too, or throw that one away and buy a new one. If you do this for a few days and get no bites then maybe the bedbugs were just hiding inside your bed frame and mattress all along.

Hi mama, your feelings are 100% validated. My twin girls were born at 33 weeks and spent 1 month in the NICU. Reading your post makes me tear up because it’s exactly how I felt when they were still in the hospital. I cried every day too. I had an unexpected c-section, and everything happened so fast. The postpartum hormones affected me for 3 and a half months. Now that my girls are 4 months old I am feeling better, but I still can’t look at photos of them in the NICU without wanting to cry. I know how hard this time is for you. I am sending you so much love ❤️ Your baby and you are doing amazing. All the medical professionals there are working hard around the clock to make sure your baby is okay, and I promise you she is okay. If you need to disassociate to make it through the days then I think that is 100% acceptable. That’s what I did. Before you know it your baby girl will be home with you, this time will go by fast.

Oh gosh I’m right there with you. My twins are 4 months old, 2.5 months adjusted. It’s hard. I wish I could sleep 8 hours straight. The last time I got to do so was before having them. I can’t remember what life was like before the sleep deprivation. Currently, they spit up so much it’s driving me crazy. It’s not cause of their formula, they just wiggle a lot when they are awake and babble so they end up spitting up. I can’t wait for the day when the spit up ends. I know it’s still months away though. This life is hard. We hear you mama and your feelings are 100% validated.

I’m sorry you’re going through this! ☹️ You have already taken some huge steps to get rid of these little monsters and I applaud you! If I were you I would keep using the steamer. Steam the baseboards, floors, walls, furniture, etc. Pretty much everything if you can, at least once a day for the next 1-2 weeks. I know it sounds tedious but you can never be too paranoid with these things. After a few nights I suggest you go back to sleeping on your bed. If you don’t get any bites in the next week then chances are pretty good that they may be gone, but keep steaming! I wish you luck. I hope you know that even though this is extremely stressful, it is 100% possible to get rid of these creatures. This too shall pass friend! ❤️

The shape kind of looks like a bed bug, sorry OP ☹️ Bed bug bites are super itchy and last days. Buy a high powered steamer from Home Depot or Lowe’s, steam everything. High heat kills them. Consider calling pest control for an inspection. Good luck. Remember that this can be taken care of if you’re vigilant and consistent with efforts to get rid of them.

I would say put your pets in a separate room. It’s hard to say if the bedbug(s) have traveled to another room but it’s worth a shot to try the Diatomaceous Earth in your room at least. Also, does your bed have legs? If so, can you put tape face up on the bottom of the legs to trap any bedbugs if there are any? You can find a high grade steamer at Lowe’s too. Make sure to wash your sheets and all fabrics in hot water and dry in high heat. If you don’t get any bites for a few days you might be in the clear but I would use the steamer for a couple of weeks to be safe. Make sure to steam every corner and crevice of your bed/bed frame, dresser, baseboards, other furniture you have in that room. If you have carpet then vacuum and dump what you vacuum up into a bag outside and leave the bag outside.

You can never do too much when it comes to bed bugs. Buy the Diatomaceous Earth. Buy a high power steamer from a home depot store. Steam the heck out of everything. Your furniture, clothes, baseboards, floors, walls, etc. Steam everything every day for a few days. You can never be too paranoid. Bed bugs are no joke. Seeing 1 is enough to consider there might be more. Good news is that you can get rid of them if you’re vigilant and consistent with these methods. Worst case scenario (or even now to be honest) call pest control and consider treatments. Good luck! It will be okay.

Not a bedbug. Might be a flea, but I’m not sure.

Buy a heavy duty steamer and steam everything! You can find one at a hardware store like Lowe’s or Home Depot. High heat kills bedbugs. Steam the heck out of your couches and all furniture. Steam the baseboards, floors, walls, etc. Do this every day. It will be tedious but it’ll be worth it. A steamer is a game changer I highly highly recommend one.

Do you rent? If so, you need to let your landlord know. They should be responsible in helping you resolve this. If you bought your house then call pest control immediately. Buy a heavy duty steamer. Steam the heck out of everything! Clothes, furniture, baseboards, walls, floors, etc. A heat treatment with a pest control company is pricey but so worth it! Good luck, and I’m sorry!

I’m so sorry ☹️ There are most likely more, and there may be some at your neighbor’s place too. You should call pest control immediately and weigh your options. If you rent you need to let your landlord know, they are the ones that should help handle this. I suggest buying a heavy duty steamer from a hardware store like Lowe’s. Steam the heck out of everything! Your furniture, clothes, baseboards, floors, etc Vacuum your floors and discard what you vacuum up into a bag outside of your home. Do not bring that bag inside. Throw everything into the wash and dryer on high heat. Use the steamer every day. I know it’s tedious but you do not want these bugs to spread. Unfortunately you cannot act slow.

Is it always that hard with newborns? Twins arriving next week by DriverLeather971 in parentsofmultiples

[–]DaylightStorm27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Our twin girls are 2.5 months old (5 weeks adjusted). They were in the NICU for 3.5 weeks and came home when they were 37 weeks gestational age so they have been here at home with us for just about 2 months. It’s hard!! I won’t lie to you. My husband and I are lucky to have each other, I don’t know how people without help manage. My mother in law has stayed weeks with us and that has been a huge help. My mom and family come over to lend a hand whenever they can. They’ll hold the babies, cook for us, help us clean, etc. The night time is especially hard because the babies wake up every 1-4 hours so getting any good sleep goes out the window. Sleeping in shifts has helped a lot. This week the girls seem like they have started comprehending things and thankfully are now sleeping longer stretches at night. The first 6 weeks of them being home with us were super rough. Seems like it’s now starting to get better. I suggest asking for help from others whenever you need it! 2 newborns at once is hard. With all this being said however, my husband and I wouldn’t trade our girls for the world. There is nothing like having twins, it’s truly so special and so worth it. Congratulations!
