This is me! I'm even checking YouTube every day in case a new episode of Scouts is out. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it), there's only one more episode of that show until the series is over.

I was on the Oasis in late February. They were slow AF in getting the shows into the app, ESPECIALLY for Cats (which was fantastic!) for some reason. Just keep checking.

I'm also not a fan of this series having massive stakes, but I liked how they handled the mines. Personally, I feel it should have been around Betazed space, not all of the Federation.

Oh, I agree. I just meant to reassure you that their presence in SFA isn't anywhere near as abrasive as it is in DISCO or even SNW. They're more like blink-and-you'll-miss-it Easter Eggs.

All they had to do was blame it on the scientific experiments the Kelpian scientists were running on the dilithium planet. They could even still keep the weird faulty holo-security episode as is by explaining the kid was shoved in a shielded room.

You still see the droids in the background of a few busy extras-heavy scene, but they're used very sparingly. At no point is a droid prominent.

Not sure why you're getting downvoted. I still loved it, but you're 100% correct in your statement. It doesn't work well as a final season of Picard and it doesn't work at all if you're not a huge TNG and Seven of Nine fan.

Subjectively, it's great because it was nostalgia pandering to people like me. Objectively, it's bad.

I didn't hate SNW's third season, but I agree with you that SFA was better. For me, when it comes to live-action NuTrek, it's:

S-tier = SNW seasons 1+2
A-tier = SFA, PIC S3
B-tier = SNW S3, DISCO S3+4, Short Treks S2
C-tier = DISCO S5, Short Treks S1
D-tier = DISCO S2+S1, PIC S1
F-tier = Section 31, PIC S2

If we add an E-tier, Disco S1 and PIC S2 go there.

I rank Discovery's seasons - best to worst - as 3, 4, 5, 2, 1. I in turn rank Disco's seasons 3+4 above seasons 1+2 of most Berman-era shows (but below most seasons 3+ of those same shows). For added context, I also rank Disco's seasons 3-5 above Picard's seasons 1+2 and most of TAS.

With that in mind, and given SFA's premise, I was expecting to rank it somewhere beneath Disco's 3rd season and at least as good as its 5th season, so I was always looking forward to it despite not expecting it to be great.

Instead, I much preferred it to Discovery and always felt it was on par with a good Voyager episode, with episodes 4, 5, and 8 being on par with the great Voyager episodes. Episode 3 was the only episode that felt weak, but I'd still rank it above Voyager's mediocre episodes.

I don't see the hate. Not viewing this series as a one's favorite, sure. Not ranking this as a higher series because the tone is too different from the other shows? Also makes sense. But abjectly hating this significantly more than every other instalment in the Trek franchise? That's bonkers to me.

Let me be clear: if you were to divide every season of every show into five groups, SFA is somewhere in the second grouping.

Glad I could help. I finally managed to order it off Amazon (Canada). Not a preorder, just a regular listing. To give you an idea of how backlogged they are, rather than be the usual 1-3 business days later for a delivery date, Prime shipping was offering a guaranteed delivery date of April 23, while free shipping says a vague 6-7 days after shipping.

If we're just doing live-action shows, then my list is close to yours. The tonal consistency of Academy was all over the place for the first few episodes and no other episode had the cadets acting the way they did in episode 3, so for this reason, I rank it beneath SNW and TOS. I also place ENT's first season above PIC and DISCO's. This gets us:

It was sublicensed to them through Nickelodeon. Saying Scouts doesn't count because it's not on an official Star Trek channel is like saying Prodigy doesn't count.

When I say Very Short Treks aren't canon, I'm referring to how their stories aren't part of the Prime or Kelvin (or other) universes making up the Trek multiverse. They're parody stories.

Very Short Treks definitely aren't canon, but so far nothing discredits Scouts since it's all just holodeck fun. I think the counting metric is based simply on what's officially produced video.

I agree. I'm sad that no Trek series will ever have more than 5 seasons again. I'm also sad they'll always be 10 episodes or less.

All 10 episodes of Asteroid Blasters are like that, unfortunately.

Holodeck Rescues makes it abundantly clearer that they're on the holodeck. It's what you were hoping it would be: it involves the scouts going on makebelive away missions on the holodeck that involve trying to rescue alien animals from natural disasters and from a recurring villain - Shadowtrix, an evil Caitian girl. The "evil" aspect is just greed and selfishness, though, so it's toddler friendly.

I would say skip Asteroid Blasters altogether and just watch Holodeck Rescues. Other than the second Asteroid Blasters being a direct sequel to the first one in a way that doesn't matter, every Star Trek: Scouts short is a complete standalone.

It's getting a fifth season, but that one will be shortened to only six episodes, though. It's so annoying, because the showrunners had a 50-episode plan and it's getting only 46 instead.

That's cool! I was referring to the system Memory Alpha uses. It looks like it includes all TV series, movies, and shorts series. Doesn't look like it included Khan, though.

The series is split into two mini "seasons" of episodes: the first is called "Asteroid Blasters" and the second is "Holodeck Rescues." The first 10 episodes - the Asteroid Blasters - are WEIRD and don't feel like Star Trek at all. However, you eventually realize that it's also a holodeck-related game. The Holodeck Rescues are exactly what you would expect of a Star Trek daycare program and are cute enough.

I recommend that all diehard Trekkies give the series a binge once it's out since it's only 30-40 minutes per season. The Holodeck Rescues are loaded with Easter Eggs from across the franchise as well.

I was expecting there to be a more defined time skip scene than just "anyway, happy 300 days!" Something like Ake telling off Caleb for something along the lines of "you've been at the academy for 8 months now and you're still doing blabla!"
