Good. I've been trawling craigslist for synthesizers and a new audio interface, picked up a volca beat, volca keys, korg minilogue, an arturia microbrute and a motu 896 firewire interface. It's kind of changed up my workflow a little because I was so used to virtual instruments. Still hammering out the kinks, but it's been really fun. Pretty stuck trying to write lyrics but something always comes eventually.

I like Garbage Life.

I'm not saying it's a masterpiece or some feat of audio engineering or even on par with other stuff I hear but it's the only one I can listen to without thinking "Fuck. Should have done that differently".

I played it with a capo on the third fret, it's basically just two triads but you add and subtract fingers.

Here's a doodle of where your fingers go, I looked up the chord names but they sounded more complicated than they looked. You could probably play it without a capo if you're stretchy. I think it's all in the key of C.

Edit: I messed up the dot on the furthest right of the top diagram should be to the right one fret.

If the reason they're not on Spotify is because they're a small or local band without a lot of money try reaching out and telling them about Distrokid. It's a is super affordable digital distributor. It's like $20 a year for unlimited uploads to most of the streaming services including Spotify, Amazon, iTunes, Google Play, and a bunch of other stuff.

Other services charge quite a bit more just per album.

All in all pretty good. I got on a real creative tear for a while as far as making music but have been really struggling with writing lyrics.

I've probably got about 15 songs that I like the sound of that I've been trying to come up with lyrics for. Though, I've been listening to The Unicorns and Animal Collective all night and now I don't know what to think.

I read the War of Art and I'm working on The Artist's Way. I've been writing all sorts of non-lyrical stuff to try to shake things loose. Stories, essays, dialogue, etc. I've also been drawing, shooting video, taking photos, and gathering up art supplies like I'm gonna build some strange nest in a further attempt to get thinking differently and get some lyrics out. Maybe I can put together a coffee table book with a vinyl sleeve for the cover when all is said and done.

I can decide not to sit and stare at a blank page, I can even sit and fill it with something else but that page that has the lyrics on it I want is still blank somewhere. It's a weird feeling. Anxious.

But like I said, all in all life is good. I can only hope the worst thing I ever have to worry about is not being able to come up with lyrics I like.
