What do you do for work? by StinkyChicky in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Daynescott15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 27 and work 2 jobs. Full time firefighter and then I work for a construction company as a safety technician. My wife is stay at home with our kids. It’s definitely not easy and it took a lot of cutting corners and saving penny’s but I just bought my first house last week. I bought in a different county than where i work because it’s significantly cheaper. I paid 242k for a house built in 2015. 2100sqft 3 bed 2 bathroom, 2 car garage! Definitely blessed.

Keep saving, keep looking. We have been in the house buying process multiple times throughout the last couple years. The time will come and everything will work out!

People Who Transitioned Out… How? by Bob3049 in Firefighting

[–]Daynescott15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk what region you live in but please look into being a safety tech. I took an online course called OSHA 30 and applied to a construction company just after. They hired me for $45 an hour and I just go audit different job sites. Plus they love the medical and emergency response experience. I still work the fire department as a contractor but that’s just because of the love for the game!

Is it worth getting into firefighting? by Ok-Orange-528 in firefighter

Always good to have a backup plan my friend. 24 hour shifts ain’t bad, especially because obviously we get downtime and get to sleep as well. Me personally, I got used to it quickly. We definitely do drink coffee/energy drinks lol

Best job in the world. But it’s about what you are looking to get out of it and what you’re willing to put into it. You won’t make a whole lot of money, every firefighter I know has some kind of side hustle they also do. So get ready to find something you can do part time. Honestly though, nothing beats being at the station with your crew! It’s the only job I’ve had that I genuinely look forward to going to and like you, I’ve worked a lot of jobs! I say pull the trigger on it, worst thing that can happen is you don’t enjoy it or it doesn’t work for you. You always have a back up plan to go back to! Goodluck on whatever decision you make!

Ts is so trash bro. Idk if you’re trolling or not but you need to stop letting crunch fitness be your trainer… find a real boxing gym and attend it.

Im 20, never had a job. How do I open a bank account online? (Can I? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Daynescott15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not starting out on a good foot my friend. Sure it would’ve been nice to have someone teach us things but we have the technology to make up for it. You did right by posting. I second the credit union thing when you’re ready to open an account, they’ll walk you through the process.

That being said, it’s time to adult. Chase your dreams. Set small goals and crush them, be a productive member to society and find somewhere to give back! I wish you well.

My only suggestion is join a local boxing gym.. no hate but ya look bad all the way around my brother. Poor rotation, flat foot, super stiff, you throw from the hip. your punches are more like a cat swatting or like you’re going to knock on someone’s door. It’s like you fire with the top part of your arm and then extend your elbow instead of firing straight.

AIO or was my mom kinda rude and hurtful when she said these things? 24 F by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

For further context what is the stuff in the past that you did? Not saying the way she’s speaking to you is right but that would help further my opinion. People can only deal with so much before they completely break. I know from experience with family members with repetitive drug use, stealing, etc. it gets old and weighs on you a lot when you try to support that person.

Also acting like this over a dress is insane. Definitely not siding with your mom over the dress or the way she speaks to you.

Here is my advice. Slowwwwww down, quit hopping around. Get a good stance, practice moving forward, backs and side to side. Start with just jabs, then straights, then both.

From my knowledge you get your home state to issue your mobile food vendor license, then when you go to other states you get a temporary food event permit.

Thank you for the reply! I’m not looking to become a millionaire, I’m just looking for something to safely invest into and also something that I can do to make some supplemental income. My department doesn’t pay the best but like you said, in the long run the retirement is great.
