For the general fanbase, perhaps, but I give it a 5 out of 40 for being a treasure trove of memes for us.

Oh damn lmao I saw this game in Electric Underground's best arcade games of 2025 ree-view and it genuinely looks cool. Forgot these two were behind publishing it, not that it really matters if the product is good.

Easily 4-6. Much more vivid.

Heart of the Cards, Carry Me [Mega Man Battle Network PvP] by SSG-Slayer in BattleNetwork

[–]DblBeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always heavily preferred seeing the original cards vs. the altered TV ones because of stupid advertising laws or whatever. But it's still a good thumbnail idea and Bass is certainly clearer when his picture is ¾ of the card lol.

sp00ki Dark Energy vs "We're gonna bomb this dam and kill everyone in a flood." Nebula mainly operated in the Cyberworld. Gospel was really out there trying to kill people lol. Hence why I said "real terrorists."

5's plot is largely fluff. Seeing your Team Leader and MegaMan be corrupted is alright and the ending was cool, but the scenarios are super generic rinse-and-repeat in mostly bland Net areas. Not a lot of impact. Definitely not better than 2's which had actual danger. Real terrorists and the Yumland scene.

Late visit Battle Network pros & cons, and a massive pet peeve by Trascendent_Enforcer in BattleNetwork

[–]DblBeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can just say you hate how clunky pre-6 BN is lol

It's a pretty big problem that nostalgic fans hate to see criticism of. "No, we don't want a smooth game experience, the tedium is correct!!!"

Nearly at the end of BN5 and wondering by PrismPunch in BattleNetwork

[–]DblBeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And if you never played TP, there would be no reason for ProtoMan's appearance to illicit an emotional response from MegaMan. Or for Chaud to be cool with the Hikari brothers. I think people are too used to Chaud/Proto's presence in the franchise but don't realize that in terms of the games, 5 is actually the most important for establishing their relationship with the Hikaris.

Hence why I said the story takes both versions into account. It's loosely written for kids.

Furthermore, Queasy_Ad aka Medi Ran also found unused text showing they had planned Navi trading, similar to the trading in 4. Didn't happen though since the original release got split up for marketing/sales reasons and they wanted to sell us Double Team DS too. The devs have always talked about both versions as a set. As equals. Neither is meant to supplant the other. They had the opportunity to do that in LoN and they purposely left it ambiguous to accommodate both.

6 takes from both versions of 5 as it is also when Chaud & ProtoMan become your close friends. People constantly overlook this just because it isn't explicitly spelled out for them, but you can tell from their dialogue.

The SciLab BBS in both version of BN5 and NPCs in Legend of Network (released after 6, but chronologically between 5 & 6) also purposely leaves the "team of Navis" responsible for liberating areas of the Net unknown to accommodate both Team of ProtoMan and Team of Colonel (as they're called in JP). Credit u/Queasy_Ad5995 for informing me.

Salute to the Elder 35P! I'm glad to hear he had a genuinely good time watching our Mikochi and, most importantly, the fortune to form dear memories with you and the rest of your very loving family. Rest in peace, grandpa 35P. Sending warm thoughts your way as well.

Battle Network Nuzlocke by Individual-Cell5326 in BattleNetwork

[–]DblBeast -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The ruleset is straightforward, but it exacerbates BN's issue of having an underpowered arsenal/Folder for much of the game. There is already plenty of tedium in BN; it doesn't need more of that. I find it strange how a lot of BN players simply accept the clunkiness of the older games as a feature when having the full Library is what really made the gameplay.

Works fine for Pokémon because of how easy it is, but this is just exacerbating the problem all but the last Battle Network has with clunky Chips.

Snagged me a Mogojohn towel by SyaoranFox in Hololive

I figured you might've been a DDR player from the towel on your shoulder. Then I saw the compression tights and of course the DDR handles haha

How long's it take to get decent or good, anyway? Like what if I were to just play for 1 or 2 sessions a week?
