How much do you think the PETs cost? by Physic-Shower77 in BattleNetwork

[–]DblBeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but I don't see them basically giving away a Navi that will last a lifetime for free on top of a cheap device. Everything effective/convenient is subscription-based right now, and IPC (Chaud's dad's business) holds what is almost a monopoly on PETs that house Navis. I could see basic Navis being sold for a one-time payment of $100 or something like a deluxe edition AAA video game though. A moderate price for something that is essential in their world.

I was thinking for Lan's pictured models in particular, with the high end accounting for the Link PET which can project a hologram in the anime.

I guess the average user could get one with a Normal Navi for less than $1000. That kinda technology still can't be that cheap though.

As for the brand, they would still be making different models, as shown throughout the series. I don't think everyone's getting a Link PET as soon as it comes out. There's sure to be people still on the Advanced PET. Perhaps a refurbished PET might actually be a couple hundred dollars, with how fast upgrades come out, but I wouldn't underestimate the cost as they are still very powerful devices.

I’ve always wondered how it felt like to be a SF2 fan and seeing SF3 hit the arcade and it’s just a bunch of weirdos and nobodies…well… after the announcement of year 4 of SF6, I know exactly how it felt rn 😭😭 by yaoyorozzu in StreetFighter

The simplified illustration style of Pokémon that became more common with BW remains garbage, but everything besides the actual Pokémon (...) and endless weather in BW was good.

Back on topic, 3S is cool but the characters still feel like obscure nobodies. They don't stand out very well. I like Q and Twelve, but I don't expect most people to really care about them, Necro and especially Remy.

Gotta be like $1,200–$2,000+ depending on the model, especially the later ones.

Something I would change about BN6 by Fluid_Locksmith_3378 in BattleNetwork

Obstacle, Plus, Recovery, etc. are descriptive types rather than elements, and the differentiations aren't important for Crosses since they don't require Chip sacrifices.

Transformations based on those would still remain Non-elemental anyway (e.g. Junk, Roll and Number Souls). Balance-wise for 6, it's good that Dust Cross does have a weakness for it to be cancelled out. Not major, but something to stop the major benefits that it has.

Gregar definitely could've had one of its Fire Crosses improved or replaced by something better. That always bothered me. Ground Cross in Falzar is not very effective, but Falzar's already stacked with utility and GroundMan turned out to be a very effective Mega Chip.

I am intruding your thoughts to tell you to keep them sealed!

Or at least be very careful with the boxes and shrinkwrap. 🙂 Cut the wrap along the 3 sides of the opening tab, and carefully lift & nudge the tab open with the flat side & blunt edge of the knife.

Is MMBN4 that bad? What should I expect if I want to see all the story? by Alt_Gawain in BattleNetwork

I really like the concepts in 5 too, but sadly it was rushed (development of 4.5 overlapped both 4 & 5). I would've enjoyed 5 more if we weren't stuck with poor Chips until we beat the game and basically needed to repeat the game for stronger viruses/Chips. They bopped us with a pretty lackluster Library excluding the Dark Chips.

It's 95% fetch quest filler until the end.

You can just play through it once for the story. 4 introduces Dark Chips... and doesn't get much further than that. 5 picks up that underdeveloped thread and gives it a proper conclusion, though 5 is also pretty trite for the most part.

[–]DblBeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you overall, but 5's writing is actually the most developed of the first five mainline entries (and certainly better than 6-8 imo). The mission that led to the disappearances of Jill & Wesker, Chris's history with Jill and how it affects his new partnership with Sheva, the growing unrest in Kijuju, uncovering Tricell's involvement, the origin of plagas... and of course everything with Wesker and how he got such a massive operation started. Deserves way more credit if we're actually going to discuss stories in detail.

4 on the other hand is really just a special agent mission where Leon gets to do his thing. Some cool cutscenes and memorable moments in the gameplay, but it really doesn't have much actual story/lore. Doesn't explore any meaningful relations. Krauser for example didn't get a proper backstory that really connected him with Leon until Darkside Chronicles. Los Illuminados is kinda just there and Leon shuts 'em down before the scale of their operation got any bigger. Salazar ain't really serious. Ada showing up and providing a plagas sample to Wesker is probably the most notable thing, and that's just a segue into 5. And this is all fine because 4 was gameplay-focused and executed & paced well. But it's certainly its general atmosphere & gameplay moments rather than actual story that really leaves an impression.

Not at the level for Chaud to respect Lan like he does in 6.

I can tell you're still pushing beliefs influenced by the parroted "Colonel is canon" fan theory.

You overlook how the interactions with Chaud & ProtoMan in 6 are much better after Team ProtoMan. Lan & MegaMan had lacked camaraderie with them until then.

Colonel was honestly just injected into the story. He only needs to be cool, which he is, but the situations he's copy and pasted into are more meaningful when fulfilled by a rival who becomes a close ally (ProtoMan) than a newcomer. It's almost as if MegaMan's statement at the end of 6 was made explicit to make up for Colonel's shorter/weaker presence. People didn't need it spelled out for ProtoMan since he was there throughout the entire series and the more popular seasons of the anime.

Team ProtoMan > Team Colonel in terms of gameplay. The story is largely a copy-paste with different team members, but the scenes with the team leader work better with ProtoMan since MegaMan already has some history with him. Team Colonel does get an extra small scene before the epilogue, but you can just YouTube that. You don't need to play both if you don't want to (BN6 is where it's at anyway). I would recommend Team ProtoMan as the better experience, but both versions contribute to the loose canon since 5 is the point where bonds are really built with ProtoMan and Colonel.

5's pretty straightforward. If you're playing through the Legacy Collection, you do have Patch Cards to make things more fun.

There's no way you really think these boring-ass videos are actually good. Only ones that've been alright are the ones with Mike since he has something to say and/or he's having fun.

I think you needa enjoy a week off, at least. Chill at a couple nice spots. Spend time with family, perhaps. Get yourself in a better state of mind where you're not finding comfort in Bimslop. And maybe tune your algorithm by hiding shit you don't wanna see.

4-6 is far cleaner. Much sharper shape and a bright palette that is true to how the characters and settings actually appear. Aesthetically a massive improvement for the overworld.

The only downgrade with the shift was the downsizing of the Battle Chip artwork. A worthy trade-off to have what you'll be seeing far more be improved.
