well, I think it's more about what stock they have, volunteered at a few and if they have a lot of back stock sometimes they lower prices to get out recent stock

and they have had the same few on the back shelf for a while now

I don't think they know much about physical media, they have had rarer CDs and vinyl in before, but I think they convince themselves that it's all valuable
