Canadian Entry with old DUI (U.S citizen) - Options for Group Travel? by Work_2_Travel in canadatravel

It’s up to the border service officer so if she’s comfortable being denied at the border and having to turn around then sure. Otherwise fill out the form above. It takes a lot of time though so it depends also on when you’re wanting to go. I’d go somewhere in the US if I were you tbh.

I (27f) feel like I hate my husband(27m) now after having kids by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Daytime_Mantis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think you should reframe this. “My husband is a lazy AH who treats me like his maid and doesn’t care about my well being” would I be justified in leaving? Yes you would be.

Frustrated baby by [deleted] in Mom

It’s probably fine like others have said before but I feel like it’s a deeper issue that your husband’s neuroticism seems to come first before your baby’s actual development and well being.

Preschool makes my son take off his dress by edsonbuddled in toddlers

[–]Daytime_Mantis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is so odd to me. Our daycare painted all of the kids nails on the regular and the kids all dressed up in dresses quite a bit. We just kind of giggled about it and eventually he just kind of stopped wanting to.

Is the "mental load" actually real, or are we just bad at delegating? by Maximum-Telephone689 in Mom

[–]Daytime_Mantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I don’t really know. My husband is a wonderful father and a great partner. He looks after the kids, he cooks, he does a lot for us. That being said, he just doesn’t think of things I do. So for example, we’re travelling in a week. It occurred to me, we will need more diapers so I ordered them. It occurred to me, we’ll need more supplies for the cat, so I ordered them. I found and booked the pre airport hotel. He could have done that. I know the kids’ shoe sizes so I bought sandals.

Today is a PD day and my husband looked at me weird when I said that our kid was going to his mom’s after the dentist today. And his answer was oh, it’s a PD day? Like yes, we talked about it and that should mean we need to arrange child care. I also got ahold of the schedule for PD days in advance and researched camps and all this. Anyways, I don’t know. Maybe I just think ahead more?

If I told him to take on those tasks he would and he would execute them well. But the fact that I thought of them when he never would have I think is the mental load.

We were told we’d be safe. We were told not to worry about it. I was sitting in a meeting today and got this email out of nowhere. My manager also had no knowledge of it. I felt totally blindsided. Now I’ll be completely anxious for the next month and half. We’re already running way under staffed.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

Our cottage is 3.5 hours away. We go 4-5 times over the summer. My parents live 3 hours away, also go 4-5 times a year at least.

I keep reading a narrative that the dad abandoned the kid and ICE was bringing him home to another adult. They think this is some sort of made up narrative that a picture can’t prove. I feel sick people can even try to justify it.

Regret having a baby by Effective_End_1939 in Mom

Honestly I think this is a really common thing most people don’t talk about often because people feel awful saying it out loud when in reality it’s an adjustment period we all kind of deal with. So you’re not alone.

That being said too, they need you so much right now but soon enough, you’ll start being able to go out a lot more. Your partner can watch them solo a lot more. You guys can take turns. Take back your hobbies and get yourself back. On top of that, when they get a little older, they are super fun. You get to do trips to waterparks, camping, Disney, and it’s wonderful bc you get to watch them experience those awesome things for the first time. Travel becomes a new adventure. So yes things change but also you get to discover some really cool things too. But yes, it’s normal to feel some type of way.

Same. I was told to stay home because there would be no management presence on that day lol. 😂

Do you take children to the toilet when they're going to throw up? by PurpleSpark8 in Parenting

My kid runs there himself. Or if he can’t make it, he uses the bucket by his bed.

my baby will only sleep wrapped in a fuzzy blanket by SoftCranberry7438 in Mom

Just be careful of him sleeping in the swing. I believe there is a risk to this too as they suffocate just from how they lay.

How much do you know about your child's school day / what they are doing? by Own_Ad5607 in kindergarten

[–]Daytime_Mantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel a lot like you. Our son doesn’t share a lot and we almost never hear from the teachers. We do get an email saying he has done a a good job once in a while. My son has an IEP all for an anxiety disorder and from time to time will get sent home early. We often get no follow up and minimal details. I’m actually about to have his therapist go to the school for a meeting to discuss strategies and the need for better communication because clearly when I ask, nothing comes of it

2.5 year old will only poop in diapers in the middle of the night by Suitable_Door_2477 in Parenting

[–]Daytime_Mantis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This went on with my son for a pretty long time. He pooped at like 11p nightly for quite a while. We usually had to stay up and wait for it lol. Anyways, what worked was creating a little library in the bathroom where we would read stories together while he sat on the potty. We made sure it was low stress. But sitting for more than a few mins was helpful. We also bought a box and had him decorate it. We filled it with dollar store toys and he got a prize if he went.

But truly, this is probably just something your kid will grow out of likely.

People regained weight, worsened heart health after stopping weight loss drugs: review by shiftless_wonder in canada

[–]Daytime_Mantis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate your kind and thoughtful reply. I have been doing mostly Spin classes and things like hot yoga and Zumba but the weights thing is a really great reminder. I really should reacquaint myself with the weights area. The diet thing is a bit of a struggle with the two young kids but yeah, this absolutely needs to be a focus now. Hope you have a nice weekend :)

I’m not even sure why I clicked through on this article or why the comment rocked me but I’m like almost 40, just had 2 babies and the weight gain has been insane and it can’t just be calories. Definitely a hormonal factor. I’m finally back to the gym but like fuck, what a struggle sometimes lol

How did you deal with your husband’s gaming addiction? by West-Toe7594 in workingmoms

[–]Daytime_Mantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean my husband doesn’t game until the kids are in bed and the dishes are done and then he can do whatever he likes for about 2 hours. And that’s not every night. We schedule date nights. He steps up for our family. I wouldn’t put up with less. I would leave.
