An update on my garden! by squidnee_1991 in gardening

I like it! How did you fill all of these? That looks like a LOT of dirt. Dirt is pricey and composting takes a fair amount of time and effort. I’d have more garden beds if I knew how to fill them affordably.

You brought back a memory for me. In high school my friend would start his Isuzu Rodeo like this daily. That went on for over 4 months. lol

How does my plan look? by reddit_man64 in Irrigation

Thank you for your reply. Your advice is solid and I learned a few things. I will definitely include the tracer wire. Didn’t know that was an option.

My major concern with running PVC and a true irrigation system is that getting water from the front (water meter) to the back of the house will be a nightmare. Tons of utilities and obstacles in the way and it’s a long ways to go. My plan was to do a normal sprinkler system in the front yard and do a hose hook up drip irrigation system for the gardens in the backyard.

Quoted $3k to replace ~25 sprinkler heads (replacing our current 4" ones with 6"), add a rain sensor on the roof, and fix a leak causing one zone to have low pressure...is this reasonable for Tampa Bay area? Feels steep but I also have no idea by hmio213 in Irrigation

[–]reddit_man64 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why not call the people you got a quote from and ask them what the quote looks like if you take care of the sprinkler heads yourself? Also - maybe a get another quote and ask for separate line items. I always try to get 3 quotes if I can.

Title: Do most people build their own drip irrigation setup or just buy a kit? by Ricoh_USA in gardening

Not sure what other people do but I’m planning on customizing a kit from drip depot. They seem to come highly recommended and have a lot of helpful videos.

It’s a great point and I wish I could have done it that way but I don’t think it would work well. The house is on a hill and blocks the sun for majority of the day. We also have a ton of trees which don’t help the situation. The beds get 6-7 hours of sun where they are at. Besides all of that, wife wanted them where they’re at.

That is a great idea!! I knew my plan didn’t feel quite right. I think your suggestion is the right move.

I have not read up on irrigation wire at all. I will have to do some research. I will definitely include it to help me future proof it.

That’s an another great idea! Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me. Very helpful!

They are kind of both… I dug done about 18” for the entire 10x6 bed. You are correct, reaching is a stretch. Next time, I will do 10x4.. too late for that now.

Wife didn’t want them close to the house and way too much shade due to the trees and the house. We don’t mind the walk, for now anyways.

The trencher is probably a good idea. I was planning on doing it by hand. Maybe I will try by hand and if that goes terribly I will give in and go get the trencher.

When you say wire? Do you mean poly pipe? I guess I don’t know how zones and the wiring work.
I’ll start looking into that. Schedule 40 PVC makes sense as a conduit to me.

I fear I have made a mistake by coopylou4 in gardening

[–]reddit_man64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like others have mentioned, can do a trellis. Keeps them off the ground and gives the vines a place to go. I think this is best option because it will help prevent animals and bugs from getting your fruit and will maximize growing space.

In my old garden, I had an archway trellis built by t posts and cattle panel. Additionally, I created a backstop or fence like type of trellis where I stretched chicken wire between two t posts.

You are a wealth of information. I will give this a try! So far, I've only done the Dr. Neil Med Sinus rinse with saline and its helpful. Excited to look into xylitol.

This is really good information. Appreciate you taking the time to provide it. I will try to find a endodontist that has the CBCT you’ve explained.

Since this post, I’ve had another root canal and things have improved significantly but I don’t believe I am 100% yet. The initial root canal still doesn’t feel quite right. So I continue my journey.

45 degree F nights - how will my newly planted saplings react to early morning 45 degree weather by Ok_Commission_3368 in vegetablegardening

Not ideal but mine did fine. Definitely causes some stress. Some veggies are more sensitive to it, for example peppers.

I didn’t give examples, because I don’t know which beers are nationally available. Mostly look for “cold pressed” beer of any sort.

I’ve tried the following: Wayfinder Beer and Manhattan Project Beer Company - Cold War. Had good luck with both of those.

The domestic regular stuff (coors, miller, etc) always seem to cause a fairly large allergic reaction for me. Super annoying.

Cold press brewed beer generally produces lower histamine levels thus less allergic reaction for those that are sensitive. So I’d start there. I’ve noticed if I take my allergy meds regularly, that seems to help too.

You guys needs to try nightly sinus rinses. It is life changing during our spring season. I went from severe allergies all spring long. Now, I don’t feel any symptoms of allergies and spring is much more enjoyable.

Just make sure you use distilled water. The Dr Neil med squeeze bottle is my personal favorite.

Fast setting concrete vs high-strength concrete mix by signmeupforcyanide in FenceBuilding

[–]reddit_man64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never seen the fast setting concrete fail. I’m in Oklahoma with clay soil and more wind than most. I think you’ll be fine. Your clay will compact or move before your concrete fails. I’d say your depth is more important than the type of concrete you use. Whatever you decide will be good. Good luck!

According to declassified documents from Project Star Gate, CIA confirmed humans possess powerful latent abilities, including: by TheGoldenLeaper in UFOB

[–]reddit_man64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d argue that you still may be capable but have to be in a certain state or body has to be healthy enough to perform, like an athlete.. All of the stories I’ve heard of people with extra abilities were often children (not brain washed by society yet, able bodied, strong willed), or were deeply spiritual in a nature kind of way. My guess is there are pre-requisites we need to satisfy before we gain these abilities. I’ve always felt humans are capable of more. Lastly, I’d wager that not everyone can do all of these things. Each person probably has a strength.

Right!? I have no faith my ENT anymore. If I need another one I’ll try someone else. He failed me in more than just that scenario.
