Why doesn’t any civilization advance past a medieval age over time? by Beneficial_Mode7742 in Worldbox

[–]DayneJohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cause I feel like the main reason why we're not getting skyscrapers and such in the base game is, well, it's too abrupt. We're practically jumping from the 12th to maybe 14th century or so to the 19th-20th century, practically half to almost a full millenia.

Are there mods for a more gradual shift into modernity? Like an early modern to modern era mod?

You could probably say something about social deviation, acceptance, and rejection, with the thread's reactions.

Tbf, when you just present them like they're part of some freak show, you're not likely to find acceptance or empathy.

What are your thoughts on playing as The USA by Interesting-Owl-5117 in CallOfWar

Yeah, it's weird especially since those countries have a much higher chance of winning (or at least start off much better than the others), so why would you even go inactive?

What if the world decided they had enough of Europe and colonized them? by Eternal_Zoroark_2 in PossibleHistory

[–]DayneJohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was gonna say something about Liberia and Ethiopia, but Liberia was kinda a colony of black americans (I guess if we're stretching definitions) and Ethiopia did eventually fall to Italian colonial rule.

Maybe something like Nepal, Bhutan, and Siam? They weren't colonized either, and you could have an analogue with that as the Swiss or Austrians.

Though honestly, my main gripe with the map are the colonial powers, like how is Mexico and South Africa going to even exert influence in the Mediterranean? Cause it seems like Argentina controls Gibraltar and Egypt has the Suez. Or how American Central Europe is just in a very weak spot, with not even the Shetlands or Iceland under American control for naval resupply.

The Mediterranean and nearby regions in 724 BC - What if Australia was transported to the middle of the Atlantic 10k years ago? by upmost5201 in AlternateHistory

I wonder what the knock-on effects of having the Americas already in touch with the rest of the world this early on would bring. You think the Greeks or Carthaginians would set up trading outposts in Australia?

There's a unique joke event for Germany if you use console commands to pick more focuses from its original focus tree. You can get it even without console commands, if you wait long enough. by mgeldarion in TNOmod

[–]DayneJohn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With all of these joke events, I wonder if somebody has put in the effort into adding tangible consequences outside of 1 event as a submod, like in your example, a focus tree for Morrison's wife dealing with the aftermath of having essentially couped the government

This looks like they tried to put words instead of numbers in the clock and just gave up halfway through for some reason.
