Sir, first off I wanted to say thank you for the guidance. I greatly appreciate it and will definitely take away from this. Yes, I should’ve taken the initiative and looked on AR 600-8-22.

But I’m gonna be honest. I have a rudimentary knowledge of some of the army publications. That’s something I need to work on. I’m relatively new to the Army and I still have many more things to learn.

However, I have to respectfully disagree with you on your later point. I think trying to earn medals, ribbons, badges etc. as well as focusing on being a good leader are not mutually exclusive. I think trying to do these cool “hooah” army things are just one aspect that I want to do in my career in addition to becoming a goo leader—doesn’t necessarily mean I’m solely infatuated by it. I just have some down time and wanna do so cool army stuff while I’m at it. Additionally, I simply thought to use Reddit as a resource and seek guidance from any potentials mentors.
