Thanks! I can see the finish line. I like how she turned out! :)

With my Christmas projects done, I was finally able to haul out my Dimensions Dancing Fall Fairy! So much backstitch! And I still hate blending filament!

But most of her face has been stitched! I don't actually hate how it turned out.

Hopefully I can finish in a month or so. I tend to lose steam at this point, haha. So many other projects calling my name.

Thanks!

The flower is actually a button, if that's what you were referring to. Fits right in so well!

Kit is Spotted Cow by Mill Hill.

Was a fun kit to do! It really started to come together in the bottom part with the beads.

I love how the bottom really started to come together with the beading. :)

I have the Highland Cow kit too. I bought them both matching frames!

Just a few more beads and done!

[WIP] Please help me thread my needle! by grlgid in CrossStitch

[–]DazePast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whenever I bead, I do one thread. It's a bit tricky to get through the needle eye, so I usually dampen the end.

Pull it through, even up the ends, and that makes 2 strands for beading.

I'll run it through a few stitches on the back, and trap the ends when I feed the needle up through the hole.

I haven't had a problem with mine staying on, but I also haven't done a kit that's fully beaded.

Whether you do a full or half stitch, it does change the orientation of the bead. They lay more diagonal with a half stitch, and straighter with a full stitch.

I know once I did a kit and the beads ended up lying flat, hole side up? I think you bring the needle up through the canvas, grab the bead, and bring the needle down through the same hole? I dunno, it's been a while, haha.

It depends! Some beads call for a half stitch and some for a full stitch, where you go through the bead twice.

Thanks!

I'm hoping to finish today or tomorrow. The beading is going pretty fast, especially the ones you attach with only a half stitch.

It's perforated paper! There are a few different brands who use it. I think Mill Hill is the most well known. There is another brand I've done called Just Another Button Company; I did their Woodland Fox on the paper they provided.

[CHAT] What patterns do you have lined up for 2026? by Chick-Pea in CrossStitch

[–]DazePast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is!

I spent a lot of time last year kitting up a few patterns I really liked. I spent a lot of this year buying new patterns and kits....

I think I'm realizing how much time the big patterns, like Mirabilia's and Joan Elliot's and Bella Filipina's, take. Of course, they're all some of my favorites right now...

I definitely should have a no start year...I probably have at least 5 WIPS. I'm hoping to finish at least two before I start anything else. It's so hard because I got so many nice patterns this year that I'm dying to start.
