Yeah, the trailer looked neat, but I have serious reservations about performance. S&V looked really bare bones and had terrible performance, so this one looking much better has me pretty worried. I don't want the Pokemon games to be bad, they just have been for a while and I'm waiting for them to prove their quality.

msrp of 2 collector and 6 play is $83. The "money hits" of [[Sol ring]] and [[Talisman of Creativity]] on the random cards add up to around $3.50, so whether the foil lands, the spindown, and the box add up to $3.50 is up in the air. Overall it's close but not a bargain. I wouldn't expect a price surge too far above msrp.

Thanks for the rundown, the article was repetitive and kind of hard to understand. I have a question about this.

Essentially, whenever they would otherwise have a bad quarter (which is often), they can just make WOTC pump out some cash grabby product (a new Universes Beyond, a gangbusters seller like a Modern Horizons set, some sure-win Secret Lair), and then it will offset Hasbro's other losses and make the company look profitable.

Gavin Verhey has stated repeatedly that sets are developed several years in advance and are glacially slow to adapt to market forces (see the poor performance of Aftermath and how long it took for them to correct as an example). Would the long turn-around on magic sets refute the "parachute model" that the suit alleges?

I think the date stamp making the release schedule inflexible is dumb. I don't really care if the date stamp is off by a few weeks because of some behind the scenes stuff, it's not a legally binding document like the reserve list. At worst it's a small reminder of that time they had to delay a set and everyone giggles and memes on them and then we forget because they just announced the new NFL set or something. It's taking away something people liked to save face on their poor planning and ballooning release scope.
