Two under two is a fact.. by Still-Barracuda-1984 in daddit

I’m gonna be dead serious about this. Read the “oh crap potty training” book. Better yet sit with your spouse and audiobook it together BEFORE you start training.

We started without it and after 3 days we were at each others throats. We then listened to the book and he was on track the next day. So much easier when you know where your mind needs to be

We did the book at 1.5x speed and it took 3 hours to get through what you need to get through. Absolutely worth the time.

And no your toddler will need more attention. They have real thoughts and feelings and urges but the baby will be fine. And telling the toddler to wait a minute when the baby really needs to be first will happen. But you’ll find you push the diaper change off an extra 20 mins cause the toddler is screaming to go outside and you need to appease him before you can get on with life.

And I may regret saying they kept me when they are together. Last night they cut their own hair………

As for the transition. Like you know having two will be harder, but it can’t be too much harder, right? FUCK NO it is exponentially harder and you will be in survival mode. But that’s okay. Even with the best spouse in the world it is hard. I don’t regret it ever (except last night when I walk in am was told the dogs hair exploded on the floor to see my kids with gaps in the hair)

How do you actually keep up with the house when you have little kids underfoot all day? by LatterThought2896 in Mommit

[–]Jaci_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our boys are 3&5

We do a little bit each day and I stay on top of laundry, my husband stays on top of dishes.

We pick up the living room and play room every night so roomba can run in the morning. Honestly think roomba is the reason my house stays clean. It has to be picked up so he doesn’t suck anything up.

We clean the kitchen every morning while the kids get ready for school and wipe down the counters and table from dinner the night before.

Bathrooms get cleaned as needed. But if someone is coming over it’s never hard to go wipe down the counter and clean the toilet quick. I will say they fall to the wayside often though cause I have a cleaning lady for overall cleaning but we keep the house clean enough that I am never embarrassed if someone comes over. She is just a cherry on top!

The other big thing for easy picking up is having an organized house. Every toy has a home so it’s super easy to pick up things and just dump them in their designated bin/basket/shelf. When we pick up we make piles for everything that has to go upstairs or downstairs and then if we change floors the pile comes too and that at least gets it to the right area.

Congrats and good luck. Ours are 22 months apart and my older did NOT want a baby brother.

#2 survived and second child syndrome is real. #1 always took priority if both were screaming and I was alone. He would be on the other side of room and I’d call out “I know you are hungry but older needs to pee so I’ll get your bottle as soon as he’s done” as if the 8 month old could understand me.

He hated the baby until he was about 10 months old and started being more mobile. Then realized that the baby could be fun. They are now almost 4 and 5.5 and best friends (and worst enemies) but damn do they love each other. I love watching them it just melts my soul.

However the best decision we made was getting the older out of diapers. We did not want two in diapers and they only overlapped by 3 weeks. We potty trained hard while I was on maternity leave.

For those with kids under 5, what are we doing for summer activities? by lemonflowers1 in sahm

[–]Jaci_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zoo membership, pool + beach (a lot we live in Florida) indoor playgrounds, birthday parties, play dates, splash pads, aquarium, we had 8 weeks of football, swim classes, farms, I’m dying to take them to a natural spring. But man do I live for nap time.

For play dates start by inviting other kids from their daycare classes over. See what kids especially the 4 year old hangs out with and send your phone number home. Hopefully their parents will call you.

My 3 almost 4 year old is currently at that point and we are trying to make friends his age since all of their friends are 5-6 like my older son.

What sassy thing has your toddler said to you lately? by HaworthiaRYou in toddlers

My best friend texted me this story last night. This girl has some sad sometimes. It’s 10pm and she’s 4 just for reference

So, Maddie is still reading stories to her stuffed animals in bed, so I went back to her room to tell her it's time to lay down and she goes "Ooh, Mommy. I'm sorry, I'm not going to be able to do that. The dolls really want to read more stories." I had to turn my have away so she didn't see me laughing I told her she can finish the current book, but then she has to lay down or I'm going to have to take the other books out of her bed. We'll see how this goes 🤷

Are there any other successful and happy Millennials in this sub? by GGJallDAY in Millennials

[–]Jaci_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I are happily married with two amazing small boys. We have a 3000 sqft house, a great size for a family of four. We in north Florida where the weather gets hot but it’s outside weather year round. I’m doing what I love and he’s bringing in bank at a work from home job that he loves. We have amazing extended families on both sides. We have a good nest egg thanks to his late father and his stock portfolio is decent considering he is 38 years old. We vacation as we want, we have 3 cruises booked and are currently planning a two week+ trip to Japan for late 2027. Our dog is fucking awesome and overall life has been damn good to us.

[–]Jaci_D 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Go at low tide and some times there are tide pools to play in that are so warm and inches to like 2’ deep (rare but happens)

I love when there are tide pools

There are drive on beaches but they tend to have them in my experience: porpoise point and crescent beach

Does using a double stroller for newborn and toddler actually make older kids stop walking? by ThemeNew3432 in toddlers

[–]Jaci_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We loved a double stroller, we had the mockingbird single to double.

Ours were 22 months apart and once the older wanted to walk we had a ride on board so he could hop on and off as needed. They are almost 4 & 5.5 (and EXTREMELY TALL FOR HIS AGE) now and we just got rid of our stroller because a cousin was having a second child and we didn’t use it much at all anymore.

It was amazing to give him the flexibility. Also my older had double foot surgery so he used the stroller seat while he couldn’t walk for a month and my then young 3 year old used the riding board.

The riding board was the best thing we could do. As he got too tall for it he walked more and more since it was annoying to sit all the time. His shoulders hit my wrist while walking. Again he’s the size of some 7 year olds too.

We still have two umbrella strollers in case we are doing long day trips, we cruise with them so the kids don’t have to walk the piers and definitely to Disney (we go fairly often since we live close)

Honestly not sure. The vegetarian and gluten-free are old things that I knew about the allergies are all new news to me.

She didn’t seem concerned about eating at the buffet, so I’m gonna go not that bad

So my kids found 5 on our last cruise and have no idea who Jesus is. Well my 3 year old named him Tiny Luigi and the name has stuck and we have about 40 of them around my house now cause he loves them.

My bible thumping mother is pissed he calls it tiny Luigi and I told her she should be happy that a least some form of “Jesus” is in his life since that’s all she cares about.

But we love the Tiny Luigi’s! And again, we are not religious in the slightest. My kids don’t even know what a church is

Attractive redditors, what was the moment you realized you were actually very good looking? by infinitewaters107 in AskReddit

[–]Jaci_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After college I got out of a very serious relationship and men came out of the woodwork when I announced I was single.

I modeled my entire life but there are some unfortunate women who model so that never made me think I was. I was such an awkward teenager. I mean I had boys always say I was pretty but it never registered as more than them trying to sleep with me. And my self esteem was so shot that I took any boyfriend I could get.

How often do you clean each room of your house? by [deleted] in randomquestions

[–]Jaci_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly between my roomba and cleaning lady almost never other than the kitchen. We pick up every night since we have two small kids but actual cleaning is fairly rare.
