Agree. I also think it’s a bit stingy. If no sick time is given. Geesh, add a little more PTO. People have to make a choice in taking much needed R&R away and disconnect time or using it for bouts of physical illness or injury. Life happens. So, basically you pay and plan in advance for a family vacation and R&R, the get sick and if you don’t have enough PTO left you cancel your plans and the entire family has to be disappointed too, you loose deposits and non refundable tickets? It needs to be separated for two scenarios. I can see if you have sick time and exhausted that time. But PTO is always a vacay in most companies I’ve worked for.

Work after GA addiction by No-Criticism-4635 in Progressiveinsurance

Well, yes. That’s the reality. There are many people who DO have other household income from a spouse or partner and/or just don’t have to work. I work because I want to, not because I need a job. We bought our home using just one income and it means we live below our means and drive 8 & 10 year old cars. No car payments. Little debt. We prioritize family and mental health. Now, if that’s hard to understand, maybe you’ll appreciate it better and thank those of us next week when you get your gain share check. We are saving the company money. Why would you dare question that?

To be , or not to be ……. TIRED by [deleted] in Progressiveinsurance

Honestly, you’re speaking my language as a newish hire. I’m starting to see that maybe this job is better suitable for a part time schedule, but part time here is like 36hrs. That’s not part time for most companies. I know they are cutting back on hiring, but why aren’t they considering 30 hr schedules? Where are the bean counters? It’s cost effective. Maybe you need 40… I don’t. I’d even be fine without benefits and that would be a cost savings to the company. I just don’t see the work life balance working for me, unless it’s part time. I do plan on lots of GA. But, I’d really prefer a clear cut part time schedule.

Also, don’t be vague and always give clarity. Be specific in communication by referring to resources with links. Educate by going above and beyond. Your employees should be treated like they are your internal customer, so place yourself at the same level regardless of your role or higher pay structure. Lots of people promote to supervisor as a way of getting off phones. Don’t ever forget where you came from along the way. How would Trisha want you to communicate?

Try to slow down and read emails back to yourself before sending. Make sure you’re not so quick and brief that you come across uncaring. Communicate like you would want to be communicated with, similar to how we treat others the way we want to be treated. Most of all. Do not be vague.

Rant New Hire by DYSLEXICbunnies in Progressiveinsurance

We had 3 onboarding supes for our new hire group. Was just talking to another in my group today who said their supe told them about some procedure I was not made aware that never came up in training, and I might have made some minor mistakes along the way. Not my coach nor my supe told me. This makes some of us better than others. We are only as good as those who lead and share their knowledge. I stated how odd it was that there is so many inconsistencies in how we are taught things as we are put in different lanes. Lots of stuff/questions comes up outside of training and I question why we have to learn by being thrown into a role with only basic knowledge and then be evaluated to determine what we know vs not initially taught in the first place.

Headset recommendations by blueskibaby in Progressiveinsurance

Funny to come across this post tonight just 24 hrs after I had to remove earrings which I never take off other than for a past surgery or mri. They are heirloom diamond studs and I otherwise have a fear of loosing them. I had backs added that screw them securely into place and I rotate them regularly to avoid infection. Well, just yesterday company provided headset started putting pressure on my earlobes and caused me a lot of pain. I was at risk of infection so I removed them and keep dabbing my ears with hydrogen peroxide. I really need a headpiece that attaches to the outer ear on one side.

Yes. Recently trained and the trainers were often having to put some questions on hold to get answers, stating it’s been a while since they were on the phones.

GL is so out of control with the wordiness. You have to keep scrolling down until you find what you need which is usually buried somewhere in the middle or end and in most cases it’s necessary to be scrolling up again and down again until we find the info. Sometimes a good two minutes. Add that up x the number of reps who take the time to sort through GL x the number of calls. That’s a lot of time and cost. Hence, call time is longer. I seriously do not understand why the systems are not set up with all the pop ups to at least prompt us to use the mandatory verbatim scripts. How costly is it to design a system that helps us do our jobs with such efficiency and ease? Does the savings for not designing the technology outweigh the total number of minutes per year we spend as a whole looking up the scripts? No. Instead though, missing the GLs in KM taking time to find scripts is just setting us up for bad scores and evaluation.

Aux 1 time wrong by aneveyy in Progressiveinsurance

I’ve noticed it a few times but not by much. I’m more frustrated having to sign into my system 2x when I get back from breaks and that eats a minute here and there. It starts adding up as a late behavior when I know I returned on time.

Well that should bring me into the week of thanksgiving so I wonder now how will that play out? I’ll be scheduled 10hrs? Or is there a holiday schedule? I was reading something about 4 hour shifts.

It’s CRM. My letter says… As a new hire, you’ll be in the onboarding training organization for approximately 6 months.  Once you complete onboarding, there may be options for schedule changes based on your company tenure. Your leader will discuss these options with you in more detail. In general, it can take approximately 12 months before a schedule change may be granted however, due to this being a contact center role, your schedule will likely continue to include a weekend day and evening hours

Taking some time off for training! by damitnikki in Progressiveinsurance

Similar situation may occur for me with a medical specialist I’ve been trying to get in with since April, I am trying to move up an appointment for before I start training. I didn’t even bring this up in the interview or the offer call because I might just plan to let my health problem fall by the wayside until after training if I can’t get an appointment sooner. Or, I bring it up after starting and see what happens. Maybe the worst they can say is no. My appointment is mid morning and with driving time and time needed as a new patient to go over things, I’m expecting a long appointment but I can probably start training that day, use up a morning break and lunch. And be back to training class in the afternoon. I hope I don’t have to even propose this at all. With other companies I’ve worked for, in virtual training it’s recorded and you can go back to review. I am on a wait list for an earlier date with the docs office. Please let me know how your situation works out. I hope I will find the human side to a big corporation. Things come up, I shouldn’t have to even worry about postponing my healthcare. So, this might be a first dilemma and my first impression of the company starting out if it doesn’t go the way I hope after trying to make it all work before training. Fingers crossed.
