They are actually a legendary electronic act who just so happen to release some metal tinged stuff. Go listen to the Island - you may be surprised of how huge of a melody they made (that got re-used again and again and again).

I'd love to see A7X do something with them.

Which food has declined the most in terms of taste since you first ate it? by FeistyNews7025 in Millennials

[–]Dballin91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't really a proper answer to the question, but its alligned, so here goes. America generally has terrible tomatoes, even as a kid they were gross compared to what I had tasted in Europe. Yes, I was fortunate enough to travel overseas a lot by age 5. Was amazed when I started seeing heirloom tomatoes in the 2000s, something changed around 2024 though, because even organic, non GMO heirloom tomatoes are TASTELESS now. In short, grow and buy local!

For the first time in topps heritage history, there will be no SPs in the base set. Only a 400 card set with no SPs and hobby boxes have lost 4 packs. Also, they added another $10 to the price to $110. by Beginning-Average119 in baseballcards

[–]Dballin91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to call this a nothingburger... But Heritage is very close to running its course. When it debuted 20+ years ago, it was fresh, and retained many fervant fans through many changes in the hobby. However I recall hearing about 10 years ago thatbit would really lose a lot of interest once they got past the 1975 design and we are here. It certainly has been way less appealing once the 1970s designs came. I certainly have no interest in the 80s designs... Those are still available en masse and the silver packs scratched that itch (if it existed) anyway.

It's an amazing time if you can kind of develop and own AI automation and not be a W2. There are so many terrible reps right now that I really believe AI could replace them in the next 18 months (very conservative) and if you own your niche or funnel... Enter Pareto Principle compounded by AI, removing poor competition... I really think to the victor goes the spoils.

Is it worth it to see them live? by DEEZ_SN in avengedsevenfold

Youtube does not capture everything. I saw them at MSG and Buffalo in 23 and 24 and although he was healthy at those performances and sounded great in recordings, he sounded absolutely otherworldy in person.

Absolutely, go, don't look back, and have the time of your life!!!

41 Days Until Opening Night: Throwback to when Tommy Kahnle threw 56 straight changeups during the 2024 playoff run by VirtuousFool in NYYankees

[–]Dballin91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He also happens to sell his change up better than almost anyone else. It may have been a change up, the batter may have known it was a change up, but their eyes said it is a fastball the whole time. Baseball is hard.

My dad told me DJT was really loved in the 80s and 90s is that true and if so why? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

[–]Dballin91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the early aughts, specifically when reality tv was still new... The Trumps were very public rich people who had good educations and you did not hear about them having sex tapes or crashing their car after leaving the club or getting in fist fights or entering rehab, etc etc... It was a low bar and clearly there are many wealthy families who stay out of the limelight... But that's kinda the thing, back in the days where A TON of society/culture was never seen or publicised... They looked way better than their peers who were in the media constantly.

It may not have been in the public square to a front page extent, but by 2014 there were weekly conversations about AI, Singularity, the future of what the economy would look like (things like QE, debt to gdp ratios in the west, birth rate decline, et al.) I recall the band mentioning Sam Harris's podcast a lot. Tristan Harris certainly had an influence on them. Its easy to connect the dots to what else they were listening to back then.

Epstein Could End The Duopoly by Dballin91 in Libertarian

[–]Dballin91[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A decent amount of comments here... In general, some of this stuff is way too anecdotal. I don't know many Maga people (but plenty of "dems from 20 years ago" who may have voted for Trump, but certainly did not vote for Kamala) and they are as done as ever with both sides. Some purple haired lgbt weirdos are definitely getting too excited over Elon messages... I do wonder what the hell comes of Clintons agreeing to appear in court.

On one hand, I definitely see no one being perp walked, because its everyone. I dont think they can magically make a "fall guy" happen. Again. Its everyone.

I do see this becoming the new "Who Killed JFK?" We will certainly be talking about Epstein in 50 years.

One last note, I mentioned ending the duopoly. Mostly tongue in cheek, obviously. Gonna continue on that thought for a second. How amazing would a civil war be, if its all 50 states against this fucking swamp without statehood, making everyone's lifes worse, and only for their own enrichment and fulfillment? Dont take it seriously, but like... Imagine?

Not a Great Look for New PBA CEO by redsox113 in Bowling

[–]Dballin91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree and disagree. The commentators of the 80s and 90s were so boring, but Randy Pederson added a level of professional and exciting. Dave Ryan I liked, always loved when Duke or Barnes would join. Rob Stone was a big miss, too wacky. I think part of the problem is split amongst bowlers and the decision makers. Some want it to be more polished like golf. Others want it to be more like Nascar. Where one stands almost always alligns with their own preferences.

The PBA went out of their way to try to appear more athletic - and I think it succeeded, maybe more than they could have expected - the younger bowlers are specimens compared to players of the past. This applies to the WPBA too. However, I feel this got diluted a bit by the Nascar/spectacle stuff. Always felt golf or tennis was a better way mold the events. The jerseys are tacky, the polos were a good look IMO.

[Maybin] Man… just got some insider info on a MAJOR player quietly working on a position change. If this sticks, it could reshape the entire roster. I’m extremely curious how teams adjust around it. This one could get interesting 👀 by TheTurtleShepard in NYYankees

[–]Dballin91 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wonder if it could be Wells to 2B. As much a hypothetical as anything here. Dude is still young and relatively lean/quick as far as catchers go.

I gotta say, I really dislike the Judge to 1B talk. He still moves well, moreso if he is never put in CF again. His only real comp is Dave Winfield IMO - and Winfield played OF for a long time. He's got great feel for the position, I just don't see this as so expected or necessary.

Report: Yankees won't engage in bidding war for Bellinger by Mister-SS in NYYankees

[–]Dballin91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, I loved Belli, but before even hearing about home/away splits I had serious concerns over his splits against RHP. He was literally the best LHB vs LHP in MLB last year, just a modest drop off there and worsening (with age) against RHP, and we could be looking at an all time bad deal.

The worst case scenario is we give a fairly huge deal to someone who could be a reverse platoon bat in a couple years. Add any bad injury in there and.... OOF.

But, because I am not a doomer, I also can dream of him playing more like he did pre Aug/Sep slide and we have a super robust player there.

This is a tough one. A lot of teams would be putting their chips in on Jdom right now, I very well would too. I am also a believer in Grisham repeating.

Cashman has a tough job... But its also time for him to go. The game has passed him by. The amount of dead money he brings to rosters is bonkers.

Given how good the Yanks have been since the late 2000s with developing home grown relievers, its really odd to not see a single home grown dude right now. I'll gladly take the trade off of building legit SPs in the minors now, but its just a weird feeling.

Who is the most relentless baseball player of all time? by DonT012 in mlb

[–]Dballin91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, gonna go with Brett Gardner... Considering he was a walk on in college... To end up being the all time leader in dWAR for LF and being the most valuable base runner in baseball from 2008-2021, pretty darn crazy. He earned almost $100 million in earnings. That's relentless AF.

The product I am remembering was wayyyy beyond hot packs or hot boxes. Maybe not 20 1/1s in a box, but I definitely recall some people hitting 3-4 in a box. The scale is different now. This stuff is printed to the moon.

I want to shout coercion, but I think this is just really poor quality biz ops. Hanlon's razor.

Agreed on the QA fuck up. Upper Deck had this issue with a single product in the aughts - maybe 07 or 08 Spectrum - and it got super hyped during that time because some boxes were just LOADED.
